  1. It is a good clear article, and the coverage on how to measure and correct for errors due to stiction is excellent.

But it over-simplifies the process by not discussing unladen sag at the front.

And like all of the expert writings, it does not go in deep into variations of bikes and riders and preferences.

They suggest 25-30mm laden front and rear.

And they suggest 5mm unladen rear.

So, these experts suggest ~ 4%/22-25% not 15%/30% at the rear.

    Wrong.

Preload does much more than that.

It F's up your ride if too much or too little and it F's up Ratchet's math as he tries to determine proper spring rate for people all over the globe.

:2c: FWIW a whole lot of crap abought :huh2: just go learn to ride a :race: and stop making excuses for lack of control or lack of ability.:stupid::oldgit::vomit:

  2. well! not many guessed the result.. pedrosa rode it like a 250. he obviously loves the track and did hold the race lap record beforehand, good for the world champion to be on the podium again, he will be on a high at laguna seca, should help make it an excellent round! capirossi ''tyre choice'' contract times :huh2:

and casey. well he's 32 points ahead. good race. and a good result for west. :bier:

  3. I think Hopper has got "it", and so does the Kwack. They just need the right momentum...Now, his departure kinda makes the silly season even more silly :)

As for this Saschenring race this week-end, I'm veryyyyy curious. If Casey can make it to the podium, i think Rossi can kiss the 2007 world championship crown good bye. This is not at all a circuit that favors a Ducati and it'll be interesting !

i'm with you on hoppers capabilitys. he's shown it recently in the major event, and the kwaka has shown it to. being a gp tragic i've been viewing past seasons at sachsenring, and it gives mixed results. but one thing that stands out at this circuit is rossi's passing ability, and it seems to stand out on this particular circuit.

''bring it on '' 1 rossi

    2 hopper

    3 stoner

    4 pedrosa- heydon........ :bier:

  4. looks very bad,

a long straight, some hairpins and worst of all most curves tightens at the end...

typical car track not suited for flowing bike races... perhaps it should be run the other way around?

but havn't they allready done that. turn one looks brutal..wouldn't you think they would have a decent grand prix track...seems they can't think outside the circle. :(

  5. Pissed with rain all afternoon, but am going on a run over to oban in the morning :bike: , hopefully miss all the showers but probably wont :bbblll: thank god for goretex.

    gary

yep...gortex  the only stuff that does the job proper. [pity it's so damn exxy]

  6. I'd love to see this happen ....

    i've read that it's confirmed...

sachsenring! total length 3671 metres, 780 straight. i'd have to bet on rossi to win ! especialy based on his past performances, last years win from 10th on the grid was legendary. hayden went well as did pedrosa,

so my prediction for this round. 1. rossi

    2. hopper

    3.stoner

    4. pedrosa ''but hayden could upset this based on his last round...

    bring it on! :bier:

  7. Just thought I'd post this picture up.... I was looking at it thinking "One of these things is not like the others..." These are incredibly popular in Hawaii from what I've seen.

    Enjoy.

  8. nights mostly cold 9-4c days 14-18c mid winter. has been quite a bit of rain in last few weeks mostly south of here with some flooding with high onshore winds and rough seas. but good thing is now past equinox and heading toward spring. my favourite time of year. great riding weather! :bike::D

  9. :2c: pratt and whitney! but wasn't that british. are the japanese up in arms now that all those toyota's mazda's honda's etc etc are being built in usa.their home brands. we here have lost most of our manufacturing industries to china. yet we are having an economic boom! we can't get our iron ore, bauxite, coal, gold, diamonds, natural gas, etc etc out of the ground quick enough. so it pans out. on the other hand we can't consume these cheap imported goods quick enough. and with all this wealth and over consumption our default on home loans and bankruptsy rates have never been so high.

our personal debt has never been so high.

our divorce rate never so high.

    crime rates.

    fraud.

and domestic violance. ''who are the winners'' share holders in far off places having a laugh..

[and how are your shares unfolding] :huh2:
