  1. Moto Guzzi Ulster Rally – this weekend Hi All we're looking forward to meeting this weekend, for the whole time or at some point between Thursday and Monday. There may be around 30 people attending, though not all at the same time. There's a core group of about 15 or 16. I have updated information on the www.belfastguzzi.com website. If you have any corrections or suggestions, please let me know. Barholm accommodation Most people have booked directly with Barholm. • I will go to Portaferry late Thursday afternoon to open Barholm for 5pm. • For people staying one night (or maybe two) in a dorm, the cost is £14 per night. • There is self-catering in the kitchen. The cooked breakfast is booked from caterers for about 17 people on Saturday and Sunday morning at 9.00am. There are shops, eating places, bars, hotels etc nearby, as per info on the website. • As there will only be us at the accommodation, it would be very useful if you let me know when you are arriving. If we're out, we'll aim to be back for new arrivals, or will give instructions for entrance. • For now, I'll say that we'll be back at Barholm for 6.00pm on Friday and Saturday evenings, for new people arriving. Friday • At noon, Davy Graham and I, and maybe Bertie, will meet the group arriving at Belfast by Ferry. • If anyone, traveling from anywhere else, would like met somewhere, or needs directions: phone me. • If you joining for a day ride, please confirm where and when you will meet the group. Here are a couple of possible meeting places. If you want to suggest anywhere else, let me know. 2. I'm gonna look at things now and will post an update in a while. You're gonna miss Morelli's yoghurt, I mean, ice cream.
  3. I am gladdened and pleased by Mr Gearjammerfoodmonster's sorry tale of woe. I want to hear more such tales.
  4. If I cut the original key shank off, leaving enough neck to attach the broken new key shank to instead, can I then recode that original key head to work along with the new key system? Can I enter a completely new code that I make-up, or can I find-out what the current code is? Ta
  5. It's not working with key head just on key ring. Maybe it's not close enough to barrel/coil. And arghhhhhhhhhhh - just noticed a lump in a jacket pocket - and found the original key! I had thought it was stolen along with the other keys that went. So there was no need at all to get the locks changed, at £200!!!!!!!!
  6. natural talent So if it's that complicated to get a new key, and if there is no battery, I can just put a new head on the key shank and keep the magic part attached on the key ring.
  7. Or maybe there isn't a battery in the key. Anyone know how the transponder works?
  8. If it keeps happening, it will have to be a dealer call. This behaviour has been since the bike came out of dealers for the cam recall work. That's worrying, but might just be coincidence. New map was uploaded to ECU at the time too.
  9. No. It doesn't even try to click. Some other electrickery thing, rather than mechanical.
  10. Maybe change the plan for lunch destination at Portrush. It will be hectic, as it's the annual raft race as well as the holiday weekend.
  11. It's not those common things. It's always 'felt' like what Hubert calls a 'network' problem. I don't think it's a mechanical type thing. Starter never clicks nor any other sign of feeble life. It's just - nothing. Then after a while of pushing the button, electric flows. In the original post, I should have said 'pushing button', not 'turning the key'.
  12. I never got a visit to check. He had said that bikes could be put inside in a yard, though a previous group just parked outside. I'm thinking that we'll park in the yard.
  13. The ferry gets into Belfast at 11.50am. Depends how long it takes to get off etc. They probably won't arrive at Portaferry before before 1.30pm. I should really have stayed at home Thursday night too, as it will be Friday afternoon before people arrive. But as I say, I might go back for a meet-up at the ferry. Unless it's raining.
  14. Here's hoping for sunshine at the weekend. It's rainy with showers now, meant to improve by the end of the week. We'll be ok
  15. Coded ignition key for Griso 1200 model. The head has broken off the key shank. Key fob jammed between key and handlebars when the handlebars were turned and it quickly snapped off. Is it important that the key shank is physically /electrically connected to the transponder in the key head? Does the shank play any part in increasing the signal strength? I guess there is a rechargeable battery in the key head? Is it charged via the key shank? I've just paid £200 for replacement ignition lock with 2 keys. I don't know what it would cost to get another new key now, or what the process is for re-coding.
  16. More hope of this being seen here than in the Carc forum. Re Griso When the ignition key is turned and [edit] the start button pushed, nothing at all happens for a few seconds. It can take 3, 4, 5 seconds or so before juice flows and the starter turns. What might be causing this delay? May be only a few seconds, but in some circumstances it seems like an eternity.
  17. See you soon. Stockport Trev, you are getting the same crossing as Mr& Mrs Guzzirider (and their supply of yoghurts - yes, DO ask)? Bertie should be here Thursday night. We may ride up to meet you all at the ferry. We'll see. There will probably be a few folk staying for only one night, so I have asked about getting the larger dorm for those one-nighters. I have ordered cooked breakfasts for Sat & Sun mornings. Apart from that, it is self-catering and eating out. Saturday will be Antrim Coast Road and we'll aim to be in Portrush for lunch at 2pm (Guy, Helen: Morelli's for frozen yog) Any queries, ask here. If you want my mobile number, send a PM.
  18. ! Only undo the allen bolts, then lever/shock the cover off. Don't fiddle with the adjuster.
  19. I think it's not so bad as it first looked. Rain has messed up the day. Edit: Sadly, Mark Young has died from his serious injuries.
  20. Weather been causing delays, but here's just been some stunning dicing with the 600s, Plater / Anstey. Plater did good. Michael Dunlop has come on a bit! (Guy- There has been a critical injury. Plus other breaks and injuries.)
  21. Coverage now There is live streaming from the NW200 at http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/nw200/
  22. Have fun I'm surprised that you taking your wife too.
  23. Excellent. There are a couple of boys thinking of coming up from Tullamore direction, but it will be just for Saturday night. They've been at Inchigeela. Jim Rogers I think? Blue Le Mans 1
