  1. Crude, rustic (cheap) it is! I just got my W2...sad, sad, sad.

If Ben is going to be there in July, perhaps I should try to get my hands on a Mason jar of the "local" spirits. We could have a "prayer session". I think that's what my Dad used to call it in the Navy when they beat the Hell out of a guy

    Scott

  2. Nice try.  I literally had gotten out of the shower and was clean 'fore I tried it on.

Seriously, if you are a small XL, you can have it ... unless Kathi's whip has me svelte soon!

I'll bring it to docc's Sweetwater rally in July.

I'll be there- I'll trade you a bottle of grappa for it. Now I just have to figure out what the Hell grappa is. Is it anything like port? If so, I may drink it all before you get here.

  3. I think those are super.  I ended up going through the hell of hysterical district bureacracy and building a garage, but before--and certainly during!--that ordeal, I considered those, and even looked into transatlantic shipping, as I could not find a US counterpart quite as good.

Let us know how that turns out.

I saw the pics of the grand opening of that thing. That there is no garage- tis a shrine to things on two wheels. Seriously, you could apply for tax exempt status as "The Church of Latter Day Guzzis" :notworthy:

  4. I just had the most surreal experience at my local Buell-HD dealer.

I went there to investigate some luggage for the new bike, and they asked me why I didn't buy it from them. When I told them where I got it, they came over all mardy and told me they wouldn't do the first free service, I would have to pay them £300 and ask the selling dealer to reimburse me.

Christ, that Scottish dealer has really pissed off all the other UK H-D dealers with their cheap Firebolt offer. The local guy also said fitting the "free" race kit would be expensive and wasn't a home job. Hah! His string was yanked even more when I said the free kit was fitted and tuned ready to go.

Quite why they should think I am some sort of awkward and unreasonable bloke for shopping round for the best deal in the country I don't know. Surely, if you are in business you are there to compete. If you can't compete, it's no good trying to punish the punters.......

What we've got here is; Which came first- the chicken or the egg? :huh2:

Which came first- The dealer who provides lousy service and gouges prices, or the customer who won't be loyal? :huh2:

This dealer will eventually learn the power of word of mouth advertising- by loss proffit, layoffs, and maybe even shutting it's doors. I've seen it.

In short: This is no business to hold a grudge, word will get around, quickly, and bite you on the ass.

  5. I'm sure we could all squeeze in an extra 30 to stay at your place. You don't mind if Scott brings his 'friend' from Athens?

I'm about 30 min from Sweetwater myself- but with a "date" like that in tow, probably safest to keep it in the hotel :D:D:D

  6. ...or I could ride another 30ish miles and sleep at home.  That is if I ever get to live in my new house.  :homer: k

Sounds like a story is forthcoming......

    Where you moving to anyway?

  7. Docc,

Be sure and let me know when that is, I'd like to be there.

You can tell me that story over a beer or three.

The signs missing HAD to be the work of outsiders- the hillbillies around here only shoot at them!

  8. Unseasonably warm (70 Sun.) weather here in East Tennessee brought me out of hibernation; and got my arse on the Ballabio. I naturally gravitated towards Deal's Gap (129), and noticed on the ride up that every so often there was a sign post with only a tiny sign with the word south on it. These are supposed to contain larger signs just below that read "129", but it seems someone (likely one of you limey sportbike ridin' fuhriners) has stolen the "129" (I counted at least 12) to keep as souveniers.

Please return these to me and I will put them in their proper place (my ebay)

    Regards

  9. Will be celebrating christmas in a log cabin on the coast of Norway in the light of candles and open fireplaces, winterstorms roaring outside. Far away from my garage with the V11 and Ghost waiting patiently, but very close to my magnum bottle of Tuscan sunshine.

If Jedi's original post hadn't put me in such a good mood I could hate you just a little bit for this.

    Happy Holidays!

  10. 2525,

Getting ready to change my fork oil myself, I'll try to take as many

notes as possible for ya if ya havent already done it.

More importantly, a buddy of mine and myself have been dying

to ride the Dragon, ever since we watched "Bitten by the Dragon"

If we ever make it out there from Cali, hopefully this spring/summer,

I'll look you up.  You could give us the tour!!!  Thats got to great having

that road in your back yard.

    Later, rubber side down,

    Jedi,

Yes, please make good notes (and pics).

Let me know when you figure on being here- I'd be glad to show you guys around.

Sadly, the Dragon has been a bit over-run with idiot kids who insist on killing themselves (and don't mind wrecking the rest of us in the process), but if we can hit it on a weekday it will be ridable.

I may hit you up for the same thing, as I am looking into a west coast run towards the end of next summer.

    Later,

    Scott

  11. Docc,

Yup, Destination is here, I think they wanted about $300 for this. I bought a liter of Bel ray for $8. See?

I have a manual, but it seems a bit vague (covers too many year models) and the caps they picture are different from mine.

The main thing I'm after is what to do when the forks are off and in hand. I've been told to pump the forks and leave them hanging over night to drain completely. I guess the biggest question is how far must I disassemble?

    Thanks guys

  12. Thanks guys, I had already found that link though. I was hoping that somewhere I could find a more step by step, maybe with pics. There is a guy near here (Maryville BTW) that might can talk me through it.

I have not had a bad experience with my local dealer. I did drive to ATD to buy mine and save some $$$ though. I'm awfully cheap to have the dealer service.

You guys ever want to do the Dragon (20 min. from home here) let me know- comfy couch you can sleep on.

    Docc- Where in middle TN?

  13. My first post here- Nice to meet you all!

It's time to do a fork oil change (Marz 43mm, I think) on My '04 Ballabio. I have been all over your tech section, and can't find clear instructions. Can somebody point me towards these?

I'm usually a pretty good wrench, but I've never done fork oil before and am a bit intimidated.

Having the local dealer do this is not an option.

    Thanks all,

    S

  14. Guys, I've been trying to follow along here, as I need to do a fork oil change on the Ballabio. How much of this pertains to just changing the oil?

Once the caps are unscrewed (with the tubes off the bike) what is the procedure? Am I expecting any spring tension here? (removing the caps)

    Thanks
