  1. There are at least 2 cases of flywheel failure documented on this forum. I don't have them archived or I'd link them. They can be found if you dig deep enough. Proof enough to make me swap my clutch and flywheel, as many others have done. If yours didn't fracture, you had good fortune. I hope it lasts. Mine didn't fail in 11,500 mi. from new, nor was it cracked when I removed it. Not everyone's shift selector spring broke either, but my personal preference was to swap it out and not be constantly wondering how much time is left before I'm stranded, or worse. All (or most) 2002 engine cases had the paint problem. The factory offered a fix but I didn't bother. When I swapped the clutch, I stripped and painted the motor.
  2. I have put my Scura up for sale. It is a "world" version and is not currently eligible for import into the U.S. 9,200Km. Asking $10,000 Cdn, Firm. Happy to work with Canadian or overseas buyers on shipping arrangements. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Moto-Guzzi-V11-Sport-Scura/274142904639?hash=item3fd430c13f:g:DHUAAOSwdQhd9Ppy
  3. Hello, Ik have a Scura in 2009 they replaced the cluth for a GU01080140, but now my clutch is slipping. I'm trying to find a new Clutch disk GU01084440, but is is not longer availible. I called TLM (the importer in the Netherlands) and they only tell me to replace it for a double plate clutch, and it will set me back 2000,- euro. Now i have heard it is possible te replace de friction pads on te clutch disk, but to do this, i need to know how thick was the clutch plate. Can anyone tell me this? kind regards, Jorrit
  4. I have been talking to Ohlins USA in NC about servicing a rear shock I'm going to be putting on my Griso. The helpful tech there, Matt, seemed to know his stuff. This weekend the American International Motorcycle Expo was here in Columbus, OH, so on Saturday morning I got there early, before the lifestyle bikers, to poke around. Turns out the show was geared more towards dealers & wholesale purchasers than riders ; I was talking to a nice salesman from Pakistan about a gauntlet knuckle reinforced leather glove. When It came to cost he asked how many units & freight terms. Mind you he also gave me a quote of $16.53 for a goatskin glove ! Towards the back of the Hall I found the Ohlins booth and co-incidentally the tech I'd talked to, Matt. It was early & traffic was low & we had a chance to talk. Turns out he's had a few Guzzi's and currently is cleaning up a neglected Scura. As well as being knowledgable about the Ohlins componets that fit on our beloved V11's, he had a good grasp of the influence on Guzzi & Italien bikes generally, of cash flow, Piaggio & Aprilia over the last few decades. All in all I came away feeling like I had found a friend, someone who understands why we love the flawed individualistic amazing machines we do. And another great place like Harpers, MG Cycle, Moto International etc where we can talk to a knowledgeable Technician.
  5. Hello All. I’ve decided to sell my beloved V11 Scura #599. This was not an easy decision as i’ve thoroughly enjoyed this bike for the past 5 years, but i’ve decided to get a sport touring bike for long distance tours. For those of you who may not know, the Scura is a very limited edition version of the V11 Sport with many upgrades including Ohlins suspension front and rear, Ohlins steering damper, carbon fiber fenders, air pods, tank and gauge panel, uprated Brembo brakes, single disc clutch and lightweight aluminum flywheel. This has to be one of the best Scuras in the country - its in near perfect condition with all recommended service up to date. It had a full rear end service 3 years (4,500 miles) ago with front and rear splines lubricated. Both transmission and rear end gear oil were changed two years ago, and of course engine oil changed annually. The front forks were serviced and seals replaced 3 years ago. The following is the list of upgrades I’ve done in the past few years: Mistral Carbon Fiber Slip ons $1100 Mistral Crossovers $350 K&N Air Filter Power Commander III with installed map for the above modifications $350 Ghezzi Brian Carbon Fiber Chin Spoiler $350 Custom black leather seat cover with red stitching $150 Lightweight lithium battery $175 Tekno saddle bags and frames (made specifically for the V11) $250 Pazzo adjustable levers Polished aluminum valve covers The result is a lighter bike (16 pounds lighter due to the Mistral exhaust and lithium battery) with about a 5% increase in power. It runs very strong, and sounds great - somewhat louder than stock. Everything works, no leaks, clutch is very snappy with no drag. Needs nothing. Current Mileage is 24,500. Price: $6700. Please email me @ 749corsa@gmail.com with any questions and for additional photos. Thank you. Greg

  9. reading through the forum, I was reminded about MPH Cycles in Houston and how they helped me on a cross the USA trip many years ago. I asked them for a speedometer transmission (part no. 01 76 25 60) for my 2002 Scura, see no.5 in attachment. MPH said after checking with MG, the part is discontinued (ie, not available) and said I would have to ebay for it. Can a guy rebuild it? I understand the part is only used in V11 Sport models. Any advice would be helpful. Cheers, James

  11. Hi. Please excuse me if it's not the right section. As a lot of people, I was wondering about changing the plate holder of my Scura (I think it's too "heavy" for the stye of the bike) but, due to my delay, I've problems on finding something on the market. So I ask you: is there any chance, for me? Honestly, I'm not so willing to change the rear light or the indicators. Maybe, someone is wiling to share his experience, maybe with something homemade Thank you very much for your help
  12. I'm desperately looking for the model in object I lost an online auction on eBay and, when I found it at a french seller, he canceled the sell 'cause he had no more. I already have the other 3 models of same line, Tenni, Le Mans and Sport, but I really would find this one 'cause is the replica of my Tenebris Thanks a lot! I post an image as example:
