callison Posted March 20, 2005 Share Posted March 20, 2005 Cliff Jeffries called me a month or two ago using Skype. If we had both been using Skype (I'm not), I'm sure it would have worked better. As it was, there was a sawtooth 2 second automatic gain control problem that made intellible conversation impossible. Now that Skype has a Macintosh version, I'll have to get up to speed on that. Cliff Posted March 21, 2005 Share Posted March 21, 2005 The SkypeOut feature that allows dialling normal phones can be trying especially when calling "local" numbers here in Australia. I think my calls where going to europe via the internet and then coming back here as a phone call. Makes for very long lag. Skype to Skype works much better as it is peer to peer. No servers in beween. I had an 1 hour call to Rob Macfie ( Australia - UK ) and we were both impressed with the quality and minimal lag.
