I'm mostly a commuter rider, and narrowing the strips requires twisty bits of road, not freeways and surface streets laid on a grid plan. On the few occasions that I've made a run for the hills, I find that my confidence in my tires' adhesion does not outstrip my reason, ie: I ride fast enough to suit myself and haven't managed to crash yet.
