Guest oldtoolie
Occasionally when downshifting at around town speeds, the gear lever stays down and feels a bit loose. Jiggling it with my foot makes it pop back up. Is this the dreaded return spring getting ready to break? Or what? Bike -- 2001 V11 sport.
Guest Bruce
It could be the linkage. Mine did the same thing before I went through it carefully. Based on other posts poor linkage assembly/set-up is common. How many miles do you have on the bike? Good luck.
Guest oldtoolie
The bike has about 20,000 miles on it. I think I will buy a couple of the springs just in case. But if it's something else, I'd like to deal with it.
twhitaker
When my shifter return spring went south it left me with no symptoms like yours. Check the long bolt the shifter lever pivots upon. Mine was overly tight and held the lever in both the up and down positions. That pivot needs to be lubricated occasionally.
