  2. I sent you a PM; I am interested in the crossover, shop stand and possibly the PCIII. Give me a shout when you get to parting it out.
  3. As the title says, I would like to pick up a factory shop stand for my v11 Sport. Please let me know if you have one to sell. Thanks, Sean
  4. I really like this look - and I'm in the market for something new (I just installed pro tek clip-ons that my MG carbon fiber fairing no longer fits with). Any further info and/or pics of the mounting would be great. Looks like a replica can be had here - http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/bmw/bmwboxer.htm (no affiliation, blah, blah). Edit - oops; should have searched. Lots of info - http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1062&st=0&p=8648&hl=r90s&fromsearch=1entry8648
  5. Thanks for the advice, gents! I'll post up what I choose and how it goes. You've got that right. I tend to be pretty limited for time - but I'll get them in as I can! Hope to see you here in the Cities.
  6. Nope - I'm Sean. Nice to make your acquaintance!

  7. 2000 v11 Sport - what a great bike - can't wait for many more miles! Rides like it is smaller than it is; sounds like no other: I love the styling (one of the best looking naked bikes out there, and I like a healthy rear end ) Shifts are a little rough and it has taken me a little time to get used to the off throttle characteristics. I was originally in the market for a Suzuki TL1000R, and am very glad that I wound up here. Repairs completed: Oil cooler brackets Front brake switch Modifications: Rizoma bar end mirrors (class retro) - great look and solved alot of the bar vibes Problems: Shifter has locked on me a couple times; plus a couple missed upshifts. Sounds like a new spring is in my near future... Sometimes stalls coming to a stop coming off a freeway or speeds over 50mph Maintenance list: It needs the 6k mi service, so lots to do there this winter - Needs tires Change fork oil (and upgrade to heavier springs) Oil change Plugs Transmission/final drive fluid replacement Valve adjustment TPS adjustment/throttle body sync Flush brake and clutch fluid Would also like to tidy up the tail; not sure what I'll do there. And it probably isn't on the list $ wise, but I would like a new seat. Couple of questions - 1. The stalling when coming to stop - the bike has Mistral cans and K&N pod filters, but no updated ECU or aftermarket engine controls. Could that be the cause? It does not pop on decel or show any indications of running lean (pinging or the like). Should a PC III be my next modification? I could probably swing it... 2. Trying to decide on a gear oil; I have looked at a lot of threads - anyone with long term experience care to chime in? 3. Experience with tires would be appreciated - I ride mostly street/touring. I would like something that performs, but I can get some miles out of it. Pirelli Angel Sport Touring? Thanks all for the great forum and the previous information you have worked so diligently to keep together.
  8. Ah; mine do not have the plates there, but the finish is just a little off. I noticed it when I bought the bike - the PO must have removed them and then tried to make that area match the rest of the can. He did a good job; it's pretty close!
  9. I have unlabeled Mistral cans on mine and they look a lot like that. Is there a view or stamping you want me to look for that might indicate they are the same? All I have is the receipt from the PO, and the fact they are LOUD (oh, and the stock cans in a box). Threadjack - I just picked up a set of prot-tek clip-ons, and I see you have a set of aftermarket as well. I have the same fairing (not painted); did you run into any fitment issues? Did you have to alter the fairing?
  10. Sent him an email; I want one as well!
  11. Took one out today (a little more penetrating oil and the breaker bar took care of it). More torque than I wanted to exert got it out... Couple of bad pics for reference - on the Sport it is all one piece; the majority of which sits in the clip on: Weight (8.75oz) I'll post up impressions on the manic salamander weights once I get them (I think they are 14oz+)
  12. Impact wrench was for naught. Those things are IN there. May have to try the Grand Persuader (4ft steel pipe over breaker bar); but I'm not sure I need them off THAT bad. Sheesh!
  13. These were aluminum. The right side had sheared top and bottom at similar locations. I don't think this one saw much warranty work, although I know the relays were updated and the transmission recall was done.
  14. Haven't gotten to this just yet - had to replace the brake switch and oil cooler brackets (one was cracked all the way through). 7 out of 8 of those bolts came out easy; the 8th stripped and I had to get medieval on it. I was the winner (this time), but I do need a new bolt
  15. Thanks for all the welcomes; I'm looking forward to spending time here. I think the v11 sport ends are a bit different - they are one long piece that threads into the bar (if I am seeing the schematic correctly). There is a rubber cap that comes off, then a hex hole for unscrewing it. I'll take pics once I get it out. I should have a look at the sync on the TBs. I read through the FAQs and how-to's; it doesn't sound to tough. PO already has rubber hose on those ports so I suspect he kept up with this for the most part. He was great about maintenance and documentation - very meticulous. @Roy - thanks for the wiring tip! I think I'll give that a shot
  16. It looked like they extended pretty far into the bar from the manual; I would still like to give the weights a try and see where it gets me. I think I'll see about that impact tomorrow - I'll post what I find. Thanks for the comments on the bike. For mods, it has a Mistral exhaust and the airbox has been deleted. Not sure about a tune just yet...
  17. I'm sorry this is my first post - I swear I searched, but I haven't quite figured out how to get decent results with the engine here. I am looking to replace my bar ends (equalizers, the manual calls them) with weighted versions to reduce vibrations, but mine seem to be on there more than tight. The manual calls for removing all the controls before the ends, but I don't see why that is necessary. However, when I try to get the end off, it twists the grip/controls on that side. Anyone else run into this? Hit it with the impact gun? Thanks in advance for any advice. And thanks to this site already - this is where I got the most info before my purchase this past weekend (and already found Pyro Dan for a replacement brake light switch. You just can't beat $5!). Bike in question is a 2001 v11 sport (just 5k mi). Pic for your efforts - Sean
