  1. Yea...just sitting here thinking about it I'm happy.

When I've got it twisted over in an 80mph sweeper and feel like I could

reach in my tank bag and fish out my other sun glasses and put 'em on @ the same time I'm ecstatic. I'm all excited about my friends R1200R BMW Monster but my LeMans is more me.

37000mi of punishment and ready for more.

  2. Re: Range.

Up on the slab at 80mph @ 43k RPM or so I can almost count on 200 mi.

Around town if my light comes on below 150 Mi I must have been really been

    hammering it.

02 Lemans 37000 mi, PC III, Stucchi, Mistrals.

She's really losening up. Just gettin' better n better.

  3. I just had a thousand mile trip cut a little short by

the pesky charging light gremlin. Sat. was rainy and my light came on

after 50 mi. I watched it for another 50..sometimes blinking...before

I informed the group and disconnected my headlight. The gremlin persisted

for another 15 mi then went out for the next 50. I decided to cut the week end short after

watching Bert shell out nearly $500 for a throttle cable fix for his RT.

    (Not field seviceable!!?? U-Haul /Shop)

Of course I didn't see the light again on my 300mi trip home with the headlight

    connected. :mg:

    A little history:

I've put over 30K mi on since I got her and every time I start up and roll out

I've had a charging light for the first mile or 3. then OK for the whole day. N.O.P.

This is the first time I've seen it while under way. I've tried to hunt the gremlin down every time

I've had the tank off. (A dozen?) I'm just wondering if any of youz guys might have been there /

done that before I go off into the wilderness of the wiring harness. ...again.

Does the R/R sometimes "go" slowly? (over 30K mi?)

Was she just jelous because I kept drooling over my friends new R1200R?

(110 HP 425lb camping Monster) Well I'm really drooling now....cept for the throttle cable. :D

I'm not inclined to blame the rain. The idiot light was out during the worst of it.

I hate electrical problems and really hate intermittent electrical problems.

    Meanwhile.....GOoooo Red Sox!!

    :mg: Victim

  5. WOW...this again.

    Somethings wrong somewhere.

My last bike was a 94 900SS and my LeMans (with a 180 on back)

feels better than that did...and the Duc felt

real good. Looking forward to hearing a difinative

    solution.

I'm short and 200lbs ..maybe thats a clue.

I'm nestled tight to the tank when I ride.

The LeMans has a longer WB too I think.

I hate tank slappers. Went over the bars once.

Had nightmares for months. A horrible way to get off.

    Good luck getting it sorted.

Give the bearings a good look but I bet

    it needs suspension set up.

  8. How do I miss you guys at IMOC.

Maybe we'll hook up @ NEMG on the 28th

    Meanwhile......

I tell everyone a new MG comes as a kit bike.

It comes assembled just so you know what goes where.

Then you take it apart and put it back together and ride

it for a couple hundred thousand miles.

I couldn't abide taking a bike to the shop.

Too costly- too slow- too stressful.

36K mi and just getting better

Hope things turn around for you Cycdude

Hang in there and hang on this board.

You will be very happy in the looooong run.

  9. Fear ye not. 35Kmi ...Totally expecting to go the next 150K with very few issues.

One eaten RW bearing...my fault..over torqued.

I haven't heard of any dealer/ service manager with a CLUE re Guzzi.

This is the place to service your bike.

Yea ya gotta check fasteners on any bike. Less on a 4 cyl. egg beater

more on a 2 cyl, push rod, big bore.

You can go buy a new Fender Stratocaster for $1000 bucks but in a little while

ya gotta tighten the strings back up a little. Especially if your bangin' the crap out of it

and bending the strings up 3 notes.

    Have fun!

  10. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I think it's TBs out of sync...even if you did do them already..

There was a particularly good method posted here somewhere ...

not as good as mine but good. Starting with TPS.

You guys will be discussing the gravitational pull of Uranus pretty soon.

(Though the gravitational pull of Myanus may be quite substantial.)

  11. I invariably shut the Goose off with the kick stand.!!!

    Come in for a landing.....shook...kickstand down...bike off...key in pocket.

    Living dangerously ain't I ??

nyut nyut nyut....wooo wooo woooo woo

I ain't takin' no crap from no eyetalian hunka tin......

  12. Just a quick summation so as not to bore you.

Left here in blazing heat 10 a.m Fri 7-28

Picked up 4 Weirdos in Longmeadow Ma. and headed north of

Pittsburg NH. 250 mi @ 80mph pretty much.

Stopped for gas with 192 mi on the trip meter...yayyyyyyyyyyyy! A record.

Crossed into Canada Sat.AM...(absolute breeze through customs both ways)beat feet to Quebec City....shlogged up the N. side

of the sea way for an hour before things started to thin out.

The next few days were up to and around Baie Comeau..had to wait an extra day

for the ferry to Mantane on the Gaspe Peninsula.

Did a figure 8 through the Chic Choc Mts. and up and down each coast of Gaspe.

Finally back down some great rds. through New Brunswick into Fort Kent / Caribou Me.

And lastly to the Yankee Beemers Heath rally where they go out of their way to make

the lost tribe of Guzzi welcome.

All in all another epic trip. I could go on and on about the great roads, Fjords, whales

Mosse'es, food, people, spectacular scenery, abuse of the roads and language,

The best part though was the relentless throb of the Guzzi. After worrying about what I might

not have addressed since last winter the bike was happy as a puppy doing a perpetual 80

on the highways or beatting on it through the Chic Choc Mt. Rds.

Only five of us went. 3 others had health or other conflicts.

Too bad. Next year hopefully it's gonna be mini motor homes, big trailers and the Rocky Mts.

I never want to do big slab runs in 96 deg heat again.

May as well stay home and shingle the roof.

Did some 80mph one hand camera clicking sweepers.....

    Hard time loading pics....

    Another try......

Still on orig. shift spring. (spare in the tank bag)

Changed relays to GEI early on.

Sachs went south ...nursed it for a while till I got a Wilbers & fork springs.....mmmmm Do it.

Just fixed the kick stand loopy thing.

Blew off TB boot a couple of times.

Set the TBs by ear 25K ago...running spot on.

    40mpg+ Valves @ world specs

    Heading for Newfoundland Friday a.m.

Moose, bears and wide smooth roads with no mounties....

    Yahoooooooooeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

    :race::race::race::mg:

  14. I bought my V11 ( and my other Guzzi..s ....)without test drive, no reading comparison tests, no talks about

if it is good or bad, just by looking at them and feeling the magic of the bike and admiring this small company

which gives for so long bikes that touch your senses.

In real world (not track days, competition etc) THE GUZZI goes and turns fast enough for me, and the pleasure it gives me, moving or standing , is so .....much

Buell .......146HP...what to say???Looks that a marketing wizard wants to fight with Ducati & the Japs

So Buell welcome to the world of HP!!!!!!!!, and special bikes , where every six months there is a new bike stronger, faster, and better but watch out, the others are not sleeping, even GUZZI with MGS-01 WINS RACES

I" ll be with my GUZZI in ten years time , when the 146 hp buells will have left this world for their metallic graveyard.

    Brilliant. Couldn't agree more.

I love that Eric is putting this thing togeather. I'm buying one. As soon as the national

speed limit is raised to 150mph and all police are given the week ends off.

Meanwhile I'm fighting my primal urges all day long on my Guzzi...as best I can.

Just in case I win the lottery...

Does anyone have any experience or opinion on what a Rotax like that is like to work

    on? Specifically valve adj.? Reliability?

Maybe when they come out with the old guys version.

  15. I'm with ya ratch. Pulled the front wheel and they're as smooth as a baby's bumm.

Just gettin' antsy leavin' for Newfoundland a week from this Fri.

I suppose if I get stuck up there in the nether regions of Quebec I'll just have

to find a mademoiselle to put me up 'till the Fed-Ex truck arrives. :P

  16. Changing my front tire w/ 31K mi and was thinking better "check" the bearings..

maybe better just replace 'em huh?

Easy enough job, just hate to pay $$$ for them when I just need

to go down to the bearing shop and look the guy in the eye and lie..

" uh......there for the winch @ the boat yard" and get 'em for $8.00 ea.

  17. I'm gettin' dizzy ......

I was out tonight on the favorite roads and thought about this thread.

Tried to make the Guzzi feel "nervous" and actually found I could by putting

too much input into the bars. I steer with my arse more than counter steer.

Been riding bikes with clipons over 20 yrs. I'm just tossing out that it might just

be technique rather than some of our mechanical suggestions. I guess that goes with the lose

    arms, light touch philosophy.

Ahh... another thought. Blown rear shock. Yes. When my Sachs blew the front tire felt like it

was trying to skitter out from under me. Have you given the rear the old bounce test Cat?

    ( should come up slow)

Any way...I'm thiknin' 'bout ya when I'm out there. (boy am I out there)

  18. If I were to buy Solo's Scura would anyone be willing to ride it from New Hampshire to LA for me?

    Pete

Aaaa...the summer of my discontent. First I had to turn down crewing on a Fairhaven

to Bermuda race now this. If for no other than it can be shipped for a fraction of the price

of someone riding it / hotels/ airfare/ fuel. I've seen trans continental bike shipping a lot for

    a mere $500. I can't find that specific outfit (saw 'em a lot over @ "biketrader.com"

but here's a link to an outfit I found quick. It looks like there's even a green V11 sport on

    a pallet in their advertising!

I remember when Honda came out with the CR 500 and the incredible 12 way

adjustable rear shock. There were some spectacular "get offs". :P
