  1. Yes it's different....

    Gustafson +5"

With SAeng winglet mounted on top + micro-swirl edging.

My excusse for modifications is an old neck injury. Pain would limit my ride without the extras. The combination works well for me, cause I'm a little different to... :mg:

could you post some pictures? clips on also look different....

  2. Yes it looks a little cramped. We seem to sit OK on the bike, my boot size is 43 and pillion's is size 37. "Feet sizes only".

It was sad to scratch the paintwork during the fitting as well given that it was baked on engine paint.

Pillion would not ride until I made it as good as our old 90S BMW. Pillion is happy now excepth for the odd thing on the back. OOPs :(

With the riders clip ons and reasets my toes point to the ground 45 to 50 degrees. The pillion's feet are near flat less than 10 degrees. The exhausts are Mistral oval carbon that are shorter than the stock carbon cans so the lead pipe to the can is longer, providing more air space between the foot peg and the exhaust can than stock item.

I have tried to attach a photo that shows the incongruity. 311k is too big sorry I need some help.

so, when are they ready to be bought?

  3. This should pretty well show it. The back mounts are on the rear fender- there's two holes on it.

There is a rubber washer on the back (tire) side of the lower front mount.

They are nice bags; I like them although they are too small. For instance, a six-pack won't fit in them without taking it apart. And ice water leaks through the seams :bier:

Hi, I have the same system on my Le Mans, and it fits perfectly, there should be pictures around in the forum, I'll make more detailed ones. Could it be due to the fact that yours is a 2000 V11 sport, slightly different frame from the later models?

by the way, this is the link to the topic where I posted some pictures

  4. Héy, nice boots!!! Are they only waterproof or really impermeable? How high are they?

    here are the specs:

    Waterproof Leather/1150 Denier Nylon Upper

    Waterproof/Breathable Sympatex Plus Bootie

    Aerospacer Mesh Collar Lining

    Flex Cuff

    Heavy Duty Casted Hardware

FPS Footbed with Dual Shock Pads and Antibacterial Treatment

    Polyurethane Midsole

    Composite Shank

Aggressive Slip-Resistant Outsole with Tire Tread Design

Available in Medium and Wide Widths

since there is the sympatex membrane, that is the same used for riding boots, i would say they are impermeable, up to the top. They are 8" tall.

  5. All the Moto Guzzi from the 80's had the cruise control by default, but recently it's become illegal in Italy, the argument of discussion was that the throttle is locked and the reaction to unlock it to stop whenever you need to is too slow. The v11 throttle is very soft and is not affecting my wrist and arm at all.

  6. I changed the lenses of the turning signals to my V11, with those of the Buell firebolt, the lenses have exactly the same shape of the Moto Guzzi ones, really they have to be the same make. The effect is great!

  7. I have a neighbor that wants to sell his 1983 california 2 , he is an older gentleman, and has had to stop riding. The bike is very nice cosmetically, has 65K miles on the clock, has new tires, everything works, and is completely stock, runs perfect and he has owned it since new. he wants me to help him sell it, but does not know what its worth. does anyone here have any idea what its worth.? :mg:

I don't know in the US, but in Italy it's worth 3000 to 4000 euro. 65000 miles is quite a lot though, you may easely do other 30000miles with mantenance only, if it has been treated nicely, but you may go through probles in the next 10000 miles if it has been mistreated. I have a '82 California, with 110000 KM, exactly 68000miles. It is still running well, but the compression of course is not as she was young, and I may redo the engine soon. I bought it with 50000miles, clutch and distribution chain just substituted. Other than that, I had to change the joint in the shaft, shock absorbers, and gaskets at the base of the cilinders, that's it. The shock absorbers are crap, see if it has the Koni, already, the forks are also crap, compared to a V11, but we are talking about 2o years ago. You will be amazed by the combined front-rear brake, not reallly and ABS, but almost.

  8. I am thinking about the soft case bag produced by Moto guzzi to be placed on the rear rack, instead of having the big hard case, does anybody have it, vould you suggest it or not? I only found few pictures on the internet and I don't have a dealer close by, so I would have to buy it blindly, would someone be so nice to post some pictures to help me make up my mind?

    Thanks a lot.

Since I'm here writing, I want to say that I recently put the tank condom on my V11, so to say, the tank cover from bagster, Ibought the red one which is just slightly different in color from the red V11, so it matches pretty well, and allows to use a wide range of bagster tank bags. I have the clip ons that Jean-Marc made and still I am able to use the "citadine" tank bag from bagster, which is what I really needed, since I am riding to work every morning. The bag has a nice and well protected space for a laptop up to 15" plus some other space for other stuff, and some little space for the daily grocery shopping. After this extensive and borign introduction I come to the point: I want to customize the tank cover, by applying patches on both sides, I have been thinking about using tha standard oval moto guzzi patch, but I am open to other more particular ones. I have been trying to contact mgcycle cause I saw a very nice one on their web site, but no luck, could you suggest some website where I could find some nice one?

    Thanks, Sergio.

  9. Hi all, had a great time at the rally and was great to put faces to different forum members. There must have been a representative of just about every V11 sub-species available at the event, certainly the most V11s I've seen in one place. Martin I did not realise the route I had set out to do was also the route to Rosslare or I would have ridden back with you for part of the way, see you next time. Martin's  description of us a the horsemen of the apocalypse was a great description, I was ridding at the back on the run back to the site and the noise rolling back from the buildings as we went through the villages and towns was spectacularI. 've got some photos from the saturday run.

Hi Gary, what kind of luggage system do you have on your acid green V11?

Is it an adapted GIVI one?

    Cheers Gary :bier:

  10. Home anodising is a low cost caustic business.  The image quality may not show it up as a smooth blemish free surface compared to the first pictures posted.

Good stuff! are you thinking of starting a production of those? If so, I'm in.

  11. Good day again to all V11 owners that like to have a passenger, I have been working on a home made modification to move the passenger pegs forward about 180mm and keep the original mount for the exhaust.

As this is my second post with an attachment I hope it is a success, old chaps.

I have a few more pictures showing the fitting on the SCURA, however, as a rider aged over 45 years of my IT skills are not as polished as my manners.

Hi, my question is, if you move the pilion pegs 180mm forward, do you still have space for your own feet? could you post a picture that shows the entire motorbike? if the solution is ok I would be interested in having a pair.

    Thanks, Sergio.

  12. On the Stenna  Fishguard - Rosslarne crossing onthe way out just left it to the deck hands, can't remember what they did. Couldn't have been worse than me dropping it doing the "s" turn across the deck when my kill button brushed the  tank bag  :homer:  :homer:  :homer:

On the way back on the fast cat a strap and sponge across the seat. Think I tied it down.

My only other experiance is Stena Harwich to Hook, which was the box of greasy ropes.

Usually there is no problem, they bind it tightly to the ground, just bring with you an old/used towel to cover the ssaddle, there is where the rope usually crosses the motorbike, just to protect the saddle. somtimes they also tie the motorbike to the side of the ship, in that case the best thing is to pot the bike with the side stand on the side of the wall, the rope will hold it from falling on the other side.

  13. How are you doing on sorting this this years crossing out?

    90608[/snapback]

Still from 9th to 11th of june? I suppose you are landing in Rosslare, where are you going then? I maybe able to come for a day trip.

  14. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably inexpensive (read cheap) hotel in or around the Dublin are of Ireland for early June? I need names, web site or whatever is available.

    Thanks

The words "cheap" and "Dublin" do not go along very well. There are not cheap hotels in Dublin.

How many rooms do you need? I would suggest a B&B, anyway. If you don't mind sharing a 6 bed room there are also some nice hostels. The Townhouse is OK, not too expensive and very close to the city centre. Are you coming by airplane, car, or motorbike? I live in Dublin, If you are in need of some on-site help, contact me in private. I do not live far from the city centre, and I could host your vehicle, if you need so, in a safe underground parking. And, it would be great to meet and have a pint together. Before I forget, hurry up, june is a very busy preiod of the year (turists), it may be very difficult to find accomodation.

    Cheers, Sergio.

  15. Try asking Ethiopia about that.

Being italian i consider myself called into the topic, I don't want to say that Mussolini was a saint, he was a tyrant and for sure he did bad things, but he was not as bad as the nazis for sure. I have been In Rode, one of the greek islands colonized by the italians in the second world war. The old people there have good memories of Mussolini's period, because he built roads, hospitals and infrastructures. This is what an old guy personally told me, speaking in italian. By the way, he was a bad guy, but we also have to consider that the invasion of ethiopia, which for sure was a wrong and questionable act, came on the wave of the colonialism that was already spread in the world since a good while, shall we talk about the colonies that England had? or Spain? or Portugal? or Netherlands? Didn't they invade those countries? I don't think that pointing the finger on one forgetting all the others is fair.

Let us not forget also what is gong on nowadays in Afghanistan and Iraq, the neo-colonization wave.
