dp.guzzi Posted March 28, 2007 Share Posted March 28, 2007 This is not really a new topic, but it is a report of my sad experience. Yesterday I went for a ride after work. The night before I had been reading abhout the transmission failure that occurs around 5000 miles. I was having a nice ride, but then I downshifted and nothing happened. Yep, at 5490 miles, mine went out. Stuck in 5th (I think) gear. I knew exactly what the problem was, thanks to this forum. I rode it to the place I bought it and left it with them. They are not Guzzi specialists, but I showed the service manager this web site. I hope they can fix it, and I hope they don't take forever to do so. Needless to say, I am bummed out. Paul Minnaert Posted March 28, 2007 Share Posted March 28, 2007 just tell them to take the cover behind the starter engine off. After they drained the oil of the gearbox:-). The rest explains itself. It is easy to make a picture of the position of the 2 gears on that cover before disassembling, that makes figuring out how they were before easy. Crooz Posted March 29, 2007 Share Posted March 29, 2007 Man what timing.... just today I decided to offically keep my LeMans, & put it on the road this coming Friday. I've had it since October, ridden it 600 miles, but never registered it & legally tagged it. I also ordered the new spring today. This evening late I took it out for a 20 mile loop. While riding, thinking "you know, it may never break" and also looking forward to leagally riding it this weekend. Now I get this reality check when I return and log on. Sorry it happened to you!
