    New Guy

Not everone here is an ex-squid. USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 2000-2005, current station NAS Sigonella. I've noticed more and more military people getting into riding these days. Might have something to do with the confiment of a boat. Maybe the only way to fell free is to take a spin down the road on a sunny day. Ciao Z Oh ya, welcome to the forum.
  2. I found that when you close the petcock you can start the bike and let it run it-self dry. That way when you take off the fuel line "most" of the fuel will be drained out. Their will still be a little left in the lines but that can be easly cought by by a rag. I'm not sure about have to prime the system though. Seems to me the fuel pump should do the job for you. I'll let you know when I pick the bike up in Sicily. Your right though, this job sucked. I think though that next time will be easier. With the execption of droping the tank on the cement I feel prity good about how the whole thing went. I won't feel nearly as nervous the next time I have to do it. Thanks for everyones help. Z
  3. Okay, words of wisdom, DON'T ACCADENTLY BUMP THE BIKE WHEN THE GAS TANK IS PROPED UP ON A 2X4!!!! Now I have beautifull scraps going down the side of the gas tank.
  4. I've already managed to lift the tank up with only removing 5 bolts so far. Besides, I'm working in a storage garage and loose nuts, bolts and parts have a way of disappering in cluttered areas.
  5. I've found that it you remove the four side and gently pull the tank up you don't have to remove the whole thing.
  6. Thats the one Jason, Mine has a clamp on it though, I'll try to get a screwdriver to it and try prying it off. Already managed to get the wires diconnected. Thanks everyone. Z
  7. Okay, out playin with the bike tryin to get the tank off. I see the fuel pump suction and the fuel retern line, already disconnected the gas cap drain line, what the heck is the 4th line of the tank? I left the shop manual at home and I have no way to get it. Feelin dumb
  8. Thanks Steve. I wish I'd had more time to work on this. Unfortunitly I have limited access to the garage that I'm using to store my bike for the winter (budies garage, been gone for the last 15 days on leave, forgot to leave me the garage door opener Thanks Z
  9. Picked up an '00 Le Mans back in September from Ride West BMW. She'd been a trade in with only 600 mi on her and I'd always wanted to ride a Guzzi. Well after the test ride I found my self goin over my bills in my head to see if I could swing the $9000 bucks to get her. 8 hr later I was screaming down I5 on Aphreal. Life was good. Unfortunitly soon after that my ship went out to sea for a month or two and by the time I got back I only had about a month of riding left in the sesson. On top of that I had to start gettin my life ready to transfer over to sicily for a few years. I hate winter in the north west. In the mean time though I have managed to fix a few things on the girl. First thing I did was the brake in maintance about the middle of october and found out that these bikes are REALLY fun to work on. A lot easier then my Jap bikes are. After that it was the TPS and most resently the choke spring. Anyway, better stop rambling. Looking forward to riding in Sicily. I anyone knows of a good roads over thier let me know. Thanks Z
