  1. I'm thinking along the same lines. A friend at work just told me about a place he uses in Blane WA. Most wholesale motorcycle outlets also ship for free in the US. so I just have to pick it up from Sumas which is only a 15 minute drive from my place. I have never bought anything from the states but with the Canadian dollar at a 30 year high, plus the better prices I think my next purchase will probably come from the US.
  2. Can you guys enlighten me about this tire deal? I'm looking to put on the Pirelli diablo strata, the prices here in Canada are listed at 201.95 for the front (120/70 ZR17) and 253.96 for the rear (170/60 ZR17) plus taxes! I found a set on ebay for 216.00 US (that's for both!) but they only ship to the U.S. If any of the local BC guys are reading this and know of a local dealer that has good prices can you post it here please.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. I'll see what I can figure out. I have most of the materials I need already just have to find some wheels. I'll post a picture when it's done. I also thought about making the whole thing a little taller so that you could get the rear wheel completely off the ground. The flat bar that I have for the uprights are about 1 1/2" X 1/2". It should be a sturdy stand (maybe slightly over engineered, but hey I am a locomotive mechanic! ) Anyway we'll see how it turns out.
  4. Thanks for the info. No worries about giving away the measurements because I have seen commercially sold stands that also obviously copy the original guzzi paddock stand. I have a motorcycle/atv jack I may just make an attachment for it so I can put my V11 on there a little more securely. I guess some of the guys on this forum have not been too happy with the paddock stand, because of bikes falling off and other issues. I'll maybe try to improve on the current stand and make it more stable. (sounds like that may have to wait and turned into a winter project-riding season is finally here!) Thanks for taking the time to answer my post, this forum is a great source of information.
  5. I would like to make a homemade version of the guzzi factory stand, and save myself a couple of bucks in the process. If anyone who has the stand could take some measurements for me and post it here it would make things a little easier. I can get the materials for free or really cheap and I can fabricate and weld the whole thing at work. Thanks.
  6. British Italian Motorcyles in Vancouver BC. has some on their web site. www.motorcyclesource.com/ They are Davida helmets, I don't know if these are the ones you are looking for.
  7. Well I just finished putting my V11 back together after greasing the driveshaft u-joints. You would be suprised how difficult it is to get a swivel fitting for a grease gun. I tried all the local automotive parts stores as well as all the hardware stores and even local farm equipment suppliers. Aklands had nothing in stock neither did KMS Tools. So, I took a regular grease fitting end and ground it down to make it more narrow then I added a close nipple followed by a 45 degree pipe fitting. Attached this to the front grease nipple after removing the rear wheel and lower shock bolt as well as removing the shield around the u-joint. Screwed on the flexible hose and pump away. What a chore! It was kind of nice to get to know my bike a little more intimately, I guess that's just the gear head in me. I am a mechanic after all, although I usually have a lot more room to work on the locomotives.
  8. Hey Steve, I bought it used from Daytona in Surrey last year(April, I think). She needed to be rescued and I couldn't resist her good looks! Daytona got it from British Italian in Vancouver, who was the dealer that originally sold it and then took it back on a trade-in. By the way, do you know what the production numbers were for these bikes per year? Mine is a 2001, I don't know which years they made the green ones like yours and mine. See ya, Zoltan
  9. Hey guys you can add me to the list for the Italian show in North Van. I went last year but in my cage. This time I will bring the bike. Oh let me introduce myself, I'm Zoltan from Abbotsford and I ride a 2001 V11 Sport (green). By the way Steve G. I heard that there was another Guzzi like mine somewhere in Langley or Surrey from the looks of it its you!
