Thanks to the slimy wrench maven at the dealership who did the last oil change on my Sport prior to my ownership, stripped it out and glued it back in with sealant to cover his butchery, I'm still SEMI-PAINFULLY aware. :glare:

 

This^ served to shore-up my 100% lifetime DIY record and philosophy on all moto service.

 

It's M10x1.5. HeliCoil kit #770-3094 from NAPA Auto Parts will make the sump plug threads more durable than OE.

Thats exactly what happened only this guy drilled and reamed for a threaded steel plug but didn't "dutch pin it" so it just goes round n round nevermind the mess and embarrassment it leaves behind.

 

I'm going to machine a new plug out of alum. and have a bead welded around it. End of leak!!!!!

Chris, I'd be VERY careful about welding the alu sump casting.

 

They can (and will) warp up something fierce. Please don't ask how I learned this 30 years ago. . . :rolleyes:
