  1. I picked up all three pieces for the Tenni, which allowed me to remove the hugger completely. The swingarm is a nice piece and now its visible, cleans up the rear of the bike a lot. Protection from the elements is superior to just having the hugger in place. Highly recommended!

  2. When I bought the Rosso Mandello, my dealer, Judson Cycle Sales (the best!) included these with the purchase. The mounts look like they had been installed on a bike, but the bags are new - I think he had them in stock all this time.

All of the photos I've seen of the racks on V 11's show one plastic bit on the top rail only - I have a total of four, and am wondering if two are to be used per side, and how they are mounted. If anyone out there actually has the original written instructions for these racks, I would really appreciate it if they could be scanned and sent to me. Lake Como will part for you, and after you ride up the shore to Mandello, will close behind you, engulfing all of those pursuing Ducatis.

I'm a bit busy to post pix of mine but this might help: two plastic bits on each side. unscrew them and place one on each end of the top rail. orient them so you can adjust the screws with the bags on the bike. One goes in front of the bag, one behind to keep it from sliding fore and aft during riding. that's it. tighten them down when you have the bags where you want. hope that helps.

  3. Here is a link for a little known Penske shock option offered by Traxxion Dynamics... It forgoes the remote reservoir for a substantial cost savings. I have one on my Superhawk... it works great. I haven't felt the need to add a reservoir (and I have had it three years). But I don't do track days either. :) I haven't checked to confirm a MG application.

    This is what Traxxion sez...

This shock is the complete body assembly of an 8900 Series Penske Race Shock, but without the reservoir. It is spring preload, ride height, and rebound damping adjustable. At any time, the buyer can easily add either his/her choice of 8100 or 8700 reservoir should they decide to go racing or just want more performance. This shock comes equipped with the correct spring for your weight.

Here is the URL for the $599.95 Sport shock...

Now that is a smokin' deal. If I didn't already have a Penske with remote, I'd go for that one. I would venture to guess that 99.9 percent of street riders are not going to require the extra capacity of the reservoir. Good find!

  4. Great idea, wish I could be a part of the group buy but my Tenni came with a Penske. I must say the shock performs very well on the street and some limited track (not race) conditions. I don't know if you can get a group buy with Penske, and if the price is any better but its just a thought. Good luck.

  5. So glad to hear that Tom is on the mend, Van. There is not much to say that others haven't but I think the more people who think about what you are going through and wish Tom well the better. Hope to see you guys at the next National.

  6. Sold my S2R, finally bought the Rosso Mandello I've been lusting after for years. 2343 miles, looks like new. My last Guzzi was a V7 Sport (should have never let it go - in 1985) - I love this bike! It's an Unlimited Edition, which I have christened # 301. This Forum has been a fantastic source of info, but a few questions:

-Toolkit. None on my bike - I am assuming I'm not missing much, but aside from a cellphone and a VISA card, what do most people carry for tools?

-Rear tire size. My understanding was that this had a pre-Lemans small rim, so I would be looking at a 160 series - but my trusty tape shows 5 1/2 inches across the rim. Was the larger wheel stock on the RM, and is going from a 170 to a 180 wise?

-Relays. Mine have been swapped out for the new ones - should I still pack some spares?

-Clutch fluid change. I'm still trying to find the slave cylinder and a bleed bolt. The fluid is dark (original from 2001, I'm sure) - is this a pain to bleed, and are there instructions online?

Thanks for any help - I'm looking forward to a long relationship with this beauty.

Congrats on the new bike. The slave cylinder/bleeder is located in front of the rear wheel on the trans. I highly recommend a quality power bleeder ( like the one from Griot's garage). I don't know about tire sizes on that model, but mine had a 180 stock which works well for me.

  7. I'd like to see some ways to mount a gps on the Lemans models with clipons and fairing. While I own 4 gps units I have figured out a clean way to mount one on the LeMans without obstructing the other instruments. Is there a way to make use of the mirror mount threads near the fluid reservoirs, I wonder?

  8. Thanks, Todd! Erin and I had a total blast!

I had a great time too. It befuddles me to think that with such an enthusiastic group of folks we had a minimal showing in my view. I suspect everyone has a reason not to attend a rally, or even a track day-and they certainly shouldn't go unless it is within their heart to do so. But I think that when people verbally or otherwise commit to going and end up as no-shows, it puts a downer on the event to some extent. It also discourages people who would otherwise be willing in the future to take on the massive task of making it happen in the first place. Anyway I know that I had a great time meeting old and new friends, and particularly getting a chance to see what a Tenni can do on a track with a slow poke rider aboard. I even got to watch my brother hustle his loaded 1150RT around the asphalt. Thanks again Todd and the crew at Veloce. And in case any one will be going to the Oregon State rally in August, I'll see you there.

  9. ok I did search and the diablo stradas seem to win but I'd like to hear more about the Pirelli Scorpion Sync, does gravel well?

and durring the search you all talk about going to the 170 rear from the 180 but the specs I saw gave the 170 as stock rear. whats the best size? thx

I went with diablo stradas in 120 and 180 sizes last week for the Tenni. I took the bike to a track day and they stuck quite nicely, very predictable and stable at high speed. I then rode 1000 miles home with no appreciable wear. Me like. :sun:

  10. After the track day in conjunction with the National Rally in Malibu, I noticed that the intake manifold gasket on the left cylinder is leaking oil. I can't ride the bike home this way (about 900 miles) so I am hoping that a new intake manifold gasket will solve the problem. Any suggestions as to the cause and/or cure are appreciated. BTW the bike continues to run very well if that matters.

  11. Any suggestions would be wellcome,

I have an oil leak from the head cover joint to cylinder head on my 05 LeManns, Have decided to remove both head covers, check valve clearences and renew both gaskets. Any tips to remove the fairing would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

try to remove the fairing in one piece. same with reattachment. remove the lower two pieces and pull the black inner cover.if you can get to all the screws it should all come off intact. also remove the tank prior to the fairing. good luck.

  12. Sorry about the picture quality, its my cell at night. You'll need to rotate your head to see better too. You should be able to search under "edge" and get some results.

  13. A few months ago when I removed the wheel from the Tenni, I couldn't help but notice how slim and aesthetically pleasing the rear end of the bike became after removing the stock hugger. The swingarm and braces are quite nice pieces actually and being able to see more of the rear tire lightens up the look back there. So, I ordered the three available pieces from forum member Edge to fit on the bike. One covers the battery tray from road slop, the other the shock and the lower one covers, well..the rest.

I was kind of skeptical but you know these pieces really are effective at keeping the back end of the bike clean. They are pretty easy to install as long as you remove the wheel and battery tray. Really nice engineering and quality instructions. Anyhow it was a great bargain indeed and while this topic has been addressed before, it is something you might want to think about if the hugger bugs you as did mine. Nice job, Edge! :bier:

  14. thanks for the reply

bike will be running ok but then starts to fell like its running out of fuel and starts to miss/splutter when you try to accelerate untill it just wont pull at all

what i ended up doing today to get homew was to pull into slow lane pull clutch in and turn ign off, coast for count to 10 then turn back on and bike would run ok for about ten mins and i would have to do the same again

i was thinking that ecu was maybe resetting it self (if thats the term) and had some sort of default setting untill a senser or something changes something

i'm sure that some one has an answer for me (please!!!!!!! )

if it was the temp senser what would the symtoms likely to be???

Have you upgraded the relays yet?

  15. I noticed this on my bike (2004 LM) too right after I bought it used. After putting some miles on it the squeak stopped. Sounded like the clutch splines with some clutch debris in there.

Interesting...I tried to hear the noise on my last ride and could not get it to reappear. Don't know if it matters but your '04 has a different clutch than mine(single plate).

  16. I noticed today that as I let the clutch out from a stop, there is a squeal toward the end of the clutch lever travel. If it was a car I would guess throwout bearing. Any ideas? Of course this happens practically on the eve of the National. Should it need immediate repair it is unlikely I'll get the part(s) and get them installed in time. :(

  17. I bought one a week or so ago from MPH (site sponsor plug). About $173 with the new gaskets as I recall. I hope to get it installed in the next couple of weeks.

In the past this only happened to me once before. Accelerating briskly from a stop and the oil pressure light flickers on momentarily. Today it happened twice, once on the way in to work and once again on the way home. I didn't really gun it very hard either. When I got back home I pulled the dipstick and I was down about 1/2 quart so I topped her off with my good old Amsoil 20w50. The only other time this has happened was when the oil level was down 1/2 quart. I want some peace of mind so I'm lookin' for a sloppage sheet.
