Oil leak

Well I finally got heat in the garage, cleaned it up and sorted out the tools.

I plan to replace the my leaky Sucks shock with a Willlburs and put some new

fork springs in....address the headlight and free up juice for bar heat...

get the charging light to stay off...service the drive train...etc..etc...etc..

But first...chase my oily ooze down. I thought I'd be at it a lot sooner but it was

an unbelievable winter so I let her oooze. And ooze she did. Can it possibly be just from the

chain tower seam? The oil line on top and other penetrations look fine.

Whadya think?

Chasing a leak

How do I get these pics in order? Oh well...

Hey Weej --

If you let 'er go f'er another winter, by then she'll be a sorta uniform "asphalt" consistency, and you won't notice any NEW leaks a-tall! ;)

Just pullin' y'er leg. Looks like a well-ridden scooter, alright. :P

But seriously -- How're ya gonna find the leak without gettin' all that grime off FIRST??

All the Gold Bond will show is that the whole mess is . . . . . . well, . . . . . A WHOLE MESS?!?! :huh2:

Have you checked the condition of the breather hose that runs up to the forward frame condensor input at the bottom of the spine, behind the steering head? Mine started to let go a couple years back. The stock one and replacements from Guzzi are evidently made from used Italian condominiums. <_< Replaced mine with high temp bulk hose & a few "ells" & she's been seep-free ever since.

Good luck :luigi:

:P:P:P Thats what I was thinkin'...just let it turn to tar and seal itself. :P

I've put 2000mi on it since I THOUGHT I would be putting it away.

I did clean all the areas I thought were suspect before I rolled her in flour.

I just wanted to get some idea what it might be while I could still run it/

before disassembly. Removing the T case cover looks like no fun seein' how

it's an engine mount so I was praying it was one of the penetrations seals or

oil line. Breather hose...? God usually has more fun with me than that..but a good call.

I'll be rattling your cage when I pull those forks apart...looking forward to new springs

and a new Willlllburs.

Ah, Springtime and New Willlllbers. Wot could be finer?

I'll bet you get more miles -- happier ones too -- than ever next year. :race:

BAA, TJM & YMMV ;)

I guarantee I'll be riding a lot more. Not only will my bike be all

fresh but I've unburdened myself of the ol' ball and chain.

Already locked into W.Va/ Deals Gap big Guzzi rally and a Michigan trip...

It was 23deg. here today...I've got about 4-5 weeks to get the bike right then we'll be

over 40 every day...I'll be hard to find on the week ends... :P:bike:

@ 30K mi I guess I should check the swingarm bearings too ...

hmmm... it's starting to look like "just pull the motor" time.

I'll see what I think after I pull the plastic and tank off....get a look

@ whats involved with the hoses and wires.

Veck,

i had a leak from the oil pressure sensor nestled nicely between the cylinders, around the crush washer.

Because it was on top, the oil seeped both to the front, and the rear of the heads, making it very difficult to spot initially, made hell of a mess !

just a thought.

My timing chest blew out two gaskets under warranty. I finally fixed by ditching the gasket and using hylomar instead. Problem fixed. My money is on the chest.

OV, while you are looking at the oil lines, there was a fixture on my frame (right side I think) under the tank that is part of the breather system---mine was loose and oozing oil into the wiring harness...but my memory of it places it adjacent to the rear of the cylinders. k

Would that be it?
