  1. I've recently seen that new Dirt track thingy. It looked nice. But I'd never, and I mean never, consider it.

    Yea...thats cute.

HD totally dropped the ball when they didn't go with a production XR like Jay and Bubba

were running back in the day. If they brought that on line and paid engineers to keep up with the Nippon models instead of graphic designers, I'd be riding one today. (maybe)

I got a buddy that can jump his road king through a hoop too.

    yea...he gets all the girls......

  2. !! ?? Yea??? Geeze ..I feel better.

I thought I might have gone over the top posting that picture.

I wasn't to pleased to see such a thing when a friend sent me that series.

Gruesome. But a good remedy to antler scraping.

Lord knows I do my share. Luckily I've lived long enough that in the bitter life long

battle between testosterone and brain cells the latter is gaining a slight edge.

    :oldgit:

  3. Hmmm...

I don't look @ chrome on other bikes.

I look @ the chicken strips on the tires.

I don't care how someone accelerates from a stop.

I watch how they set up corners.

When my bike is totally filthy from a day, days or a week or 2

on the road...I kinda like it.

A woman on the back of a V-Rod isn't dipping much into

that huge torque but is sacking out the suspension causing

extreme shrinkage of the otherwise huge penis of a chrome polisher.

Anyone can polish chrome or or twist a throttle.

A CBR 600 can run rings around both these bikes and in

the right hands (on anything but a drag strip) even a Hyabusa.

But there's a time and place for everything.

    Dont forget your doo rag.

  4. For the few seconds before the con rods snap like rotten carrots!

    Pete

Ha! Yea but for that one shining moment .....!

Every time I look @ the Guzzi dyno charts I end up on e-bay looking @ Ducatis

Then I remember I don't like riding around above 4000 rpms all the time.

The little blue and red squiggly lines are antithetical to all things Guzzi to me.

Once I got the LeMans rolling there ain't too many people going by me if I don't want 'em to.

Thing is.. I couldn't care less if someone goes by me. I'd either think "nice move" or "friggin' jerk"

depending on the situation. In fact I love to see one of my friends slide around me having a ball.

It's all such great and wonderous fun but a lot of people are missing the joy of grabbing a handful of Guzzi on an impossible mountain switch back from 2500rpms..(ooops I shoulda down shifted!......aww..who cares)

My point? Work the ping problem out and forget about tweaking the nth HP out of the fat pig.

You wanna go really really really fast? Faster than people with 30 more HP than you?

Work on your skills, keep your tires fresh and tune your suspension.

Oh yea...run world specs on your valves. She'll love you, love you long time.

(Can you tell it's a cold rainy day in Ct.?)

  5. I'm totally with Windchill.

I went with the 170 on back but was worried it would

take away from the big "set up the corner R E A L early" feeling I've grown to love.

It did make it better in the tight twisties without giving up the Locomotive, all giddy,

gigilly fun of the big bear.

I'm a better rider because of the way the Guzzi handles...better for the real world.

The 3 years before the Guzzi I was on a Duc. SS...Loved it.

Love the Goose more. Just a lot more smiles per hour.

I'm verticly challenged and tend to really crowd the tank..chest over the gas cap and steer with my ass and back tire...that probably helps. Still need to tune my new Wiburs fore and aft but it's behaving fairly well. I would like it to be more supple though. 38K mi and it just keeps getting better. Managed to get 150 mi on this week end in New England. NOT bad for Feb.

    6 weeks n' it's over.......yipeeee....

    :bier:

  6. I've always enjoyed late evening blasts around the back roads.

Especially in the depth of summer when the air is soft and sultry and

summer caresses you in her bosom. The later the better. On coming cars are

detected by headlights up in the trees on good corners. It's like

    having radar.

    Screw February.

  7. It's amazing some insist they have a "right" to use this

forum as a personal pissing contest arena and that an e-mail or

posting could 'so' rattle your cage.

Why don't you go down to your local Guzzi dealers and strike up arguments

about politics and religion with the regular customers and staff.

I'm sure they and the owners will appreciate it as much as Japp

and the rest of us here do.

    See the thing?

(really...your penis is huge :o ...now put it away) :bier:

  8. Once in 15 yrs? Man..your no fun.

I haven't dropped the LeMans yet but I'm sure I will someday.

The SP went down 3 times one year. All parking lot / kickstand related.

I started calling it "the Turtle" because it was always on it's back.

On one big trip everyone in my group of six dropped their bike at least once.

Never seen any of them drop their bike before or since in 35+ years.

Broken kickstand, sand/oil under a foot, wet grass. It was like a plague.

You got a lot of catching up to do.

  9. Yet another Christmas miricle.

I didn't go far or fast but far enough to service the

battery, injectors and get some Castrol on where there

    was previously only condensation.

My condolenzes to my land locked bretheren.

  10. Jackboot...yea...he's a sly old dog and he'll gladly take you down the middle

of a stream where only he knows the shallow parts.. I think. He's got an evil twinkle in his

eye. I'd be real careful zapping corners with him. Trail or paved.

    Tom..yea..there we're a few Montesas..of course.

I don't know the specifics but I do remember @#$$#! Burleson form Wayyy back...but I'm only a hundred years old.

Hope you all go out and say howdy. He'd love it.

  11. 3rd vote for ping. Especially if your not familiar with it.

Sounds like nuts and bolts in your top end under hard exceleration. Loud.

I suggest you go to World or Raceco specs on the valves too if you haven't.

(search on valve adj. on this forum. It's all there)

With the very low miles I suspect you still have factory specs.

It will start easier and ping less. If your not familiar with working on a bike this

is an excellent time to start.

A new Guzzi is like a new born baby. It needs to be bottle fed for the first

5 or 10Kmi...then it grows up big and strong.

    Good luck

  12. If you live in New England or take a trip here be sure to stop by and visit

our new buddy Jim Hoellerich in Cheshire Ma.In 1973 Jim was a front running ISDTer

and ran the only ISDT ever in N. America (wait till you see the "checkers)

9 of us went up and drooled on his 100 plus vintage racers in absolute new condition.

Afterward Jim invited us up to his deck overlooking his 400 acre farm, served us a couple of rounds of beer and argued with us to make burgers rather than go someplace to eat.

We won the argument so Jim came with us. We were in our usual boogie mode of + 20mph the speed limit and the 70 something JH split us like the Red Sea to show us a short cut to our secret hide away, We had one of the best lunches and day of the year and when we were done we rounded up to exit the parking lot onto the road as Jim pulled a wheelie up through the middle of the woods for his 20 mile ride home.

At one point during lunch a Jim told the story of his Alaska trip 3 yrs. previous..he was 70 something then...his guide was in his 80s !! and told Jim he didn't need a map because he'd done the trip 7 times. !!! Johnny C. chimed in "I guess we've got a few years of riding left in us"

Jim turned to me and asked "How long do I have?" I said "I dunno. What time is it?"

After telling Jim about our exploits to Canada and as far west as the Mississippi he says he's hangin' with us from now on. Stop up and see him. Friggin' great guy. Loved the LeMans,

knew I must be a nut.

Now... I hope I can load some pics. Jims got the gotee thats grayer than mine.

  13. I just went with the 170 0n my LeMans after 37K mi.

Mmm..I like it ok. It does handle a bit quicker / better. The proof in

the pudding will be mileage. If it lasts as long as a 180 I'll definately

    stick with the 170. :2c:
