  1. For all of you that broke the gearshift or the rear brake lever, here comes an option, Pete from reboot guzzi spares (www.rebootguzzispares.com) has manufactured the levers made of good alluminuim. I bought the gearshif lever from him, it's very tough and sturdy. Here are some pics.

They are not very "cheap", 110 euro each, but cheaper than the original part from moto guzzi and made of a better material.

forgot to add, 110 euro including shipping from france to ireland. The original part was 118 euro plus delivery from Agostini in Mandello.

  3. Sounds like a relay issue.

    Steve

Hi, tried to swap the relays as well but it didn't make any difference. On the other hand the misterium of the guzzi electrical system strikes again, after pushing the bulb in a bit, touching here and there everything is back working again. Tonti must have given a kick in the head"s" to my V11 from above.

  4. All I've done is change the switch on the brake lever on the handlebar, and now....... the front low light, and the back light, and the brake light, they are all gone. Checked the bulbs, they are ok, checked the fuses, they are ok. What the heck could it be?

    thanks guys

  5. Change it!

Easy fix. Left side above the starter.

ok, so nothing electrical/complicated involved, I just unscrew it out of the gearbox cover and change it? is that it?

could it just be that it needs to be "lubricated" or something similar?

  6. haven't checked the battery voltage, battery connections are tight, sure of that, the bike does not show any visible low battery problem, when it starts, it starts great, when it does not start, it's always been after rain or shower. I had a while ago the problem that the starter wire broke, the idiot in the garage where I brought the bike to be checked stripped the insulation to check which wire was not working, from the starter down to the connection below the tank, and then sealotaped the wires instead of putting a proper insulation. I think that's the problem.....

  7. Hey huys, a little update on my electric problems: yesterday was a very sunny, warm, dry day (what the f.... does this have to do with the electrics? I'm coming there in a min), well, the bike started with on problems, all the electrics are working ok. I start to think that somewhere there is a cable that is not well insulated and it goes bananas when gets soaked (this is my technical explanation), I now only have to find which one it is.

  8. Hi, our fairy tale started when one morning out of nowhere I turned the key to start the bike and nothing lighted up, bike wouldn't start. Fuses ok, swapped the relays, no change. The following evening the bike would start normally. Now, It happened again after a couple of weeks, so I changed the fuses with those provided by Dan Prunuske, but still the problem persists. I get the oil light up, the pump primes, no front light, and most scary of all, when I press the starter the rpm indicator goes up and the relay starts ticking like hell. According to Dan if you put 5 pin relays instead of 4 pin relays it should work cause one of the pins is not in use.

What the hell coulbe going on there? clutch or side stand or neutral switch? what else?

    Thanks guys

  9. Hi guys, I would like to grease the drive shaft myself cause i'm sick of having to go to the garage every time ( and btw I'm not sure they are doing it correctly anyway), so I read all the treads available, I think I got an idea about what I need to have and to do, but thereis one thing I did not find anywhere.

The shaft arm and the joints are covered with a mixture of dust and grease, should I clean them before greasing the nipples? if so, what product should I use?

    thanks.

  10. I won't make it on the day I'm afraid,as I'll be on holidays down under.

My God, 2 V11s in the same city! We could form a club!

well, maybe we are not enough for a club in Dublin, but we may be enough guzzisti for a national club

  11. Woops, never mind. this has already been done

Hi, do you want the original clip-ons? I installed Clip-on risers, so I have the original clip-ons and i could sell them to you for a reasonable price, contact me in private if interested. I would sell the pair, but I've got only one of the original bar-end weights.

    Best, Sergio.

  12. There's an argument that this should be in the dealers section, but up to now, we Irish haven't had a dealer, so it's not a section we normally frequent.

On The 10 March is the grand opening of Moto Guzzi Dublin. It's going to be run by the nice people at Ducati Dublin, on the long mile road. They were asked by Piaggio if they'd do a dedicated store for guzzi's, and Aprilias, and they agreed.

I can't help feeling that the new bikes are just so good they feel they can really compete with the mainstreamers, ie ducati and bmw, and the fact that guzzi are selling their bikes in Ireland for the first time since before Noah was a boy has got to be a good thing.

I was down there the other day, and they're still getting set up, but they had a few brevas, grisos and a norge, and 2 of the engineers are in Mandello as I speak, learning the ropes,(good luck!) so they'll be able to begin servicing in a few weeks.

If the service in general is as good as it has been with the ducati side of things then we're in luck, because I've only heard good things about them.

It's the first time I've seen some of those newer bikes in the flesh up close. That Griso is very cute, cooler then a ducati monster any day of the week. Even the norge looked good up close, but I think it'd have to be red. Or maybe black.

    Good times! :mg:

Hey, I thought I was one of the very few Moto Guzzi owner in Dublin, met a guy with a Cali EV and I know that a member of MAG Ireland has a Cali III, but I was pretty sure to be the only V11 owner in Dublin, good to know that I'm not alone. Why don't we meet saturday morning for the opening? I'll have to be of around lunch time cause my parents are coming over to ireland from Italy, but we can have alook at the shop and have a chat in the morning. I'll probably contact you in private for hints and tips re: garage, service, etc....

    Cheers.

  13. Thanks for the tips about Quat D. I will roll it around in my head for a while until I save enough money, unless a deal comes along I can't refuse. :D

I still think I like the Ghezzi-Brian one a bit more but I suppose the same effect is achieved. I'll look a bit harder but there seems to be some descripency among members as to the performance of the Quat D exhaust, some seem to say there is a loss in performace, while others adimently disagree. Time to do some research.

The Ghezzi and Brian ex-box is the Quat D.

  14. Search the forum using the words Quat D, who make the system- you will find a wealth of discussion and info!

    Guy :helmet:

If you type quat-d in the search engine you will find a couple of posts. The ex-box from quat D has pros and cons. Pros are that the bike is ready and stable at very low rpm, and the acceleration is very progressive, eliminating the hole at 4000rpm. Drawbacks are that it lays very close to the ground, you will have to be careful regarding bumps and ramps, especially with the pillion.

It requires some diy to be mounted, you have to add some washers otherwise it will not fit on the frame.

    Sound is E.V.I.L.

  15. Hi , I'm about to replace all the fairing due to some scratches, I got it paid by the ensurance, so it's worth to me to change it even if the scratches are not that deep. If you are interested I can sell you the old fairing for a very affordable price, I'm not interested in raising money on it, and then you can fix it and repaint it. Contact me in private if you are interested and I'm sure we can find an agreement.

    Sergio.

  16. I'd say all the suggestions you received are good, a little tip that I noticed makes the gearshift a lot smoother is adding Sintoflon gearlube to the oil, it really works. I have it on the california as well, and as soon as I change the final transmission oil I'm going to add it there as well.

  17. Hi guys, the pawl arm spring broke for the second time, after 5000km, I am not sure why but it could be that the asimmetric screw that controls the excursion of the pawl arm was set wrong, or some minor problems in shifting gears that I experienced may add on top of that. That could also be due to the fact that when I went to the garage last time to have the spring replaced I told the mechanic to check the boss of the pawl arm, and file it down to 15mm if it was bigger. Well, he filed it down to 14mm, cause it was 15. This time I decided to do it myself, and I also replaced the pawl arm with a new, right, one. After replacing the spring I experienced a big problem with shifting gears, especially when going from 3rd to 4th and down from 3rd to 2nd, so I took the gearbox cover out again and checked, everything looked ok to me, but the problem remained. To make a long story short, after opening the gearbox 2 more times I started playing around with the gearshift lever adjuster, it's called tie rod on the manual, and finally found the right adjustment where the gears now shift wonderfully. This is the first part of the story.

The second part regards the installation of the quat-d ex box. I had some troubles cause some diy is needed, some washers need to be added to make the correct distance, as already shown in this post best exhaust topic . I reported this problem to quat-d and I am waiting for an answer. I'll keep you updated.

Here are a couple of preview pictures, some work still has to be done, a good shower and replace the broken headguard, but that gives you an idea anyway.

First impressions are: motorbike is a lot more fluent and progressive at low RPM, really enjoyable, may not be the best for high preformances but in the daily traffic it really helps. With the original mufflers I was able to keep the engine at 2000rpm, but it wasn't too happy, now it's regular as a swiss clock. Sound is very metallic, with an evil touch, and quite loud. Very nice at low rpm, sounds very deep and round.
