I have a 2004 V11 Sport Ballabio with 36,000 miles on the clock, bought with a salvage title in 2010 when it had 5,000 miles .One odd thing, it had bronze colored valve cover's. I had them painted in the frame/wheel color and just repainted them and the wheel's. The image is old, I have a full Mistral system on it now.

Maybe post the VIN for comparative purposes. Was it a cosmetic total or some other damage?

  2. Don't know if this helps, but there is an O-ring specialist in the Czech Republic (Bohemia Seal). They stock an amazing variety of sizes and materials in O-rings and all manner of seals. They sell primarily on eBay. They came to my rescue when I needed a very specific O-ring for a SRAM 9.0 rear derailleur I was modifying.  https://www.ebay.com/str/bohemiasealoring/O-ring-inner-dia-from-10-to-20/_i.html?store_cat=25950217018

  3. So many compromises were made. Aprilia did well with their improvements, but the bike strikes me as the motorcycle version of a "resto-mod" vintage V8 car, by upgrading to modern suspension, tires, brakes and electronics. The final version works quite well, but the design, for all of its lovability, was shall we say, very mature.

It is difficult to explain, but I think that Aprilia's thinking (technologically) was looking down on Guzzi hoping to raise it while Piaggio's is looking from below and not exactly certain of what to do. Suffice it to say there will never be another V11.

I suspect (but do not know) that the frame mounted kit, as on @Randown's nice Ballabio, offers more stability at speed (The fairing not jostling the forks as on the standard Sports) and a bigger "air capsule" for the rider behind the flyscreen.

Well, at 120-130K one-handed, it is rather peaceful. Downside: Every kid in a slammed Civic or Jetta wants to race.

Thanks Scud, in my mind the V11's are special - they're nice to look at while on a kickstand but with a rider onboard both are elevated next level. The result is greater than the sum. Kinda like the Beatles. The lines + the slightly longer WB visually proportion well. Even the most harshest critics, adolescents, have remarked out of a car window. Millenial SOA types on HDs love it. I guess I don't need to tell you.

Nice! Almost exactly the mileage on my '04 when I bought it. As to desireability, a "homeless" young woman holding a cardboard sign at the freeway off-ramp stopped begging for a moment and said "Nice bike."

I'll grant you that I have the red version.

Thx 80CX. I've got the same part securely fastened to the bike.

I reassembled the headlight using the "spacer" about that bottom center screw. The minor corrosion deposits on the spacer at each end aligned with deposits on the screw, and along with the screw/spacer OD/ID consistency..well....too much of a coincidence not to believe that's where it was installed.

Oh yeah. Wrestled with that bit on my '04. It is a combo rim attachment/anti-crush device that is apparently installed at the factory with the light pointing vertically.

  7. If I can buy fresh Mikuni VM24 carb tops for my 1966 Yamaha, then someone will certainly step up in the case of Guzzi. And, higher grade materials would likely be used, if one is going to all that trouble.

I have yet to meet a rider who doesn't want to try this.

    Chris.

This video is a hoot to watch. Hilarious Aussie take (oh, I'll hear about that...) on Italian engineering and craftsmanship. Was laughing out loud. Even though Jay confused the bevel drive with the Desmo system.
