  1. Age, as in "she's thirty something, and still pretty easy on the eyes." what constitutes "a little money" is relative, I suppose.
  2. Yeah, it seems like Guzzi's demographic targeting shakes down something like this: Breva750/Nevada: 30/40-something women on a budget MGS-01: 30/40-something enthusiasts with a lot of money to spend Griso: 30/40-something enthusiasts with a little money to spend 1200S: 40/50-something semi-enthusiasts with a little money to spend Breva/CalClassic: 40/50/60-somethings on a budget (Breva for semi-enthusiasts) Norge/CalVintage/CalTouring: 50/60-somethings with good money to spend (Norge for semi-enthusiasts) It'll be interesting to see what turns up at gatherings (and in whose hands) in five years.
  3. looks like it wants to be a Scura when it grows up and develops a pair of testicles.
  4. Bikers and surfers for Exxon-Mobil-- who needs winter anyway?
  5. Never compared the Norge motor to the other new Guzzis before, but yep, looks like you're right. Guess that bike's just a stripped Norge, eh? Twin Cam 4 valver would be a nice touch in the next line, though wouldn't it? Doesn't need to be liquid cooled or OHC even-- supercharged twin cam pushrod 4-valver with the right head design would be the cat's pajamas, imho. No need to make Guzzis into Ducs or Aprilias or even Beemers, just more Guzzi-like oomph would make my day. I'm even willing to sacrifice peak hp for more and flatter torque. twist and go i always say, especially in the canyons.
  6. Interesting...that one's different from the rest. Check out the sportier rear wheel/tire and the left jug's valve cover...note how tall it is! Higher lift cam?? Pushrod FOUR valver??
  7. Heh heh. With 130 ponies and fewer than 400 lbs., I think she gonna run all over papa. Papa'd better kiss her goodbye now.
  8. Does the Scura Register have a public home? What's the URL? Is it posted here somewhere?
  9. However, a not-a-rally rally is slowly beginning to take root: http://www.socal-guzzi.com/PHPBB/viewtopic.php?p=1900#1900
  10. BTW, remember this jackal from another forum: That's Todd Eagan's bike. He's got a Le Mans front end, V11sport motor/tranny, and Wilburs rear shocks-- that bike rocks. I'm confident in saying that no Guzzi has ever been ridden faster than this one on a twisty road-- Todd is a test rider for Cycle World and Sport Bike magazines, a Red Shift Track School instructor, and is a former AMA racer (various circuits). He currently manages the AMA Super Moto race series and is the Southern Cal MGNOC rep. If you ever hit the US West Coast, ping Todd (todd@guzzitech.com), and if he's available, he might be willing to show you a road or two in Southern California. It would be well worth your while to spend an afternoon riding with Todd and his Jack-all-- in his hands, the bike does everything. track, street, dirt, you name it.
  11. goes without saying, but after you ditch the sidecovers/airbox, seat, fenders, tank, riser bars, add a custom pollywog tank, boattail seat, clip-ons, intake pods, rearsets, another front rotor/caliper, and flyscreen, and bob's your uncle.
  12. Well, you don't have to do it by PM, ya know. I'm not a cable subscriber, but I would be interested in seeing this too, ole buddy ole pal.
  13. Just read about the possibility that an at-sea earthquake possibly generated a tsunami that could make landfall in New Zealand by 11:20am Pacific Time. They've issued a tsunami warning, but don't know for sure that a tsunamii has indeed been generated. That's about one hour from now. No other details. Hope our Kiwi friends will be okay.
  14. One of my Mistral cans developed a stress fracture, so I'm going to replace the pair. I'll consider any of the Mistral oval cans so that I don't have to re-map my PCIII. Need to sell yours? Give me a call: 650-218-3124 Wallis Sholar Monrovia, CA
  15. Well, you know, we were there to ride, not to take video, AND the track day photographer didn't show up, AND the videographer was friggin' expensive...yadayadayada...bottom line is you'll have to come next time to bear witness or take video. whuddaya say? And Baldini! Nice job stickin' it to 'em. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.
  16. Actually, that's his Jackal with hopped up brakes. Everything else is pretty much stock-- even the cans. They were calling it the "cop bike" and not really enjoying having it on the track-- gives racer-types the creepin' heebies.
  17. Hey, Speed-Dave, You sayin' you don't believe Rich rides faster than your average Ricky Racer? Is that really what you're saying?? Cuz if that's what you're saying, you'd better be at the next track day to see it with your own eyes, and no weasely excuses!
  18. On Monday, at Buttonwillow Raceway in California, Rich Rodriguez did ya one better-- passed a passel of inline four Yamahondakawazukis on the inside using this: queued up in the grid (note full racing leathers): Jedione's custom V11: and the three of us with big grins at the end of the day:
  19. Hey, I think they should create a new class at Bonneville-- the WFI class. Only WFI replica bikes with mods limited to the shell, intake, top end, and exhaust-- everything else has to replicate the last Munro Special. See what folks come up with. Could be fun to follow. Could create its own cottage industry.
  20. Not so fast. There is a simple way to resolve this-- bring the Invercargill bike to Bonneville, and run it against the California bike. We'll see very plainly which bike is truly the WFI. For pinks??
  21. Great, but no worries. Just a thought. I would imagine the owner of the REAL WFI here in CA ( )stands to make a coupla bucks off the Invercargillians who snoozed and loozed on getting the bike from Munro in the first place. But seriously, I agree that the bike's proper home is in Invercargill. I'll bet the interested parties can reach an amicable agreement.
  22. Lex, I assume this is the same bike, photos taken at the British Bike Rally at Hanson Dam here in LA back in November of last year: Those are the LA area Guzzi guys checking it out (David Asman, Richard Rodriguez, me (Wallis Sholar), and my son, Owen). You think you could bring Marty to one of the Guzzi get togethers, like the one in Parkfield on April 22nd?? That would very cool for the rest of us to be able to meet him and talk to him. I just saw WFI again last night (4th time).

    Quota??

substandard suspension, slow on the road, but better off-road than a V-Strom. I ate up a very capable V-Strom rider off-road, but I could only keep up with him on twisty roads-- on the straights, it's no contest. I've owned Quota and V-Strom. The short answer is that the Quota is very manageable off-road until you get into serious suspension-requisite situations. Gobs of torque, very easy to handle, especially for a 575+ lb. bike. Reminded me of my old Honda XL-250 first time I rode it.
  24. got mine too. they're already installed. nice work, aaron.
