  1. I thought about the caps... still might do that. Did you ever get the housing open? I did finally get mine open, obviously... I had to remove the four nuts at the rear (or front... front of the bike), disconnect the speedo cable, and unscrew the trip odometer reset knob. Then I pushed forward on the four bolts coming out of the housing. These are mounted to the tach and speedo, so they will wiggle out of the face plate. The whole thing should come apart then. And inside, you'll find the white plastic bulb-holder with the crumbling plastic. The PC-7 epoxy works great. You can smooth it with a wet finger like I did, just for fun. I posted before that I wondered what the plastic tab at the back of the intrument housing was for, and if it's supposed to come off. I snapped mine off... looks like it was plastic welded on. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be for... it covers up a small hole. I epoxied it back on as well. Yeah! Now you're talking. Are these a standard item?
  2. Hmm, I'm not sure I want a bodge point. It bugs me just knowing that that fuggly mess is inside the dash. My nature is to try to make it all look shiny and new. For me, "bodge" = temporary. Anyhoo... Here's a pic of the red cover, all installed nice and neat. I swear, getting this thing on was way more trouble than say, putting on the Stucci X-over. Just goes to show that you never know what you're getting in for... It's kind of cool, but it's a little darker than the stock red frame-bracing thing at the back. Also, now there is this "island of red" up there, with nothing else to anchor it. Maybe if my grips had some slight red accent? Am I obsessing? Yes!
  3. Really? Could it be thrown off just by unbolting? There are two bolts upper and lower that hold the stays, I only removed the outer one. Yeah, I saw that thread... it looks interesting. Has everyone taken off their rear hugger? I thought I was being semi-original there. If someone would make a form-fitting "mini hugger" that didn't cover up the swingarm at all, I'd be very interested in that.
  4. Has anyone here installed an O2 sensor like this LC-1 in the bung on the Stucci crossover? It seems like it would fit the bung properly, but there is part of the frame right above it, that might get in the way. I could imagine it both fitting and not fitting... it would be close. pic below of the bung, but you can't really see the part that might block the sensor.
  5. SO not only are they not functional, but they are dangerous... kind of. The bolt on the bottom of the t-body has a tapered head, so it wouldn't sit flush when going through the lower hole in these covers. On the way into work today, I noticed the throttle sticking when rolling on. Then, at one point, the throttle got stuck rolling off! Luckily, I blipped it, and it got unstuck. Turns out the throttle linkage was hanging up slightly on the head of the bolt. So, non-functional, non-aesthetic, and dangerous. I guess they're coming off. Too bad, I wanted to like them. Anyone want to buy them?
  6. Heh, ironically, they ARE Italian. Pretty sure Firestarter Garage makes them right there. I think that the intention was to match the grey rear brake line cover. I see your point though. Actually, I got a red anodized instrument cover, and now I'm thinking it MIGHT be too much red. If my bike were all black, maybe it could handle more red, but it's got a green tank. It might be a little Christmas-ish. Hard to say until I get the rest of the parts painted the way I want them.
  7. Yeah, they seem kind of pointless to me. LIke jrt said, if they were rounded, maybe more like the rear brake line cover, then they'd fit in. It's just weird to have a sudden square part right there. I'll probably keep them on though, until I've done all my other planned mods, and see how I feel then.
  8. With my tailsection order from Rossopuro, I also got these fine... thingies. What do you think? Not exactly bling, but are they helping or hurting the overall guzziness? (it's the covers for the throttle bodies we're lookin at)
  9. OK, here's the plastic housing that's all cracked. Cheap styrene from the looks of it (and the fact that it softens in acetone ) And here's my exquisite craftsmanship The epoxy is hardening tonight, so we'll see if it holds tomorrow. I dunno... *I* think it looks pretty damn bodgy.
  10. Amen. That's the bike I'd buy.
  11. Me too... they took down the link or something. I wish I had saved some of those pics.

Ah, that's sad. I'm not a big fan of the rubber pad.
  13. I got the tail section yesterday, it might be a week or two before I get it on though. It's in pretty rough shape, a lot of sanding and filler work will be needed before painting. I don't know if they are all that way, but I was hoping for something a little more finished. Oh well, it will still be cool. Nothing a little Bondo can't fix.
  14. ha, ok, I'll post pics. I ordered a new piece today which was (surprisingly) in stock. In the meantime, I'll epoxy it so I can still ride. If I had the equipment, I'd fabricate something. I'd like to learn how to do more of that at some point.
  15. There are definitley some nice designs in that batch. It's hard to pick which is my favorite, but I think it's this one. I would totally buy that as my next bike. http://www.coseguzzistiche.it/rsdesign/boz...amp;bozzetto=12
  16. Yeah, but that's not a sport bike, that's a motard. It would be a completely new line for them, not based on anything, from the looks of it.
  17. heh, is a bodge point for *finding* a shoddy part, or for *fixing* one. I doubt if my intended fix (need to get some good epoxy first, maybe PC-7) is worth any kind of point. I got my cover from Rossopuro. Mine is in red, although now I'm thinking the polished one might have been cooler. It's a nice piece. The face of it still has the machine marks on it from the CNC, which I kind of like. Here's the link. red indicatro cover I'll post pics of the operation when I do the surgery.
  18. OK... I got it off, kind of. I managed to push the speedo and tach out of their gasketed mounting holes, and the whole housing seperated. What I found inside, the white housing for the intrument lights, was possibly the cheapest looking plastic thing I've ever seen in my life. There HAD been three molded bits that the were holding three threaded brass cylinders to hold the hex bolts. They had literally crumbled like it was made of sugar. I wouldn't be surprised if this piece had been sitting in some bin at the factory for 20 years before it was put into my bike. Ugh. I guess I'll try to goop on some epoxy to hold the cylinder nuts. I'm not sure I have faith that the rest of the thing won't crumble to dust at some point in the future.
  19. Ok, this should be the easiest thing in the world... I bought a red anodized instrument cover for the V11. You know, to replace the plastic bit that covers up the check-lights, etc. on the intrument panel. There are three normal-looking hex bolts holding it in place. ONE of them comes right out, the other two just spin in place. The only thing I can think of is that they are fastened with a nut on the other side that doesn't have anything to grab onto. I can't imagine why it would be put together that way. I've tried opening the speedo/tach housing from the other side, but are those two bolts still holding it together? Good grief! It won't come apart, and I can't see any other fasteners (unless the speedo/tach bezels are holding it). The only other thing I can think to try is there is a plastic cover on the back of the whole housing that looks like it might pop off and reveal some more fastners. But I'm scared to pry it too much, for fear of breaking it. Has anyone taken off that front intrument light cover that can tell me some trick to taking these two tiny bolts out? This is WAY harder than it should be.

Where did you get the gast tank cover from? Do you have a link to it?
  21. Yeah, I got em. Munroe in SF had the U-shaped ones. Here's a question, the clamp that pulls the header onto the head, it doesn't actually clamp down the whole way to the head, right? I found that there is about a 1/8" gap. Also, the clamp has a flat spot on one side, and it's smoothly rounded on the other. Is there a certain way they're supposed to go on? I couldn't see any obvious difference. Just to clarify, I don't mean which side goes against the head... that's obvious lol. I mean can it be spun on the header so either bolt-hole is on top? And ANOTHER question... how tight should the metal "pipe-clamps" be? The ones that connect the various exhaust pieces. I think I stripped one, cause I was trying to make sure there were no leaks. I guess I got too excited about it. I know these are all pretty basic questions, just trying to make sure I do it right.
  22. Yeah, OK.... that's pretty damn bad-assed. I love it! I love the whole look of your bike... it reminds me of my old Monster Dark, on steroids. I might have to go all-black on mine also, but maybe I'll do gloss. My tail section just shipped today! I also got their own fender eliminator, and a red anodized instrument cover. I can't wait! gh67, who made your seat?
  23. Yeah, she's great. I saw a special on the whole making of her show once, and she seems so sweet. You should send her a picture of your bike, get a larger one so she can see it's a Guzzi. Seriously, I'll bet she'd get a kick out of it. On another topic, I'm sure this is not the case, but it looks like you have a small brass bell hanging from your panier mounts.
  24. I'm looking for a spare fuel tank. I want to paint it black, or if you have one in black, that's even better. I know it's a long-shot, but if you have one for sale, I'm interested. My bike is an '03.
  25. Yeah, I looked this morning and I think I see it. I didn't have time to really pry around. It's metal right? Must be a softer metal because it looks like it kind of compresses as the header clamps down, to make a tight seal. Is it stuck in there with any kind of compound, or just loose-fit? Thanks for the help guys, even the dumb stuff I feel like I'm just learning once, and then I got it. Slowly stacking up knowledge of this machine, and steadily bonding with it more and more
