  1. Castrol 75-W140 Synthetic plus MoS2 for the gears, Liqui Moly 10-W40 MoS2 partly synthetic for the engine. I seldom change the engine oil, just fill up when the light comes on, that's after about 6000 km. I have to add that the V11 seldom sees a run shorter than one hour.

I believe in MoS2, not so much in the carrier oil. All my bikes and cars believe the same and don't make any problems.

Thank God this woman survived some rough years. I get the privilege of seeing her for the second time on Oct 1.

    How was the concert?

It was great. She is beautiful, and in top form. She was warm, witty, funny, honest, energetic, and grateful. She sang most of the songs I wanted to hear. The contrast between her intimate and humble offerings juxtaposed with a sea of cell phone screens, was astounding. With the encore came "My California" which calmed the audience long enough for most to sit, stfu, and listen.

    ....

Found that nice pic below. Quite ambivalent feelings in the audience :)

  3. You know I grew up with these things as in I had friends that owned them so I knew what they were like. Believe me you're not missing anything.

Heavy, tall, an engine that was full of roller bearings so was really mechanically noisy in a rumbly sort of way and high frequency vibrations. Multi bearing pressed up crank like a Z900 but not as reliable.  Back in the 80's parts were hard to get, god knows what they are like now.

One for the lounge room I think.

    Ciao

No nonono, you're missing everything. Laverda was my Italian socialisation, too. Never rode one, never owned one, but I definitely do know I'd buy one should I have the opportunity. At once!

    Laverda 1200

In the early eighties sometimes we were up to 6 bikes, 5 of those with 3-in-1-to-nothing, me on my 750S with 2-in-2-to-nothing, seldom below 6K, and this was not on the race track.

  4. Best option on the long run. No wrinkle, though.

More important as the V would be stopping the crack by drilling a small hole at the end of it.

I know a guy who used such a box for over a year on the race track before he eventually brought it to the welder.

  5. No catastrophic failure. Just a few spots on the garage floor and a burnt x-over. To the smell you can get used, after a year or so you'll probably miss it.

Other question: Is it possible to mount the newer subframe to the KRs? Has anyone tried that before? While I didn't have a broken case so far I found the lower cross bolt loose several times over the years now. Scud could be right with the impression that KR frame and drive train are a bit 'elastic' at this point.

  6. Tell me I've got those two hoses back where they belong .. I got in a hurry when I pulled the tank .

    ..

Looks good to me. You're talking about the two smaller ones going to those two hard to reach tank nipples, I suppose. If in doubt, take the hoses out or leave them unplugged, They're for venting resp. overflow. Mine are out since I removed the tank the second or third time, hurting my fingers.

  7. Another one:

This one was made somewhere in Russia (if not it was a good story at least), picture taken in 2005 I think.

Rear tyre was a 190, on a broader rim.

This Scura was loud, aggressive, fast, beautiful ...

I had my Greeny for less then a year these days and was really beginning to suffer from its OEM exhausts and its greenish fairing when I met this guy in the NL at one of Jaap's meetings. It somewhat changed my bike's life :)

  8. The Ex-Box costs a lot of high end power. The headers are conical and rather light. Overall manufacturing is rather poor. The sound is different, in an old thread Belfast said, the sound reminds him of a typical WW1 plane, quite the opposite of the oncoming thunder storm.

I have one since 10 years, recently switched back to the round and open Ti Mistrals I bought in 2005, because something inside the Ex-Box broke loose and awaits fixing now. The Mistral types are a lot manlier, rather the correct thing for a decent Gran Tourismo. While the Ex-Box goes right to the ears, the unmuffled Mistrals rather go to the neighbours' window panes and glass cabinets.

That said, I hope I'll have the Quat-D ready 'till next year, just in time for the next season. I'm deeply hooked.

This was en route to Stelvio..stunning. Bike was filthy from riding through Austria in the rain.

You still have a lot to learn, man. You never call it "FILTHY". It's not just any bike.

Practice sentences including expressions 'disastrous rain', 'reliable and confident', 'brought me home', 'wifey loves it' (ok, better don't overstress), words like that. When you're new you might have some problems, then, a couple of days later, the right words should come fluently. Exercise, later on this will ease your Guzzista experience.

Glad, though, that you put up the nice pics.
