  1. I had good luck with these guys matching paint on my suzuki and they list the V11 Sport green. Good customer service, too. http://www.color-rite.com Select Moto Guzzi under "Color Rite Master Paint List"
  2. I currently have Mistrals on my 2001 V11 with no other performance mods and it feels like the midrange power may have dropped a little bit, but top end may have improved. The biggest difference is the sound, which is great, but I'm thinking of getting a PCIII to get that mid range back. I would guess it's running just a bit lean around 4K rpm. This is where the often noted dip in the power curve occurs, but I didn't notice it at all until I put on the Mistrals. I also never hit the rev limiter before the Mistrals. I guess I'm spending more time in the higher RPMs either because I'm avoiding that power dip or because it just sounds so damn good.
  3. I'm still waiting for Munroe to get the parts in. I need new tires, so maybe if I buy some tires from my dealer and have them install them, they'll get a move on and do my recall work while it's there. Who knows.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I do have another bike (Suzuki Volusia), so it's not like I'm unable to ride at all. It's just that I'll be cruising. I think Al makes a good point about the liability. With a letter from the manufacturer containing a warning in bold type telling me not to ride the bike, I'd say it's pretty much all on me if something went wrong. I was just curious what others are doing. If the V11 were my only bike, I'm pretty sure I'd be riding it.
  5. The recall notice specifically says to NOT ride your bike until the repairs have been made. I'm guessing it's going to be months before this whole process is complete. Is everyone included in the recall still riding their bikes? I'm a bit nervous about my rear wheel locking at speed!! I've had my bike one year and have 9,000 miles on it with no problems, but now I'm scared to ride it! Opinions?
  6. Cool! I live on San Miguel Dr, just a few blocks from downtown. I'm on the other side of the tunnel all the time, though. One of my riding buddies lives in Berkeley. He's riding a 97 Triumph Daytona. We hit up Grizzly Peak once in a while. We used to ride Redwood rd until they repaved it with that gravel! Yeah, send me an email! mike@keypoint.com
  7. Hey Al, are you the guy I met at Mondo Burrito in Santa Clara back in January? I was the guy with the brand new silver V11 Sport. I think it was only my second day riding the bike. At the time I think I was commenting on the vibration, but it has smoothed out substantially since then. If its not raining, maybe I'll into you again at the Guzzi dinner at Alice's. Yes, I'm a wimp. I hate riding in the rain!
  8. Hey Mike-- yeah, I had a maximum bid of 320, so if anyone put anything above that, they would have won. You must have been the last person to bid that pushed the amount up! I just hope they are in as good of shape as the seller says. Thanks to all for the replies about running the pipes with no adjustments. Sounds like I will have to just try it out and see how it goes. I can't wait to really hear this baby. I bought the bike in December and was really sold when I heard a bike in the shop that had Mistrals on it. Gave me goosebumps! I wanted to wait until I had at least 6,000 miles on her before doing anything. I'm at almost 8,000 now- I can't wait!
  9. Hey Mike, I just found this post. Yeah, that other V11 owner that asked him about the pipes was me! My name is Mike, too, so he was probably thinking "how many times do I have to tell this guy?" I was recently over at Motostrano picking up some boots and I asked him about it again. He said he would inquire with Sil Motor for an update. I couldn't wait, so I picked up some Mistrals off ebay for $310. I expect them this Saturday. I don't have a PCIII yet, though. Do you think it would be harmful to run the bike with Mistrals without a PCIII? Maybe I should wait before puting them on.
  10. Awesome!! I'm looking too do almost the exact same thing for the exhaust on my silver v11 sport, but I was wanting to do a brushed aluminum reverse cone. Great job!!! Can you describe the sound for us?
  11. Don't know if they ship internationally, but these guys are great: http://www.color-rite.com/ They have "V11 Sport Green" listed under the "Color Rite Master Paint List" menu on the home page-- not under the "Motorcycle Application Guide".

    side stand

My V11 Sport's sidestand scrapes every so often and at first I didn't mind it because it serves to tell me how far over I am. Yesterday I was riding some twisties with some friends and I leaned on the stand hard enough to reduce weight on the rear wheel and momentarily lose traction. I kept it up and all was fine, but it was very unnerving. The foot of my kickstand has about 1/4 to 3/8 inch grinded away already. I'm going to cut the rubber stopper down to see if that helps a bit. I've never touched down my pegs or stock pipes, so the sidestand is definitely in a bad spot. I have to admit I might miss that gnarly scraping sound through those left-handers, though!
  13. I now have just over 3,000 trouble-free miles on my '01 V11 Sport that I picked up in December. The bike has been perfect. It's basically my weekend fun bike, and my other bike, a cruiser, is used for commuting during the week. Anyway, I had the oil changed at 500 miles and again at 1000 miles. The manual says I don't need to worry about it again until the 6000 mile mark. I'm just curious why they wouldn't recommend more frequent oil changes? I know it's good to do it every 3000 miles, which I plan to do, but I'm just curious why the manual would suggest such wide maintenance intervals. Any thoughts?
  14. I have Progressive and they charge me about $300 a year for full coverage on my Suzuki Volusia. When I went to add my '01 V11 Sport, they wanted an additional $1300/year!!! I decided to just get liability to be legal. I don't understand how they can justify such an insane amount for the Guzzi. The only thing I worry about now is if it was stolen- I'd be out of luck.
  15. Hello! I'm just beginning to experiment with the compression and rebound damping of the suspension on my V11 sport. I thought it might be helpful to hear how other people have theirs set up according to your weight. I'm 200 lbs. and at first I softened the damping a bit from stock and it seemed to have gotten a bit twitchy. Now I've put both forks 5 clicks from the hardest setting and it seems okay, but I need to keep playing with it. How does everyone else have theirs set? Thanks!
  16. The manual for the 01 V11 Sport specifies 2.3 / 2.4 BAR front tire pressure for solo/two up riding. For the rear, it specifies 2.5 / 2.6 BAR. PSI being the standard for tire pressure measurement here in the States, I went ahead and converted the numbers: Riding solo: Front: 33 PSI front Rear: 36 PSI rear Two up: Front: 35 PSI front Rear: 38 PSI rear I couldn't find this information when I used the forum's search, so I thought I'd go ahead and post it.

    Bar ends

Okay, I got it to come off. I just needed to really give it some leverage. Thanks!

    Bar ends

How do you remove the bar ends on a V11 sport? The process described here doesn't seem to apply. Thanks!
  19. I've noticed on my '01 V11 Sport that the fuel light comes on at first kind of dull, and then progressively gets brighter as the tank gets emptier. Hmm... now that I think about it, maybe the sky was getting darker! Now I don't know! BTW, how many miles should we expect to get after the light comes on?
  20. Hi Callison, You mentioned that you don't have to replace the gasket when you remove the whole pan. After how many oil changes would you suggest that you do replace the gasket, if using this procedure. I have a brand new V11 sport and would like to do my own service as much as possible. Just got her last Wednesday! Thanks.
