  1. Ik weet het Antonio!

I finally feel that I can spend money on those wheels after thinking about them for a while (this is since my Girl just bought a Ducati multistrada so the scura needs some pimping to feel a bit more sexy! :D:D ) and now I can't get any!!

I don't like the magnesium ones... the Braking onces are not an option with an modified cush drive as stated by Paul and I would agree it has to be safe and reliable in my view!!!

Running out of ideas but maybe if we can approach Braking with a firm group buy they might be keen? or OZ racing to run another series?

    any thoughts on that one?

  2. Like all the others before me: Thanks Jaap you are doing a great job!! (dank je wel!)

Strangely enough I wasn't offended by the blanket email at all.. As Jaap states "he's got plenty of other FUN stuff to do" I am pretty sure that "fun stuff" does not include reading the whole forum to figure out who made a posting which doesn't comply with a forum rule and sending this person an email to kindly ask not to do this again (let alone continue do this for all the days to come!). So sending this blanket email makes perfect sense to address the problem once and for all!

Just my view on things... this is a great source of information and personally I would hate to see it go! so let's make sure Jaap has fun running this site!

and now back to V11... where to get leight weight wheels that are not made out of magnesium for instance!

  3. Hi Jasper,

The bst carbon is double the pvm price. I think you could have the made, I once informed, and then they said they would make a fitting wheel. But no cush drive.

G&B are sold out I heard. Site isn't updated in years.

A cush isn't simple to fit in an existing wheel. The forces around the hub aren't small, and you don't want something to fail there. Th braking price is nice, but depends on what it costs to have them made ready.

Thanks Paul and all the others....

Carbon might not be the way to go than just for pricing..

    Just another thought I was having: as the general opinion would be that the weight of the front wheel makes the difference;

it could make sense to go with a light weight front wheel (Including discs etc) with a similair appereance to the rearwheel (as I prefer the looks of the more bulky 3 spoke anyway, works better with the mass of the bike imho) or is there something I am overlooking here? Does Brembo do forged similair styled wheels?

    Thanks

    Jasper

  4. I am interested in a set of light wheels to so add me in for a group buy!

I haven't been following the wheel threads obviously but:

G&B no longer sell their OZ wheels? (still advertised on their site!)

Those "braking" wheels and discs were very shall we say "elegantly" priced! what's envolved producing a cush drive for those? If we can offer a small production series with a group buy that might persuade them  ?

And are carbonfibre wheels no option (apart from the cushdrive challenges?)

    Cheers

  5. one that has it's front wheel broken, with no serious damage? I think there must be more wrong. My le mans had nothing wrong with it's wheel, but had it's frame bend.

that's what I reckon... I would be surprised if those forks are really good not to mention the frame!

@ Mark no dates yet but i would think it's the same weekend as last years?

    Jasper

  6. Is that your's nsS

I saw that one going up Mt tamborine a while back (At least one with all the red bits anyway) Was the first siting of a scura in the wild for me in oz!

5000 seems like an OK prisce depending on the "repairable" damage.

    Ciao

PS Mark are you going to the budgy ralley this year? I have plans to go there again! So lets hope it can work out this year!

  7. picked up the scura the other day! One of the washers of the remote reservoir started leaking which was the only problem. While she was there all the fluids were changed and we spend some time setting up the suspension. Turned out that the shop that I picked from the was an Ohlins dealer and the motorcycle suspension specialst for SE Queensland! The setup I had was pretty much right according to the expert. Changed static sag at the back to a mere 5mm which was roughly 2cm. If anything it turns in a bit quicker (does that make sense) but that could be due to all clean oil?

    anyway it's all good again!

    Cheers

  8. Well... I am not much of a cleaner, have the standard scura fender and never lubricate anything, sometimes have lotts of dust around and back in Holland lots of rain and all is still good. Let's hope this is going to stay this way as it is currentely getting the fluids replaced!

  9. Thanks for all the replies..

I checked out steve cramer they mostly do bicycles! The shops they got listed on their website are not exactely close to where I am so I asked and called around yesterday and got a shop that seems reliable enough.. I'll drive the 15 km's over there tomorrow (good roads etc)

And now the big dangerous question: After reading all the posts on scura rearshocks with wrong springs should I take this oppurtunity to change the spring! I am about 80 kg (176 lbs) and never really spent much time sorting out the suspension (I know a waste of all that nice bling, but what can i say no issues with the ride!) So should I go for a heavier spring and improve the suspension a bit or just leave it alone and life happily ever after? I had all the settings pretty much standard which equatted to a pretty good ride if that helps the evaluation.

    Any input is welcome! :food:

    Cheers Jasper :nl:

  10. Good morning,

    Last weekend had a beatifull ride! my grilfriend on the multistrada trying to keep up ;-) in the lovely gold coast hinterland! a great variety of corners, tight technical stuff and nice long sweepers to keep the adrenaline flowing! it started out as a breakfast ride but ended up being a full day of riding. Had a great time parked the bike and had a last loving look over my shoulder wishing her goodnight thinking what a great bike it was just to see a slight puddle underneath her;

it seems that the remote reservoir from the Ohlins rearsuspension is leaking from the point were the hose is joining the actual unit covering the swingarm and most of the brakedisc with some nice oil!

    * any experience with this particulair problem?

    * Does anybody know a good workshop for OHlins in the Brisbane area

    * Would it be alright for me to ride the bike to the shop or am i better of taking just the shock to the shop?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

  11. Hello guys,

I have sucesfully imported my Scura into OZ (firstly from Germany into Holland but that's a different story). I'll start of with saying it isn't a lott of fun:

If I recall corecttly this is what needs doing (for QLD anyay)

Get an import approval from DOTARS: and this is where it gets tricky! It was easy for me since I owned the bike for an extended period of time. But I seem to recall there is an option to import "rare" vehicles that are hard to obtain in OZ. The scura is rare enough not to be listed on QLD transport registers my scura is listed as a Cafe sport now.. so that might be an option.

At that point you can start importing: you need your import approval and a taxation (red book or similair or an official valuer) in order to pay your import duty/gst etc.

after that the real fun starts getting your bike now needs to confirm to australian standards... I literally spend hours on the phone trying to sort this out: in the end some helpfull soul send a sticker off (apparantely far from the correct procedure) I got a safety certificate, without the sticker on it without a new lens, and other bits and pieces went to queensland transport and got my plates! this whole process took a lott of patience/time dealing with STUPID people (all the procedures can be found on the internet but none of the employees seem to know what to do)

Importing a bike isn't a lott of fun and is also a expensive business a couple of ballpark figures:

Transport (I did my two bikes in a container with my other household goods which ended up being cheap)

just the bike $1500 at least

Import broker will take $ 200

Tax/GST depending on the value my scura got vallued at $10000 so that was $1000

various bits and pieces permits, etc $ 500

So in short you won't make any money of it! having a written of frame would definitely be an option that would make life easier!

    Good luck!

    Jasper

  12. I like Martin's ambassador idea the best. We could start with it in January in Australia (they have good weather over there) if a distance between members is too far we could use mail. The Frapper location map could be very useful!

Any volunteers to set up this scheme? And what should we use as an object?

Yeah! I am with you Jaap (I don't think i'll make it to Limburg this year!) I would love to make some km's for this good cause! I'd better update the Frapper thing. With some luck the scura will be ready to roll by the end of the week! For the ambossador... hmmm the Olympics got there fire, which I don't think is a good plan on a Motorcycle... A sparkplug is a bit off the equivalent for the olympic fire a round the world sparkplug seems very appropiate :drink: to me.

I have just started a new job so I don't have tons of time to spare to help set this up (or better my time is a bit irregular with shifts and all that) But i am more than willing to spend some time on it!

    Ciao

    jasper :cheese:

  13. Sorry to hear about your clutch Mark! Good luck with sourcing parts and the repairs!

Bla bla I would assume fitting to the Scura wouldn't be a problem.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Yep thats' not problem my scura (#401, which was previously owned by Paul and is arriving in Australia as we speek) has the 2 plate no problems...

    Ciao
