  1. No, sorry, didn't make it very clear - at idle, with lights on 13.5V, at 4000rpm I get 12.5V

    Not what I was expecting.....

Just to put more detail in there: Electrex recommend direct connection of the positve and earth directly to the battery. I originally tried just to use the same connections as the OEM R/R but couldn't get the charge light to work. Apart form the wierd output at the battery, the bike seems to run OK. In fact, cranking speed seemed slightly higher when I fired her up.

I'm going to re-run the checks again today and get some more accurate readings, but I don;t know if this will help.......

  2. I've just installed an Electrex RR51 reg/rec on the V11 Le Mans. Voltage readings before/after are:

    Ignition off  12/12.3

    Ignition on   12/12.3

Ignition on, engine at idle  13.5/14.4 (with lights on, about 1V lower)

Ignition on, engine at 4000rpm  13.5/13.5

I'm really confused by the voltage drop with the new reg/rec at 4000rpm

The unit was originally bought for my old 900SS bevel but never fitted, but general opinion is that it's OK to fit to the V11 (tried asking Electrexworld but they weren't very helpful......)

Any ideas as to why I'm getting these anomalies? Assumed that the voltage would climb from 13.5 at idle up to 14.5ish at 3000 - 4000 rpm

The reason I changed the reg was that I was getting varied reliability - had to be trailered home once, and then a subsequent trip, i only just made it home from a similar distance (engine died in outside lane of motorway :o , also stalling at lights and occasional misfire. General opinion was that the fault possibly lay with faulty charging.

  3. Carbtune is really nice.  I borrowed one from a friend and synched it up around 2k.  The bike is a little better but still has a slight hiccup around 3-4k.  I reset the TPS and everything but the idle trim has been verified.  I'm waiting on a USB cable to arrive.  Thanks for all the help folks.

I used a Carbtune when I had the Ducati - nice piece of kit. When i ahev worked out hw to use it on the Lemans, I will! Any queries are dealt with very swiftly by John Morgan who appears to be a very knowledgable and helpful chap.

I have an identical problem with the Lemans - cutting out at stops/lights, and an intermittent and momentary loss of power at cruising speeds. Just applied copper slip to the temperature sensor so will see if this has any effect. I bought the bike with a PCIII fitted - not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.

  4. The forum on the MGCGB appears to have a problem - a virus I assume? It's all gone very quiet over the last few days - almost unheard of!!

Anybody heard any reasons why this has happened? Need my fix!

  5. Thanks Mznyc,

our Springs have been somewhat hit & miss for the last few years, but I remain optimistic. A truly wonderful area to ride in good weather.

I'm going over the bike thoroughly once it arrives, and will report on its' condition!

Any thoughts on risers mentioned in the thread a couple down from here? It's the only change I am planning in the short-term, but will be looking to fit X-over and Mistrals/Quills at some point, cash permitting!

It is already fitted with a Power Commander by a previous owner. Anything I need to know about this and what to do with it? I've spent the last 15 years with a Ducati 900SS bevel, so the most complex bit of electronics was the RITA ignition.....

  6. Morning all,

I'm just about to take delivery of a 2002 V11 Le Mans: I'm getting it from a dealer so I don't anticipate any major problems in the short term, but would like any tips on what to look out for in the first couple of months so I can take advantage of the warranty they offer. It's only got 13000 miles on it, so barely run in....

REALLY looking forward to riding it! (Just looking out for some nice risers - see existing thrread below). My encounters with Guzzi owners so far has been very positive - slightly unhinged but friendly and helpful!

    Cheers

  7. The risers are installed angled towards the rear, they are designed this way. There is no problem with clearing the fairing if they are installed this way. If you want I can take some detail pictures and post here, just let me know.

yes please the old back and shoulders ain't what they used to be. also did u buy them in bris-vegas biggrin.gif

    Here's a couple Gavo

    Hi there,

New to this forum and awaiting delivery of my LeMans next week. These risers are exactly what I'll be after - who makes tham and where can I get a set? (If it's MPH there's nothing on their website like this :-(  )

Looking forward to many conversations with Guzzisti!!
