  1. I've already got an e-mail back from Jim@ E. Beaver.. Were working on it. Mines like this>>
  2. About an hour and a half on the slab for you waspp..maybe a little more. There wont be no cops....really.....
  3. It's going to be more like 3 hrs for you Guzz... Looks like a good sled to do it on... unless ya want to camp out in my yard the night before....heck ..for that matter I might just scoot up and camp out up there the night before....who knows. Like I said it's a ways off.
  4. Every thing I see @ eastern beaver or searching this forum shows 3 pin connectors.. otherwise I'd be ordering one from EB... They must have a set up for the 4 pin..what I have.. I'll send an e-mail and give a phone call...Spring is almost HERE!! Thanks to all......
  5. We're working up plans for a monthly(?) breakfast and ride figuring north and west of Worcester Ma. would be a good central location (an hour for me) for a quick b'fast with great roads heading north and west. Just a heads up ..it wont come together before May. Any input?
  6. While waiting (in 50deg temps!!) for my forks I'm moving on to by passing the headlight switch gear with the "relay" set up. I've got the nice color drawing (though my wires are Y/Brn/Grn-gry/BL) my real concern is ...Do I just cut the existing wires "above" the connector and put solder joints and spade connectors on everywhere ...or below the connector or is there a way to utilize the connectors? Just looking for consensus and possible hidden disasters.. Speaking of hidden disasters ...the philips screws holding my alt. cover on had to be locktited in...I snapped the last head off with the impact driver. After a day of vise gripping, drinking, swearing and playing my guitar to her I finally resorted to an 1100deg heat gun...in lieu of the propane torch. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!
  7. Aaaaaaa 5th grade.....best 3 yrs. of my life. Thats when my "poetic license " got "revoked"
  8. Sounds good Tom. Find us a breakfast joint a little N. and E. of Wost. We'll get some tentative dates, see who we can round up and do a 200 mi blast out of there...could be a short blast around the Quabin or a run up 116/100 or a hundred other great rides. I don't mean to be putting it all on your shoulders .. just if your up around that area on an early spring ride keep an eye open for a place we can congregate, throw some coffee down our throat and saddle up by 10:00. I bet we can get quite a few riders. I could easily end up bringing 6-8 (non Guzzi..Beemer pals) (geeze I'm gettin' all excited) I'd want to set a lunch destination and a route and break up into smaller groups if it works out that way. Keeps the stupidity down to a minimum. Traffic lights, intersections, passing et al. Unless there's less than 10 of us. Just thinkin' out loud. (I'd just print up some maps to pass out) I could be there by 8 or 9 easy. Whd'ya think? We'll get a seperate thread going once we get dialed in a little.
  9. Rarer than hens teeth. I've seen maybe 3 on the road in the last 2 years. There's a lot more N.E. guys on the wild Guzzi forum. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php We ought to get a monthly something going this season. I'm thinking north of Worcester is a central location. About an hour for me and some decent roads north and west.
  10. That was a possessive S I know detective Perot......... And if you didn't already have a perfect avitar.....
  11. I shoulda caught this earlier... No...I wouldn't use heat. Who knows what little rubber guys live in there. Probably none but just as a general rule. Same as arc welding...then realizing you've blown an ECU or Anti Lock Brake sys.. Like Ewen McGreggor... (It's so funny when someone else does it.)
  12. Yea... I managed to find that PDF over @ Marzocchi too...definately a different animal. I considered the "float" concept too. Good fun while waiting out the last of the winter. Thanks a lot for contributing. After the forks are completed we should have a fairly good reference for sprucing up the 40mm Mazocchis. Just saw ratch...er .. Hercules' post... If he comes up with the drawings it will be great!
  13. Curiouser and curiouser.. I've got them on the bench and can't see how the brass adj. screw affects .......anything. The 22mm to the Adj. nut corresponds to the 22mm of "throw" of the threaded "neck" of the cap....thus mating the BAS (brass adj. screw) to the top of the center rod..... It would appear, and I took for granted from the get go, that as you turned the BAS in it would derpress the center rod ... opening/ closing a port. Just to satisfy my assumptions I grabbed my trusty side cutters and tried to depress the rod. I got nuttin' .. I was expecting only 1/8 inch or so but could detect nothing. Next I tried varied leak down tests on the cap itself while I adjusted the BAS (don't ask) I still got nothing. Maybe the BAS gets an imperceptible "throw" on the rod. Lastly..the blue lock/ adj. nut has no more than 1/2 inch of thread below it so you wouldn't get much pre-load out of that and if it was higher the BAS wouldn't seat to the rod. I also played with the BAS while the forks were still together and the effect was easily detectable...so..they do sumptin' ...I still don't know how though..
  14. Well this will be fun. I'll do a few experiments to compare the new set up on one fork with the stock set up on the other fork....that should add to the confusion
  15. one did wonder that. All the pertinent info was delivered with my order. I'm thinking/ hoping there's some instructional documentation comes along with the springs. All will be revealed during sag adj. One way or the other I'm expecting a big improvement.
  16. Right...according to my manual they're 40x...pleasant dreams.. I don't know how I got on the 43 mentality ...musta been during the years of shopping I did....and it stuck. Duc parts give me more confidence for sure Ratch.. Wish Duc mounted that alt. cover too... Dan ..Hmm... I'm 210lbs. You added nearly an inch @ 180lbs..!! yikes.. did you get that with the jamb nut or a spacer? Gonna be fun compressin' the spring that far..don't like losing that much travel either.
  17. Ahh...back from being sick... Firstly ..The fork caps just needed a bit more force. Done deal...just waiting for the new springs. So feeling frisky I decided to attack my ugly Alt. cover and have a peek inside while the forks and fairing wuz outta the way. I had to resort to an impact driver on those nasty philips screws. Had to use it till they were 3/4 the way out and even snapped the head off one.!!! Which really sucks. (see why I'm timid with the BIG hammer?) When I got inside I got a little surprise...is this normal...whats going on after dark over there in EEtaly.....fratrenizing with the enemy? Ducati?
  18. Yea....Reservoir Manicouagan ...I was checking that out. First thing that came to mind was "meteor hole" Incredible lakes, rivers and wilderness just a couple days ride... Yea..I got a new camera, you can expect a photo essay. Gonna be a great summer!!!
  19. You got it ratchet... from Todd @ Guzzi Tech "Put a wrench on the blue annodized pre-load adjuster, and one on the outside/top of the cap. The set screw does not need to be removed. Be sure to measure the distance from the top of the threaded rod (once the cap is removed) so that you can reset the blue preloader to the existing position. Make sense?" Fine by me...just didn't want to get too frisky...and that little hole IS threaded. I'd be out there with the bigger hammer right now but I was taken off my feet today by an intestinal virus.............errrerrrrrrrrrrrr... back to bed.. Thanks all.
  20. Not only are the spacers on top...they're made of plastic! I should have the manual ...but I don't.....just the fiche...which has the 40s I also thought I'd find the quintisential information here. Oh well..the next guy will have somethin'. I've done more than a handful of fork jobs. They're usually a pain in the butt anyway..especially the Showas on my Duc. I'm havin' fun...my Wilburs won't be in for a month and neither will the New England thaw. Thanks for all the support
  21. It's threaded all the way through and an allen snugs right in.. Just about breaking the little wrench...nuttin' Time to kick back again...see if someone that's been there comes around .. I appreciate your moral support RH.. thanks
  22. Luckily I kicked back before reaching for the bigger hammer and investigated what I initially took for a vent... there's a set screw in there! Thats fighting me too.. Gonna be tough hammering on that little thing. I searched for a thread on doing this..the 43mm's anyway.. Maybe I'm creating it.
  23. I got a new set of springs comming from Guzzi Tech (thanks Todd) Ok..... I'm down to the last of the disassembly... Just wondering if I have the right idea...hold the blue nut and spin the cap off? ...Thought I'd check before I go to the REALLY big hammer. (arrrgh she's a tight one!) Also...5wt. Suspension fluid 100mm from the top..forks compressed? 3rdly... trying to get the philips screws out of the altenator cover.. Wow...looks like I'll have to impact them. What a pain...especially with that useless bracket hangin' down.
  24. Reflexes... My front tire gets lose...I'm on the throttle! But thats pure reflex (zero time thinking) from years of uber aggressive racing in the dirt and on the ice. It has saved me 2 maybe 3 times on the road. The only reason I'm chiming in here is to make the case..."If you want to ride aggressively on the road...get yourself a cheap, nasty little dirt bike and learn to steer with your ass." "When in doubt...wring it out" You can pick up old MXers for $500...the uglier the better (cheaper)..Go out and scare the sh!t out of yourself. You'll have a friggin' ball and you'll develop reflexes that you'll never pick up on the road without seriously endangering yourself. Get your best stupid friend to do it too. I promise you the time of your life. ..er...you have insurance right? There's not much you can do with sand or oil or anything that turns the pavement to snot...but once the front tire goes...ya gotta steer with what ya got left... Carl ...yea.. stopping and waiting...or going back...looking for someone .. after a couple of miles of gettin' frisky out in front gives you a pretty queezy feeling. Luckily it's always been someone forgot their sunglasses or something stupid but it does make you think. Especially if it's someone that you don't know that well. You don't know their skill level...and neither do they. Our goffin' around pace is many others "white knuckle" pace. Have fun!
