After 3 turns this Triumph was enjoynig the Guzzi melody but in the big straight line it was uncatchable :P

  2. Went for track day today. The LeMans was running very well! Returning back home I noticed that the Speedometer was not working. Obviously the speedo cable has been cut.

Where to find now? Does anyone has any in stock? Want to buy one. (Suppose those days all Italian stores are CLOSED)

  3. Hi!

Has anyone tried the Gilles Tooling clip ons, that can be adjusted according to height?

I am satisfied with the Woodcraft clip ons, but they have been mounted under the triple clamp. The handling is far better, and more enjoyable in the track, but tiring for cruising-traveling. Adjustable clip ons would be perfect!

  4. As with all Carb Sports I strongly advise taking the box out and inspecting it. replace the input and output shaft bearings with AC3's and replace 5th gear with the helically cut set off another bike. If any other of the gears are toast get another box, it's cheaper than trying to rebuild a Sport C box.

    Pete

Mine is the injection 1100 sport. Is there any difference Pete?

  5. I would buy the Griso 1200 8V Tenni, and after some years I would focus on the V11 LeMans (Rosso Corsa, with Ohlins to make you happy).

Then I would be the happiest man in Greece. (So I need a Griso Tenni :P )

To be the happiest man on earth, I need also a MkI LeMans and a MGS01 corsa (I suppose I have to start playing LOTTO)

    Hope I helped you

  6. Hi from hot Thessaloniki (37 Celcium degrees- oof)

I have noticed, riding my 1100 sport, that when reaching 160 km/h or more, with 5th gear, I sense vibrations that are periodical. In other words, these vibrations come and go with a 2-3 sec time space between them. I feel them all over the bike, from my feet, knees to my hands.

I have discussed this with an old friend (who also rides this model) and he told me that maybe the cause is a false bearing in the shaft or in the gear-box.

To exlude a gear-box related problem, I suppose, I have to test if these vibrations are produced also with the 4th gear. If yes, then maybe it means that it is not a gear-box related problem.

What are your thoughts? Maybe somewhere else on the bike?

  7. I wonder...

Does Piaggio want to sell GUZZIs to much more people?

Or is Piaggio satisfied, if GUZZI keeps selling only to those that they would buy a GUZZI, either way..

The answer will form the future plans...

  8. Mandello is a nice town, yes, but what you call a motorcycle factory is just a sad relict of maybe better years in the middle of the last century. Go there, the windows are broken, the roofs leak, the facilities stink and so on. There is nothing left but romantic memories. Memories of dreams we may have dreamed sometime.

Wether I like it or not (I surely don't), this is a true fact. On June and for 7 days I was in Mandello. We visited the Moto Guzzi factory as the Hellenic Moto Guzzi CLub and we were given a tour in the factory lines, the wind tunnel and the museum, by Mr Luigi, a 75 year old man, who was working in Mandello from 1947 till 1982 (afterwards he moved to Lanfraconi). To cut a long story short, I witnessed the glory of Moto Guzzi, but in the same time, this glory was "enveloped" in a factory that is so old..like a remnant. Whoever has walked IN the Factory, whoever has seen the picture from the "INSIDE", he could understand that this is not a situation that could ensure the healthy future of GUZZI.

I would prefer that the production stay in Mandello. COULD PIAGGIO really rennovate the factory and make it antagonistic? I wish It will be! Outside every door of the factory are signs indicating the renovative platforms that are planned to take place. This is encouraging....

    Time will show!

  9. raz, thank you!

I will check it as soon as possible.

If the led doesn't blink, or if the click is heard immediately, and if the problem is not the relay socket, which means that it an ECU fault, then what are my options?

P.S: I had mounted the electrical switch of the V11's side stand.

To check if the electrical switch was working properly I raised the stand and with my finger pressed the button of the switch. When I pressed the button I heard the "click" from the relays. The click was heard immediately. Does it mean something?

  10. One possibility is some internal fault in the ECU but let's hope that's not it. You should try the ECU diagnostics: The ECU will send some "morse code" blinks to the diagnostic LED. This might tell us some details but foremost it will tell us if the ECU is alive and kickin' or stone dead. Do I need a Diagnostic Tool for that? If yes, which one?

If you remove the power relay and just listen to the ECU relay, it should NOT click (release) immediately when you turn off power or use the emergency switch, but 15 seconds later. If it releases immediately, it's unfortunately an indication of a bad ECU. But there are other possibilities of course. Like a bad relay socket, that is not unusual. (suppose, this is a way to exclude a ECU problem, when not having a diagnostic tool?)

  11. First of all I would like to thank Slavek for his contribution.

As I was riding suddenly the motorbike stopped running. A more experienced friend of mine came over, and we started checking the bike. Turning the key to ON position I could not hear the Fuel Pump.

We connected with a wire the battery with the fuel pump (+ to +) and we heard the fuel pump working. So...the problem is not the pump. The pump seems to work but if I am right No Signal is sent to the pump, after I turn the key to ON position.

    1) we checked the relays. We changed position of all the relays. Nothing changed.

    2) As I was pressing the kill-switch button, I could hear this sound (tic-tac) from the relays, which showed me (if I am not wrong) that the relays, and the kill-switch DO work.

    3) I removed the + pole from the battery and repositioned it : No change

    4) then we checked the spark plugs. NO spark to the left, nor to the right spark plug. WhY?

    5) Checked the fuses. They seem right. I don't know yet if there is any problem (short circuit?) under the fusebox...

The only symptom I can remember (before the above incident) is that the last days the bike could not hold its idle steadily, and sometimes the engine stalled- if that could be related to this problem...?)

So: No signal to fuel pump,

No spark to both spark plugs.

    PLEASE HELP....

    Thank you

    Dimitris
