  1. Thanks for all the replies, I think I'll stay away from that one. Maybe I'll get my honda cb400 back together over the winter and let my wife learn to ride on it next spring. Then I can get her a Guzzi, maybe another V11.
  2. here it is Sport Cycle Pacific
  3. I was thinking of getting it for the wife, but she doesn't like it. I like it, no there is no second agenda! I'll check how many miles on it, the price does seem high.
  4. There is a '79 MG V50III for sale here locally for $2700 are these good? I kind of like the looks, trying to convince my wife to get it. Anything to lookout for? Is this a good price. Here are some pics.
  5. I bought my Pirelli Diablo Stratas when they had the deal on for Canadians, and just had them installed before going on a trip recently. I love them, they turn in very well and are sticky enough for the street.

    Helmet Testing

I bought a Shark helmet because it was a European standard helmet after I read the magazine article. The Shark has a crumple zone inside where the foam is, just like a car has a frontal crumple zone instead of a stiff bumper. This made sense to me so I bought the Shark helmet. I hope to have made the right choice.
  7. This stand looks like a good alternative to the guzzi stand, much more secure and very slick. Which adapter did you order? They don't list Moto Guzzi on their website. I guess it must be one that is listed under Ducati. If you can post the kit number for the adapter set, it would be great.

    touring

We just got back from a weekend trip to Vancouver Island British Columbia and I can tell you that when you ride with a passenger on a V11 it won't be too comfy for either one of you. My wife figures that becase the seat is slanted forward and the passenger pegs are high it is difficult for her to keep from leaning on me. She tries to brace herself on the tank when she can but you can't maintain that for very long. The road to Tofino on the West Coast was very twisty, I got to ride it on the way there solo, and we rode it back two up. 140 km of motorcycle riding bliss.
  9. That sounds like a good plan Jim, I hadn't thought about doing that but I'll look into it. I'm going to buy the destination highways book for BC and plan some of the roads accordingly. I know there is a guy in Coombs (with the goats on the roof) who makes custom motorcycle jackets and other leather stuff so I would like to check that out. I will take lots of pictures and post some when I get back.
  10. I found a link that lists the part number for the buell turn signals.here
  11. I'm leaving on a trip to Vancouver Island on Saturday Aug. 12th from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. Staying with a relative in Port Alberni Saturday night and got a place in Tofino for Sunday night, back to the mainland on Monday afternoon. I'm looking for suggestions on good motorcycling roads and places to check out along the way. I have a week to plan the route it will be four of us on two bikes. (we are bringing the girls, so 1000km days are out of the question, if you know what I mean ) Any tips would be greatly appreciated. PS: Micro breweries are a good enough reason for a detour! ( any good ones Steve G. ?)
  12. He will be a happy guy, whom ever it is! That's a nice bike, I love that paint job!
  13. Mine is doing the exact same thing, since it has been hot around here, especially when you are on the hiway and than take the exit and come to a stop. The bike stalls if I don't catch it with the throttle. I haven't checked the valves, is the .008/.010 spec measured when cold or hot? Also can someone post a pic of the air bypass screw, are there one on each throttle body or only one, which side? ( Yes I have had a few beer! So what? It is very hot today about 34C).
  14. I have a $368.00 speeding ticket to prove that I can't see shit out of my mirrors. I guess I should have spent the money on bar end weights, lead and napoleon mirrors instead!
  15. Glad to hear you had a good time. That trip sounds great. I'll be going to the island in August, it should be fun too. My wife has a cousin who just moved to Port Alberni, so we'll ride up there then onto Tofino and the rest I haven't figured out yet. I want to hit some of the roads in the destination highways book. Hopefully I'll catch you next year at the Italian show in North Van. Next year I'll try to get there on time and without a hangover!
  16. I just left it open, it rains here often but I haven't seen a problem yet.
  17. Hey Van how was your trip? Did you see these pics from the show in North Van? It's too bad I missed you, I had my bike parked beside yours but you left by the time we got back.
  18. Mine fell out too, I don't think I'll bother to get another one. 200 to 220 km until the low fuel light comes on and then a maximum of 50 km to go until empty. I can never put in more than 17 or so litres of fuel. You can't get the last four litres out. Oh well, it's Italian!
  19. I just saw an ad on SPEED for 1-800-motorcycle an American lawfirm. Their linkhere
  20. I'm sorry to hear about your mishap, Steve. I hope you'll heal soon and get back to riding. Look into getting some legal advice for sure. It seems like that if you are a motorcyclist or cyclist or a pedestrian for that matter, and something happens to you that is completely out of your control nobody seems to take you seriously. I was once hit by a car in a crosswalk directly under a street light and the cop said that I was wearing a dark jacket and implied that it was my fault! (I was a teenager back then and didn't know how to persue it, if that happened now I would deal with the cop and the guy who hit me differently that is for sure!) Get a lawyer and push the issue, look for someone from the motorcycling community who will understand what it is like to ride a motorcycle and how many hazards we have to deal with, and how we seem to have less rights because of the "dangerous" activity we choose to persue (what a bunch of crap! ) Good Luck Steve, and Get Well Soon! See ya, Zoltan
  21. Thanks Steve, I'm going to do that to my bars as well. My Dad and I used to make our own lead weight for fishing when I was a kid so I'm familiar with melting lead.
  22. I used the compressor as well, it worked great. I put on some pro grips, still not the greatest. I find that I get a high frequency vibration at around 4000 rpm and if I hold it at that engine speed my fingers go completely numb. I get the pins and needles but it is different then before with the old grips it was pressure on the palm of my hand that was causing my fingers to fall asleep. I'm thinking of trying some different bar end weights before I change grips again. If anyone has a suggestion for a good solution let us know.
  23. I have never met a beer I wouldn't drink even if it wasn't the best stuff until I bought and uncorked a bottle of this stuff So that's why they call it terrible! Because it is. Memo to self: don't buy beer from the french canadians. They better stick to maple syrup.
  24. I ran out of space for the pictures on the last post. I'll have to scale down the pictures. Here it goes. The Tenni is Van's and the MV is his brother in law's (from Texas) so that must be the 910 brutale
