  1. Hello everyone. I looked into the oil filter tool after I had read that you could pay up tp £80.00 for the Guzzi tool or about £7.00 for a FIAT tool. Here is the information that you need. I bought a new Moto Guzzi filter part No 30.15.30.00 I then went to my local motor vehicle factor ( posh word for a shop that sells mainly to the trade and bought a LASER Oil Filter Wrench 3/8 cup type (8 flutes) And guess what it fits like a glove Hope that this saves you a fortune. 2. Just to add my two penneth. On a tour of Scandanavia the best I got was 55 MPG Imperial. That was at a steady 50 mph. The only thing that annoyed me was my friend was on a Hardly Moving Son 883 and he got 75 MPG Imperial. In case you think I am a wuss, if you get caught doing more than 50 KPH over the speed limit in Norway its straight to jail. Normal riding then its 40 - 45 imperial. 3. Dear Van, Can you please pass on my hopes that he makes a speedy recovery. As a farther who regulary takes his children pillion it is as you say 'a farthers worst nightmare' that anything should happen. However, I take the view that, why should I spoil my childrens and my own enjoyment just because of something that might happen. One could spend an eternity trying to find comfort in words or verbal explanations. All I can say is that Tom will be in my thoughts and prayers. Yours The Foggster
  4. Sounds a little like a problem I had with my V11. The main earth is tracable straight from the earth of the battery and runs down ending around the rear centre of the engine. Roughly in line with the rear tyre. Fiddled with that and all appeared ok. But it was a red herring because it was the dreaded relay problem. Chck other threads for that. Hope that this helps The Foggster
  5. Dear All, It appears that everyone has had the e-mail. Someone has obviously been placing materialof an offensive nature on the site. This means that the moderators have a lot of work to do clearing it up etc. Moderators are as far as I am aware unpaid or paid very little for what they do. Someone who has a real love of Moto Guzzis and V11s in particular takes a lot of time to run this site. Which I expect he / she does for very little. If i had out that much work in and it was being abused I would send exactly the same message. The Foggster
  6. You read my mind Dave. If anyone is that bored the actual paint No is98606bf. Its best to spray a little at a time from a foot away. Also if you are in the UK its best to order it from Jersey harley Davidson as they are cheaper than other UK dealers but its still £18.00 a can. I think that I will respray and find some other bits and pieces to polish. Many Many thanks for all your help the Foggster Ferret breeder and all round good egg
  7. Thanks for the advise it looks yet again like I may have opened a can of worms. If I read your replies correctly removing the box would appear to be easy but it will still have its internals in which case it will weigh a ton making lifting it to carry out polishing impossible. Oh well any other suggestions??? By the way Raz I will be in Sweden in June. I am travelling from Norway across southern Sweden, then getting a ferry to Turku in Finland and then up to Lapland before travelling to the Nord Cap and then down to catch the ferry back from Norway. Its a small world. Many thanks to you and Pete taking the time to reply.
  8. Happy New Year to one and all. I have a couple of weeks off in feb so I am looking at polishing a few pieces on the V11. I want to take off the shft drive housing that attaches onto the rear wheel. As usual the paint has peeled and it looks a mess. If I take the wheel out will the outer housing unbolt and come away ? Hope that someone has done it before and can help. The Foggster
  9. We made a similar trip last year. We were heading for the Nordcap but it took us so long to travel up the Fjords that we could not make it. We spoke with some Bikers who said that once above the Arctic Circle the ride to the Nordcap was boring and if the weather turned could be very iffy. We are going back in June 08 with the intention of touring Lapland and the Lofoten Is. Have a couple of ccredit cards as for some reason my friends was not always accepted. Petrol was about £6.00 a gallon but as you are not able to travel fast you will get great fuel economy. If I had to say one thing its this, the place is just drop dead gorgeous and we made the right decision in not trying to get to the Nordcap, instead we just took our time and enjoyed the place. If it had cheap beer it would be over run!!!!
  10. Does anyone know the name of the little Italian fellow who only occasionally gets up from his chair to activate my neutral light. Also is he related to the chap who activates my Oil light when it rains. Are they a family because the one who engages my engine start needs to be reminded by my fiddling with every switch before he decides to make the necessary connection. Yours in completely bemused ownership THE FOGGSTER
  11. On the same lines Someone who does not panic probably has not grasped the seriousness of the situation or he already has a scapegoat!! The Foggster
  12. Stoner for the championship. 2nd GP he let those in front scrap it out. He sat back and took the points. le Mans, he stayed on and let those in front take the risks of falling off. He knows he has the bike to beat and he is just getting on with racking up the points. barring injury he will be the 2007 world champ. So Speaks the Foggster Firm of stance and of buttock
  13. I was in exactly the same position as yourself. I decided to take the plunge and bought a 2002 Le Mans. This co-incided with my farther getting ill and numerour runs to home and back - I am in the forces. The first run was in torrential rain and I mean torrential. the bike never missed a beat, stood outside for 2 days and then rode home in torrential rain. again never missing a beat. All I can tell you is that my only regret is not getting a Guzzi earlier. Try it and you will find that there is a difference between Italian and Jap bikes and its not reliability its SOUL
  14. many thanks, Ther is a lot to digest. It looks like I will get the connector pipe made and put the open cans on. I will by then hopefully have met other V11 owners who have made mods. I can then compare and see if it is worth paying for a PC 111
  15. Many thanks Skeeve thats just what I wanted to know. Pity about the PC 111, but I will have to bite the bullett.
  16. Hello to one and all. I have recently purchased a 2002 V11 Lemans. I have limited funds but some good friends. What I need is some sound advice. The bike is standard but I have been offered some alloy 'Carbon Can Co' track exhausts from a TLR 1000 Suzuki. I also have a friend who can make me up some extensions so that they can be mated to the existing pipework. Being short of knowledge and cash are the following worthwhile: A powercommander - or will the existing fuel injection system automatically adjust the mixture accordingly. A crossover pipe - I take it this is a pipe that links the headers with the Lanfranconi originals. Is this pipe restricted? A K&N filter, also I have read some people leave the airfilter lid off. Does this work, which is the best aftermarket filter. Finally I am not interested about top end. I want mid range and an improvement in fuel economy would be nice as I do a lot of touring.
