  1. Looks like timing cover gasket to me. I did mine with engine in place. A bit fiddly, but can be done. Be sure to change the timing cover oil seal while you've got it off too and be very careful not to damage the seal when replacing the cover.

Could you please elaborate on the procedure?

Mine is weeping in exactly the same manner @ 23000 km's.

  2. Why yes, I've absolutely done a search...but I can't say that I've been able to definatively find good feedback on what I need.

Long story short..I'm a big dude with bad knees. I've got track bikes for practicing my Yoga...I need just a smidge of rise for the Le Mans. I'd prefer NOT to do a bar conversion as I like the clip ons. I THINK that leaves MPH and Convertibars if I'm not mistaken. If there's another idea...and pennytech is welcome, I'd love to hear it.

It looked like a few people tried some options several years ago that just didn't pan out and are no longer available...but again, ideas are much appreciated!

I would go with the MPH, a nice product that retains the clip ons

  3. I've removed the rear caliper on my bike because one of the pistons was stuck. Got it going again, all fine, but I don't manage to get a firm brake pedal after filling up with brake fluid again, despited repeated bleeding. Also replaced the master cylinder. Somehow air remains trapped somewhere. Is there a knack for getting it out? I guess the bleed nippe pointing down doesnt help...

The easy way is to remove the caliper, turn it such that the bleeder is pointing upwards. This is the only way i can get my V11 to bleed properly.

  4. Hello all,

I am getting ready to part out our low mileage 02 Lemans. It has gooned forks and fairing. But the motor and trans and all the odd bits are 10K miles perfect condition. This bike made 85 rwbhp, and shifted like the best jap bike. My question is, should I sell the engine with the throttle bodies, ECU and PCIII, should I sell the front brakes as calipers, braided cables and master cylinder or as a set. etc, etc, etc, or piece them out. If interested, I will post a comprehensive list of the parts available prior to ebaying them. As the gent who crashed it paid me for it, he will be included in any monies obtained.

    Thanks for any feedback,

    Jon

Sell the engine with everything intact.

The bits and pieces, if you sell them all separately, you will be waiting a while to get rid of everything.

What is the story on the custom seat? If it is in one piece, i may be interested.

  5. Thanks for the tips guys. I know it's not the upper angle drive because the LeMans doesn't have one :homer: . I'll take a closer look at the lower angle drive and cable and report back if I find anything. If it's a problem inside the speedo that will have to wait a few months.

My '03 does not have a lower one, either.

The cable housing makes a tight bend before entering the lower drive. My cable had problems with this bend. Cable broke at 7100 mile mark, The odometer gave up at the same time, for whatever reason.

  6. I bought the Penske.

Looks like a nicely put together unit.

The unit is slightly longer(adjusted short as possible). Barely fit. Rear ride height is increased, probably about an inch.

Spring height adjustment requires that one remove the tank, side covers, and air box.

Fourth shock removal,in 7000 miles. Getting good at it!

  7. Congratulations !!!!!! Now go spend about $300.00 & fix it. Price a new one or Google speedo repairs.

$ 206 Canadian pesos, not as bad as i thought.

I hope this one lasts a bit longer!

What year is your LeMans? White face gauges or the black (different cable set-up)?

It is a 2003, with the black face.
