  1. Gang this appeared after washing the bike, so I'm immediately suspecting water in a connection.. but thought I'd throw it out there. Started the bike, and all the idiot lights went out except the oil light.. Shut it down, and restarted but the light remained on... So before I clean connections etc.. any other things to watch out for? Thanks, Tim

    3 oil leaks

hey I'm still laughing from the Lucky Charms crack... Ya. this showed up after the 1000 mile service and I know they greased it all.. The service rep said that if it was oil you'd see pools of it, whereas grease will fling out onto the rim and stay there.. btw.. just saw your V11 in the gallery.. sweet.. that ain't no Solex.

Here's a photo of the weepage... ( is that even a word ??) This section was clean prior to the start of track day, and I put about 100 miles on it during the 4 sessions...

Docc I have the same rear wheel splatter on my 2001 v11... I've taken it round to the dealer, and his first thought was grease from the splines.. He said that there are two seals.. one is an easy replace, the other is more time consuming... He will look at it the next time I bring the bike in.. probably replace the easy one first and see if it fixes the problem. Regards, Tim
  5. but the rear is a bit more problematic.... Apart from any marks on the cans, what's the consensus on using the hangers as tiedown points?
  6. so after consideration I will be trailering the V11 to Seca for the track day... Rather than putting the soft ties up on the bars I've secured the front as such: Does this seem reasonable ?
  7. I have about 2800 miles on my 2001 V11 Sport and it vibrates a lot at 4000-4300 which is about 80ish in 6th... I too will ride it at 5000 in 5th where its smoother and am looking forward to it generally smoothing out with higher miles... Cheers, Tim
  8. Rotorhead I think I may have the same rattle on my 2001 V11 Sport.. Haven't yet checked it out, but I think there's a resonant vibration somewhere around 1500 rpm.. Will probably check tonight and post.. How do you like the Staintunes? Should the budget allow, that's a set of pipes I have been considering. Thanks, Tim
  9. Hey Neighbor check out this link on the Corbins.... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1291 Cheers, Tim

    Best helmet?

I use two.. I like my Nolan flip up because I don't have to take off my glasses... but it always makes me feel a little less protected... so I've started wearing my Arai more.. and will probably never go back to the Nolan.. Get a good helment.. and more importantly wear it correctly !!
  11. ditto on that.. I've had mine for about 6 weeks... it's getting to be second nature...
  12. Thanks for this thread.. I received my kit about a month ago, and have delayed putting it on.. But perhaps will do so now. Cheers, Tim
  13. Mike Thanks for the kind offer... Let me know what works for you this weekend, and Mother's Day festivities permitting, maybe I can scoot by to grab them .. Failing that, maybe a ride next weekend? Cheers, Tim
  14. Make SURE the screws holding the end caps are on tight and use Loctite..!! After I drilled mine, I lost two screws due to vibration ! Cheers, Tim
  15. The kids are off visiting their grandparents... I'll probably head over from Danville.. What time do people usually show up? Thanks, Tim
  16. Chris In Europe/UK markets I believe its called the GTR1000. Best bang for the buck long distance bike. Its been around and basically unchanged for about 17 yrs. Cheers, Tim
  17. Was out riding yesterday w/ a friend, her on the Guzzi and me on the Concours.. We were curious about the Guzzi's speedo accuracy, and agreed to signal each other at 70 and 80 mph. From what we can tell, the Guzzi was showing 70mph when my Connie was at 65, and the Guzzi was showing 80mph when the Connie was at 73mph.. So.. a couple of questions.. Are the Guzzi speedo's more "optimistic" than normal, and can you adjust or calibrate the Guzzi speedo??? Of course it could be that the Guzzi is accurate and my Connie is off... but I thought I'd start w/ the Guzzi.. Thanks, Tim 2001 V11 Sport 2002 Kawasaki Concours 1978 GS550E
  18. I emailed the seller about a week ago, and have not had a response... Hopefully he'll email and I'll share the information w/ this forum. Regards, Tim 2001 V11 Sport 2002 Kawasaki Conours 1978 GS550E
  19. Hi All I'm 43 yrs old and have been riding since 1976.. Owned many different bikes including CB350, 441Victor, 1969 Ambo, 1979 GS750E, W650.. Currently have a restored 1978 GS550, my 2002 Concours on which I did the 50cc this past January, and my new 2001 V11 Sport.. Got it 10 days (and 654 miles) ago from Munroe Motors. 2 kids, lovely wife of 18yrs.. Kids have dirt bikes.. wife wishes us well and stays at home when we ride ;-) Originally from Toronto, Canada.. parents emigrated there in1959 from Belfast.. so hello to BelfastGuzzi !. Moved down here to Bay Area 7 yrs ago, and love the fact that I can ride across country in January !! First memory of Guzzi was around 1976 at Mosport race track north of Toronto for bike races and underage drinking.... Saw a guzzi with big carbs & velocity stacks, and the carbs looked like beer steins... Must have been straight pipes because it felt like a hammer hitting my chest from 20 ft away as it idled.. Fell in love with the sound of guzzi back then, and am looking to modify the exhaust as soon as I can !! Regards. Tim
