  1. If it does need replacement, yes the harley tps will work.
  2. Ok, I went back under the tank and found the 2 bullit connectors and they were joined together in a loop from some previous owner and it was loose.I cut everything and joined the two wires and it fires up everytime so far but i AM wondering why were there two bullit connectors there to begin with if they were connected as one since I have had it and put on 10k miles on it without any real issues???
  3. Ok, I have done all the Obvious things, like relays, new battery, new starter>>the armiture was done, cleaned all the connectors and read a lot of posts. The bike will fire 95% of the time and then it just won't at the oddest time likes as if you don't have a battery in it.I traced the wire that runs from the starter but I could be wrong but I don't see a bullet connector that it leads to. It seems to run together into a mesh of wires that are all wrapped together with no obvious disconect. Now i have read about a possible clutch switch. Where is this located and what should I do next???Thanks in advance Gini
  4. I can tell you that I had to install a new battery on my last trip 2 weeks ago. The battery was a couple years old and it died using my electric jacket and hot grips. The day after the new battery was discharged after using the hot grips for a couple of hours in the mountains in West Virginia. I am going to illiminate the grips this winter and use the gloves when I have to. The 2ksport just doesn"t have it for the little extras. Jacket only has never caused a problem.
  5. I bought the bike with 10k on it. There was a new cable installed at 8k and the bike jsut turned over 20k.
  6. Just got back from a nice ride into North Carolina doing some different back roads through Ohio,West Virginia and Carolina. It was a chance to ride the v11 vs the fjr for a change since my buddies provided all the luggage room that I needed. The bike was fun, fun, fun through the twistees. Anyway, when we were on the i75 through Michigan and Ohio the speedo was haywire from 60 and up. It jumps all over the place making it impossible to know how fast I was going. Below 60, no problem even though the speedo is 4miles/hr optimistic according to the gps. Does anybody out there know why that is? I never had this problem on the Jackal.
  7. I apppreciate all the information. Yes the problem with binding is not there when I down shift to a stop. It's that you can't always down shift when making a quick stop for whatever reason. The situation has been better since i have made some adjustments and lubing like suggested by everyone. I will play with the acorn nut next time and see what happens. This is a problem that I didn't have with the 87 lemans so that is why I am wondering.
  8. Sounds like a good idea.
  9. This is the fix I got from a friend In Toronto that has since sold his v11. I am in the process of aquiring all my parts and will then proceed to illiminate the vapor lock syndrom once and for all. Parts>>> 4" pull through fan from Spal, currently on back order, 156 degree thermal switch that works on air temperature hooked into a relay to the battery. The fan needs to be installed behind the left side of the oil cooler so it pulls air in throught the oil cooler and the thermal switch on the right side. The switch activates the fan when it reaches 156 and shuts off about 146 degrees. It will run maybe a couple of minutes when the bike is shut off when it needs to.He has promised me that this really works. Oh, also heat wrap all the fuel lines as well with thermo shield that is available at any race shop etc.
  10. I did all of the above and went for a ride yesterday. There is a noticable improvement but it did bind on me once, on a slight upgrade. I am just afraid that someday it won't unbind.
  11. I do have redline in the transmission and it was better after an adjustment of the linkage last night. It only happens at a stop or when I am just about stopped. The gear box binds, like it doesn"t want to drop into the next lower gear, going up then back down frees it up. I am just wondering now if I am not being forcefull enough with my foot when gearing down. Like I said, when gearing down to a stop it works beautifully.
  12. The bike is a 2k V11sport with 14k miles on it. Lately, when coming to a stop, i find that the gear shifter jams, if I push up on it, it breaks free and then it will shift down to 1st. This only happens when I am at a stop, it works fine shifting down if I am moving. I made some adjustment on the linkage and it was better last night. Just was wondering if this has anything to do with the pawl spring and it is just warning me in advance?? Thanks Gini
  13. The last two days after a good ride and about an hour later when I went to leave, the bike fires up no problem but has no power like i am out of gas. It stalls, but fires up again ok and off I am to the races. I have read all the posts on the vapour problem but in most of those cases the bike does not fire so I am wondering about what it could be. The bike is in fine tune and runs great. I have the electric petcock on it and will change it once my oil is due for a change so I put installl the roper plate as well. Any ideas????
  14. I have read some posts where the lap top is used for the rev counter. Since my tach took a hike and does not work I need to know what is needed to make this possible? Thanks in advance.
  15. I guess it wouldn't hurt to know if the filters that did fail were installed through the manhole.
