  1. Finally moving in. I left the wood natural, and taking docc’s good advice for an acid wash, gave it all a scrub with a vinegar/water/soap solution and a final rinse. It still smells like an Easter egg but I feel pretty good about the state of the old wood. I’ll put in some pegboard and bring more stuff in next week, but it’s great to finally have a workable space.

  2. I recall hearing that if the stock ECU is remapped, eventually over time it will restore itself to the factory settings. I don’t remember the source for this nor the details, and I may be misremembering anyway as this was when I first got my bike. But is this factual, and if so what happens and how does one maintain for it?

......I'm still of the opinion that the later frame was designed primarily for the addition of the LeMans to the expanding line....

How so? Could not a LeMans do with the shorter frame?

I thought the V11 was basically a naked LeMans?

btw, thanks all for the encouraging info on an Ohlins / red frame marriage. I’ve not ridden a long frame bike, but I find my short red frame bike stable enough and fairly nimble considering her weight. The suspension feels a bit harsh at times, and I am sure that when I finally get around to sorting out what ever it needs it will perform better. But perhaps an Ohlins equipped red frame V11 would be a grand thing!

  4. Thank you, footgoose. I went to Home Depot today and rented a 2000psi gas pressure washer. Dang . That sucker kicks. Your 3800psi one must have been like wrestling an alligator!

A lot of gunk got washed off and flushed out, and I feel pretty good about the cleaner state of the walls and floor. I’ll let the garage air out for a week and proceed next weekend.

    cheers!

  5. After doing a good vacuum and sweep of the garage, I think I want to pressure wash everything to get the dirt etc off of the wood. I know I can rent a pressure washer, but are there decent pressure washers to buy for not too much, like around $200 or so? Any recommendations? It seems like that would be a handy thing to have around, and I can find other uses it may be a good thing to just buy to have around.

  6. Thanks, fotoguzzi. This home is overall pretty “rustic”, and that’s putting it euphemistically. Keeping the raw wood look is cool, but how would you go about giving the wood a deep cleaning? This room saw a lot of interior humidity with mushroom spore and other crap floating around. I was concerned that the wood may been damaged from this, but it looks ok, however it’s dirty. That was part of the appeal of vacuuming away the cobwebs and giving it a coat of paint. Is it safe to hose down the walls, or is that a bad idea?

  7. Hi folks,
I am getting ready to revive an old garage to be put back to use as an actual garage / workshop. I would love to hear about and see pics of similar projects and garages. Any thoughts and advice is greatly appreciated!
The garage is 18’x11’, detached from our 1928 Spanish style house in Southern California. When we moved in 10 years ago the garage was put to horticultural use, mostly for mushroom production. It’s no longer needed for that, and I am really looking forward to having a dedicated workspace for wrenching and whatever else. It should be enough space to have a decent workbench and the Guzzi inside with room to get around. My tools have been spread out between two sheds and a spare bedroom, and the best workspace space that I’ve had since moving here has been under a carport, not an ideal situation, so this is an exciting project for me. This morning I got the last of the old ag junk out, and I am about to vacuum the walls and scrub the floor. I am leaning toward the idea of painting the walls to cleanup and brighten the space, but am not sure if I would leave it as exposed studs or install some sort of paneling.
