  1. Got out of an 8 yr. bad deal last year. Looking forward to this summer. Got another angel lined up. One that rides the wheels off a KZ1000
  2. She was in fact standing on the side of the road. 138 in RI heading out of Hope Valley. I gave a whoop @ her...she waved so I went back for a pic.
  3. I walked up to her and said.. "Hey babe...nice pajamas. Can I get a picture...?" Tell the missus' she REALLY doesn't want to see me in that outfit!!! (The mind boggles)

    The Pace

"Now this is just me, but if potential V-11 Guzzi owners are NOT comfortable with riding this way, a V-11 Guzzi is NOT a good choice and they will not be happy." Geez RH, I completely disagree. I really think a Guzzi would teach even a squid to learn the sweet spot. Then again squids travel in schools. He might have to make some new friends to keep his Guzzi. We did a little bike swapping yesterday. Katfish -R1150R Denusha -Kaw Z1000 They loved the LeMans. Every stop they were commenting on how great it sounded and looked. I finally quipped "If ya think thats cool, ya oughtta ride it." They didn't skip a beat. " Wanna try my Beemer? Wanna try the Kaw?" I thought "not really" but said "Sure". At the end of the day they were asking about prices and dealers and Ebay. They were truly smitten. After riding the electric mixer and the old farts bike I can see why. (May the higher being indulge my pride)
  5. Throttle body balance is my guess too.
  6. Clutch wire/ bullet plug under tank...left side. (purple?) Kickstand switch. Bad kill switch Relay socket itself. No particular order. Good luck Let us know.
  7. Looks like it's the 19th...either my mistake or they changed it. SATURDAY May 19th Breakfast at the Vanilla Bean 8:30 AM info Tom Halchuk 508-612-9509 Coming up is Charter Oak Rally Ct. River BMW Riders May 25-28 Lots of Beemers a few Guzzis. ..Vintage Beemers...band..food http://www.crvbmw.org/ Yankee Beemers Pemi River Rally. I never miss this one. Great ride up 202 out of Belchertown. Really fun event..band food and fantastic roads everywhere. 6/15-17 There's a handful of Guzzis and oddities for that one. http://www.yankeebeemers.org/pemiriver/announce.htm Then ya got Dam Yankees / Heath Rally Again this is YB and I feel like I'm promoting them way too much but this is where I go so it's all I know. Hey...it's a great time and the Heath Rally is in conjunction with Tom Halchuck Prez. MA.MGNOC Lots of Guzzis .. a great time and great roads. http://www.yankeebeemers.org/damnyankee/YBrally.htm I know I've posted these before but these are great rallies and I didn't see any of you @ Frosty Nutzz this w/e so I thought I'd give you another poke. Frosty Nutzz was awesome... 50 riders or so Great weather, good friends, fantastic roads winding through Vermont. A post card picture around every corner. 3 Guzzis. A Dead Horse, a Duff and my LeMans. (Love digging in the spurs up those switch backs) I know I started this thread to get some 20 of us together from Albany to Maine for breakfast or more likely lunch but I had forgot about the yard, the roof, the boat the huge cherry tree now lying in the yard. The season has just started. Keep the faith and meanwhile maybe try to make one of these great rallies. And shame on you if you even miss the Guzzi rallie in Monson Ma. in Sept. I've got a few other trips and meetings to make (Va., Quebec, IMOC in Sturbridge) and there's a couple dozen striped bass out there thats gonna end up on my grill.
  8. It's mostly about "elbow grease" and something mildly abrasive. Keep up with it and it wont get out of hand. Go "around"... not back and forth...2 beer job.
  9. Had my new tire shipped to my friends house...75mi away...because he has a tire changer. I didn't get up there right away, put on a few hundred miles around town...then a few more...ooooops!! Now I just gotta figure out how the machine works. ..
  10. On close examination I believe this is my problem rather than lube. (it gets spooged every 5K or so with a proper cable oiler / white lithium/ top down) So far I believe my lubrication has mostly served as cutting oil. I will also move throttle cable inspection up to "check oil, tire pressure" status. (every ride) Checking mostly for abrasive road grit. It gets pretty nasty down there. I've considered sealing it in a gob of silicone....( I know, that will trap the grit IN). We'll see if I can get more than 15K out of this one.
  11. 30K and I'm on my 3rd. They seem to be self distructing, chafing on the sheath end. I keep 'em lubed... I've played with the bracket and orientation. Maybe I'll get 20 out of this one. Anyone else eating cables?
  12. I can't see where 10mm one way or the other is going to make an appreciable difference under normal or even extreme road use. Ice racing we'd drop/raise the triple inches with very detectable effect on traction. ie; front end pushing out in the turn...drop the T clamps..way down./ rear tire skating/ too loose ...raise the front/ put weight on the rear. This is normal practice day/ practice lap R&D depending on ice conditions. ( Along with screw pattern, tire pressure, cocktail selection etc.) I think cutting very hard lap times on a track, a 10mm fork height adj. might be appreciated by a very good racer. Not me. 30-40mm I might notice..if I'm paying particular attention to it trying to cut a nano second off my lap time. I run mine 10mm above...musta read it somewhere.. Screw this..it's gonna be 50 today...I'm outta here!!
  13. Voted #3 myself...and such is my intention. Put off painting it this year...hate that soft beige paint. @ 30K mi + - I'm still waiting to see if my confidence factor comes up to where it needs to be to keep the bike. Bearings, electrics, tranny bits, self unscrewing oil filters...not a good thing to contemplate while packing for multi thousand mile trips where the objective is to get as far away from civilization as possible. It was pretty painful to go from wrenching my '94 Ducati to my '02 Guzzi and back again while I still had the Duc. Not a rusty nut or bolt on it..let alone the frame or mounting brackets...while the new Guzzi has square inches of paint just flaking off.. WTF? .. Good thing I just love that friggin' motor...and the big fat old guy handling. So...I'll keep after it...improve as I go. This ain't a club for wimps.
  14. God..I live my life mortified I might do (have done) these type things. Nog..I'm sure you could design some door frame sliders.
  15. Just 3 words..... Ohlins Ohlins Ohlins
  16. Apologies to everyone. I've been fairly remiss keeping up with my own convoluted plan. Winter maint. and a few bouts with colds and flu. I intend to be @ the Yankee Beemers Spring Muster http://www.yankeebeemers.org/YBcalendar.htm Hamilton Rod and Gun Club, Sturbridge Ma April 14-1 http://www.hamiltonrg.org/ They're a fairly motley crew who have some perverted curiosity and affection for Guzzis. If I don't catch you there I'll see ya when we get the original ride/ get togeather...in Putney Vt..?
  17. I was thinkin' that pic didn't help....but...you can see the little flanges are on top. (barely) So the question is .....IF Nuevos' are upside down..how'd they get that way?
  18. No you di'nt... you di'nt go there... Nuevo... You should be able to tell. The nuts have a big counter bore on one side. That side goes down, allowing the nut to spin on further ... I hope that does it for you. But if this is the case it would explain why turning your adjusters had no effect. Just went through my pics but don't have one that shows anything relative.
  19. Right on both counts.. The blue nuts are probably upside down... The forks feel much better .....

    Paint Flake?

Surrender........ Just go around the whole bike with a ball peen hammer, paint scraper and break fluid.
  21. Yes Nuevototem....listen to inspector hatchetrack.... Those blue nuts have to be exactly 22mm down from the top of the threaded rod for your Reb./ Comp. adjusters to work properly. Oops...you snuck in there. YES...I did see your rod is not threaded as far as mine.. Hmmmm...? Inspector? I'm still in the process of dialing in my forks with the new springs... well...thinking about it anyway...been stealing rides when I should be finishing up the susp. tuning....Hey...It's spring! Actually from my 150 mi ride yesterday I found the ol' "counter intuitive" gremlin. Thinking the front was still a bit harsh I was reluctant to turn the adjusters in thinking It would make the front harsher. But it was a quick thing to do so I set 'em @ the all purpose setting of 9 clicks out on comp. and 12 out on reb. Though I wasn't thinking about it much because I was squirrel riding with my Monster buddy the feel was much better. Not cushy or plush but tight skipping over frost heaves that were previously bone jarring. The suspension was working stiff and fast but it wasn't being transmitted to the chassi /bars and seat. Probably stiffening the front made the back take on more of the work. Like I said it's the ol' "counter intuitive" thing...again. I need to go out alone and feel it again. Still need a spacer too to get sag right. I'm smiling so far.... I once test rode an Ohlins LeMans. Went with a factory rep. alone around the farm lands of the Ct. River Valley. I don't know what the deal was (last ride of his long day?) but we touched 110mph.!!?? I was thinkin ...."cool" Any way I was amazed at how comfortable I was on this "other" bike...it just fit me and I was totally confident. I never ride other peoples bikes because they feel "strange". Anyway ...upon return he smiles and says.."How'd you like the Ohlins" A fog cleared and I saw me doing those speeds on those gnarly roads ..a grin and a "wow" was all I could muster. I do believe I'm headed in that direction with my new set up. yayyyyyyyy.
  22. Thats it! We got to get a subway here in Mystic. I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body! I have a new girl friend though... She has a tattoo of a sea shell on her inner thigh. If you put your ear next to it you can smell the ocean.
  23. I love that question. Does a spacer shorten travel? I've got to add 25mm to my spacer to achieve perfection. Stiffen the back too....tub o' lard that I am. I did 100 mi on it. Felt nice and behaved in the 80mph sweepers and a little less "klunky" over the frost heaves but I believe I can improve on it thanks to everyones input. ps: You have to have the pumps in to fill the legs... otherwise the fork juice would just pour out the bottom....thru the bolt hole...that holds your pump in.
  24. ?? What problem ?? Haven't seen a "cracked header" thread. Though on having just done my spring cleaning I was wondering about strange strirations on my pipes. ANY WAY......Just wanted to say$300 for a set of stailess steel headers is.... WOW! Wish I could find some for my SP !!!
