  1. I have pictures Jim! It's too bad I missed Steve and Van. We got to the show late (went to a party until 3:30 in the morning -need I say more!) I must have just missed Steve and later I parked my bike next to Van's but when I came back from lunch Van was already gone. We'll have to meet next year, or for coffee at Caffe Calabria. Anyway the show was great, I'll post some pictures here and if you want all the pictures I can email you the full set.
  2. My dad used to work at an oil refinery as well, I guess I should have asked him. The topic never came up. He used to mix the lead into the fuel, so he probably doesn't remember much.
  3. I am Canadian and even I don't like Molson Canadian! You have to have your tastebuds tuned up! And Czechvar is a very good beer, it is the original Bubweiser ( before the stated stole the name) it is just as good as any German lager. You must have had a bad batch of this fine beer. I only drink lagers in the summertime, I'm more of an ale man myself. And nothing better than Guinness in the wintertime.
  4. My kind of topic! I love my beer! The best beer I have ever tasted is made in Scotland by Innis & Gunn, it is aged in American white oak barrels. It is being imported into Canada and they can't keep it on the shelves in the liquor stores. It is $3.25 per 355 ml bottles, but it is worth every penny! I have to stop telling everyone about this beer because it keeps getting sold out!
  5. I have always been taught not to mix different multi-viscosity oils. I'm not a chemist just a mechanic.
  6. I used your list, and your advise on the aftermarket pads for the V11. Thank you very much. I ended up going with the stock Brembo pads because I realized that I needed a set and it was a Saturday and the only one that had them was the Guzzi dealer. They only use the stock Brembo ones and say that most guys usually get 20,000 km out of therm. I popped them in right away and now it has been raining steady since! Hopefully it will be nice for Sunday's Italian show.
  7. Christel, don't hold back! Tell us how you really feel! I think you will fit in on this forum just fine!
  8. Van you may want to check this out and plan your ride, it will help you with Washington State anyway. DH website
  9. Sounds good Jim, it would be great to go for a ride with a bunch of Guzzi guys! Hey I would really love to see that MGS, I've only seen one online but not in the flesh. It's too bad you can't make it to the Italian show. Work always gets in the way of fun, I had to plan ahead and book two days vacation just so I can get the weekend off. My regular days off are Wednesday and Thursday, great aren't they. PM me for sure if you want to go for a burn!
  10. Hey Van do you get the feeling that the other guys don't want to talk to us regarding the show in North Van? You keep asking(previous posts) if all the V11 guys from the Fraser Valley area are going to be there but I seem to be the only one answering.
  11. Yeah, I'll be there. Does that mean we have to wash the bikes? My friend said you have to bring a blanket. I said what for? So you can lay it down on the ground incase you have to ride over a puddle. I said you have us Guzzi guys confused with the Ducati Girls!
  12. Hey Jim, me and a buddy were on the same loop yesterday! We should let eachother know next time! The scenery was great, the motorhomes were slooooow! We got around them in a hurry! We stopped to have a look at Brandyvine Falls, it is something to see! Here is my ugly mug! We had dinner in Lillooet and ran into a couple of railroaders (just like us) and had a good chat over dinner. We left at 9 o'clock in the morning from Abbotsford and got back around 9 o'clock at night, we made a lot of stops since it was the first time we rode the loop. We went the same route you took, the construction on the Sea to Sky really sucks. It slowed us down, the road surface around Duffy Lake is terrible, just like you said. My friend hit a pothole on his BMW so hard that he bottomed the suspension front and back, he was leading the charge at that point and I saw him hit it and it lifted him out of the saddle. I adjusted my line but I hit the hole right next to the one he hit! No other drama to report. Take one Guzzi (or as many as you can get together) take 600 km loop, take the most beautiful country side on earth and a sunny day, that is what the Doctor ordered!
  13. I really like the first two from rossopuro! High pegs low bars! I also like that Quat-D exhaust that's on that bike, I'm starting to get the itch for some new parts! No scratch right now.
  14. Hey! Not all of us mechanics will work for beer and Chinese food , Oh wait we will!!!
  15. Thanks for the info, I think he said that it's currently silver so I'll have to get it painted. But that's OK. Actually I just bought a HVLP gravity feed gun maybe I'll spray it myself! I'll have to get some paint made up to match my green machine.
  16. I was at the guzzi dealer and got a line on a stucchi small fairing for my V11 S (green) the guy wants $75 for it but I'd have to get it painted. (Steve G. if you read this can you post where you had yours painted and what it cost, Thanks!) He didn't have the fairing with him so I'm not sure what it looks like. Is it the same as the ones available at MG Cycle? Thanks, Zoltan
  17. Can someone post the part number for the K&N filter please. I need to get one, I have a friend that works at a auto parts store and can get me a good deal on the filter but he most likely doesn't have a motorcycle listing.
  18. OK, we should have some of our more experienced guys give us a lesson on basic fork set up! I'm an infant when it comes to suspension set up. Where do you start? What is the factory setting? I'm 5' 10" and 180 lbs and my forks seem very stiff, I haven't measured but they don't move much. Any takers, Paul? Please
  19. My wife and I have gone on a few rides together. The first time we went to a swap meet and put about 200 km on the bike in one afternoon. She said that the seat isn't very comfortable and also it is slanted so she slides forward especially when I'm braking. This makes it uncomfortable for me as well because you get extra pressure on your hands from the bars because you are holding up your weight plus hers. (Not to mention the pressure on your nuts being crammed into the gas tank!) I like to have my wife along since she is my best friend but I think both of us agree that it would be better for her to get her own bike. Also the exhaust cans feel hot under her feet, I have the stock cans on the bike. (She doesn't have proper riding boots either so that could be why.)
  20. I paid about 220 Canadian (that's with 14% tax included) they aren't cheap, but they work well.
  21. I think the new Griso's exhaust can is the ugliest that Guzzi could have come up with. There aren't any models in the current line-up that would make me part with my V11. I did pitch the idea of a Breva 750 for my wife, but I think I would be more inclined to go with a Ducati Monster(620 or 750). I would like to see Moto Guzzi come out with something more on the sporting side (and not just for Track use only!) until then my next bike will most likely be Duc over a Goose. ( I'll hang onto the V11 greeny).
  22. Last time I was at my dealer I picked up all the lube and filters, Motul synthetic for the motor and trany and Moto Guzzi dino gearlube for the rear. My dealer never even mentioned adding moly. I haven't changed the rear drive oil yet, but I'll have to pick up some moly from the sound of it. Its a good thing that I read this forum! (I guess I could read the owner's manual )
  23. Thanks for the tip Dan M! I bought the rear tire from a dealer in Burnaby and signed up for the front tire deal (92 left). My local dealer gave me a quote on the rear tire at full retail after I told him about the tire offer from pirelli. The website said that the front tire had to be shipped to a Parts-Canada dealer. When I asked my dealer for a deal on the rear tire his reply was that I was already getting a free front tire! Yes, I said but that has no bearing on wheather you give me good deal on the rear or not! So I got the tire from a different dealer that nocked about 60 bucks off the retail price. When it is all said and done I will have paid about $250 canadian for the set of Pirelli's. Very good deal indeed, too bad my local dealer isn't getting my business but I am fed up with high prices and crap service. Good service and a willingness to give a guy a break on the price goes a long way to retaining a customer. I'm not saying the dealer should give the stuff away but there is more than a little room built into the price.
  24. Thanks for the info, I hadn't checked the site in the last couple of days. So I already signed up with a company (Package Express) in Sumas the other day, I found them on the web and you can register online as well. $3US per package for 0-49 lbs. Here is a question? Do you have to pay duty on most stuff or do you just pay the taxes. I think the rules are that you don't have to pay duty on stuff that is manufactured in the USA or Mexico (because of NAFTA). What has been your experience with other items, for example if you bring in something that is manufactured in Italy but sold through a dealer in the US? Also I was talking to a parts guy at Richmond Motorsports yesterday, to get a quote on the Pirelli Diablo Stratas and he told me that he doesn't normally carry them because they can't give them away. He said the guys around here don't seem to like them, but guys in the States seem to like them. Now I am starting to rethink my choice. Maybe I should go with the Bridgestone BT 020's.
  25. I plan to be there. I don't know about the ride afterwards, we'll have to see. It depends on how long of a ride you were thinking of (overnight or just for the rest of the day on the 18th?). Post your plans and we can get something together.
