  1. The best thing you can do to help handling is to get your suspension adjusted correctly. There's lots of info on setting sags and making damping adjustments here if you do a search. Another thing you can do to help turn-in is raise the forks 10mm or so through the triple clamps, but don't try that until you have your suspension sorted first. Went for a ride yesterday, but after the most basic and important maintenance procedure that one can do... I inflated both tires to the proper psi - They looked fine, but both front and rear had less than 18 pounds! All handling issues have magically disappeared. As my Dad used to tell us, "When you hear hooves pounding, don't think Zebra's until you're sure they're not horses"
  2. Whoa! You ARE lucky that it decided to lock up when it did... I am curious, what other problems have you had with the bike other than this last episode? Jamie
  3. When you go on to 'thisoldtractor.com', click on 'Gregory Benders Moto Guzzi Site', then on the far left side click on 'Moto Guzzi, All other Models'. Page down and on the right hand side click on 'Owners Manuals'. Page down almost all the way to the bottom for the V11's, you'll see the manual downloads there. When you download them, you can either bookmark it, save it to a file, or print the entire thing. (Its really long, so load your paper)!
  4. The two zerk fittings (greasers) on either end of the drive shaft are damn near impossible to get grease into, even with a grease needle... both fittings even seem to be pointing away from a direct mating with a grease gun... Any suggestions out there?
  5. I would like to know exactly what you folks recommend for both the rear differential AND the transmission oil. The manual says 1 quart 80/90w Hypoid for Transmission and 90w AND for the rear 1/2 quart 90w hypoid I have read here that some of you use the 'Redline' shockproof 90w for the rear, what about for the transmission? And what type of grease for the driveshaft nipples? Many thanks.
  6. Fantastic! Grazie!
  7. I was hoping that I could get my hands on an owners manual for my 2002 V11 Lemans - or a site on which to download a copy... Any suggestions?
  8. Well my new (to me) 2002 Lemans came the other day.. Wow! She is in great shape and I am very pleased - well worth the 5k I paid it seems! I noticed during my first ride that the instrument cluster really seemed loose, especially after seeing it jump up and down on the New England frost heaves! After closer inspection, I saw that 2 of the 3 rubber mounts has separated from the bolts that hold the cluster to the mounting plate - I am now in the process of cleaning them up and epoxying the bolts back onto the rubber... Anyone else have this happen?
  9. David: Yes, what a perfect day it was here in coastal NH! Drove my '63 Vespa around...I think my bike will be arriving Tuesday... pictures to come soon! Jamie
  10. Bob: I skate over in Newburyport, great little town... I'll be taking some shots of her coming off the truck and such too... talk soon. Jamie

    Almost home...

    Hey-O!
  12. All generalizations are false...
  13. Hey Bob: I was the one who got that one on Ebay from Arkansas for 5k... (Grey w/red) It does have 17k on it, have not seen it 'in the flesh' yet, early next week, but chomping at the bit waiting... I am having a blast reading through all the posts here, feel I'll be ready for (almost) any problems! Cheers, Jamie
  14. Hmm, okay, I was just warned via telephone by the old owner of my new bike (a 2002 V11 Lemans, on it's way to me now) not to soil myself when I hear the clutch noise - after reading this I think I am a little less likely to do so. Thanks.
