  1. Thanks for all the responses! I guess it's time for a full brake overhaul...
  2. I inspected my front brake pads today, and discovered that one pad was significantly more worn that the other three. I was under the impression that the brakes would automatically distribute the braking force evenly.Does anyone know what might cause this? Thanks! Shawn
  3. If you hook it up to your electrical system, then the back light will be on all the time. Nice bluish color that looks pretty cool at night. I haven't had any problems with seeing it in the daytime. Yeah, installation is a piece of cake. And I love the fact that you can hook it up to any electrical source - AC, DC, 12 volt, 6 volt whatever! My moped barely generates 6 volts at full throttle, much less at idle. The Vapor has no problem with it. The back light just goes on and off as the voltage changes! Here's a photo of it mounted, so you can get a sense for how big it is:
  4. Here's a cheap computer with several functions, including tach and temperature. Tach works by wrapping a wire around the spark plug lead. Trail Tech Vapor $120. I have one on my moped.
  5. Thank you both for the excellent advice. I'll take the quickie approach first, and see how that goes. I wouldn't bother if it were a slow leak, but there is a puddle under my bike every time I go to ride! Thanks!
  6. Can anyone tell me what is causing this leak? Right in the center of the photo, you can see a slow leak from that round thingy in the middle of the photo. This looks to me like the back side of the gear box, behind the starter motor. (I've never had one of these apart, so I'm not sure what I'm looking at). This doesn't look like a simple gasket issue, so I don't know what approach to take. Thanks for any help you can offer! Shawn
  7. I got the HyperPro in red for $264 here: http://www.tobefast.com/detail.aspx?ID=643 It uses the stock mounting configuration. Works pretty well, but the mounting bracket has one of those floating bearings, and the stock mount on the forks has a similar floating bearing thingamajig. When you put the two together, it produces some play. Still working out the easiest way to get around that. But, it works.
  8. I'm sure Clauss at Clauss Studios would be willing to make these: http://www.claussstudios.com/id40.html I got some really nice suspension components from him for my Vespa and Lambretta.
  9. I will vouch for that. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that was the problem until I had already dismantled half of my bike. It was then that I noticed the lines embedded in the heat shield, which matched the ridges of the air filter. So I am happy with the performance of the FBF conversion, but now have to replace the heat shield with one that sticks. Oh, and the noise increase was not too noticeable...
