  1. Yes Luhbo. I have checked all the connectors and even seen the TPS reading on the dealer's data anylser during tuning. At that time the tps reading is 3.2 degress and constant . Now it is inconsistent between 2.6 and 3.something.... How does a worn out tps behave then?
  2. Hi Guys Change to a set of new plugs . Bike starts but cannot idle. plugs are now wet. Checked the Tps sensor and it shows 39 degrees on my dealer's analyser. Adjust it back to 3.2 degrees as this equates to the millivolt measured at closed throttle with connecting rod and etc etc, . Now observed that the TPS reading varies between 3.2 and 2.6 degree which is not normal. Is my TPS screwd? Bike cannot idle and plugs are wet wet wet? Any ideas anyone? If my TPS is damaged where can I buy an alternative as where I am guzzis are fast becoming extinct like dinosaurs from the previous ice age. Anyway the V11 and sports 1100i runs similar pistons and compression for those members who asked.
  3. Hi Footguzzi/Luhbo My temp sensor is in the cam cover , I never like this plastic unit and was wondering is there an alternative I can change to. I will also check all the connectors etc, and other sensors. I thought it was the fuel pump because when I changed it on the Kawa turbo and adjusted the fuel pressure(it has an adjustable pressure regulator to highes than stock )higher it ran sooty as well.
  4. Hi Guys I am back after a couple of months with V11 pistons and cylinder blocks in my sports 1100i after they detonated itself due to insufficient run in or pre production defects. Anyway rode the bike today with the new pistons and it felt good, smooth and power able to rip tarmac. After 25 kms the bike developed a stumble and dies. It started again but seemed to be running on one cylinder. Took out the plugs and they are all sooty. What Gives??? Some clues as to what I had done extra apart from cylinder and piston changed, I swap the old pump for a new one without really knowing the pressure rating. Since this was used in my Kawasaki turbo I assumed it should work because it can pumped up to 48psi. Now the question....Can a stronger fuel pump caused the spark plugs to foul up even when on the highway??? I can see that the ports 1100i has a fuel return line to the tank so I assumed the pressure should not be a problem. If it is the fuel pressure causing this problem I can fix a fuel pressure regulator and adjust the pressure accordingly. However does anyone know the fuel pressure of the original sports 1100i fuel pump?
  5. Thanks guys for all your feedback Finally the open secret is in the damaged block and I have no bloody idea how the pistons and block was so badly damaged while everythign else look good including the left piston and block. Anyway it looks like the piston has shrunk and is a loose fit on the block. The engine block is cracked as well. Keep my fingers crossed and looking for pistons and block now. Anyone of you know whether I can use a 97 california engine block on my 97 sports 1100i. I believe they are the same but since I have not stripped the california I am only guessing. Any guzzi Gurus out there?
  6. Wow I thought I was an italian hardcore till I heard you.
  7. Spark plugs look sooty after siezure. The other side looks perfect. Why ony one cylinder affected I have no idea
  8. Remove the right and left cylinder block and the cylinder and block on the left looks perfect while the right one is damaged and block liner has cracked. Basically it has seized but cylinder still moving up and down. What happened? We have no idea at all. Can a intermittent fuel pump caused this although the left cylinder looks good. Anyway I have to do something and wonder wheher you guys know this ? I have a california block and will it fit the sports 1100i? If yes I will buy the high comp pistons from ferracci and just get on with it. Any idea whether the Will Creddon chip on this bike can be used with a full Termi system? While riding it felt good but who knows it could be rich or lean at critical rpms.
  9. Hubert I guess you are right to say that I should not say that guzzis cannot be ridden hard. Guess I am disappointed this has to happen to a fairly new engine and such things do not happen on any other bikes I have inclusive of Jap and Italian machines. Thats why I am asking is there such a thing as a poor quality cam produce in certain batches because i seriously doubt it is the oil.Or is there any other quality issues from the factory for this year model. Seriously as much as I love guzzis you cannot say they produce the most reliable bike of the lot.
  10. Yes the oil filter is still tight and the relief valve seems ok. Never did see any oil pressure warning light at all. Oil level is normal as per the dip stick and somewhere in between. As mentioned this is a very low mileage machine that has been well catered for. Anyway engine will be stripped I guess.
  11. Hi Guys Just an update on the bike. Removed the oil sump and found a little steel or aluminium grit in the oil. Not sure whether something is broken or worn or whether this is normal running in particles. Bit by bit the mystery deepens on what is the cause for a healthy engine having this problem. Oil is new and has only run about 200 kms. My mechanic says maybe using mineral oil is not suitable for this engine. I don't subscribed to this theory though and will keep you guys updated. Maybe this bike cannot be ridden that hard. does all this make sense ?If the cam is worn as what some of the guys mentioned I will look for the oil comapny that provided me the oil. To be fair i should not mentioned the brand now since everything is premilinary.
  12. Thnaks guys for the feedback. I was hoping it is something not so serious but based on the feedback it looks bad. If it is the cam how can it wears out at such a low mileage. Anyway the bike feels that it has not lost any performance when I rode it back with the loud metallic tapping sound. Is there a chain tensioner for the timing chain? If I do buy a replacement cam which one is the best to go for for fast road use? Similar specs to the standard or one that has more lift? I always thought these engines are reliable so how can this happen? I use good oil , warm up the bike throughly, and maintain the bike very well. The way it revs only seems that it is truly run in since I subscribe to the theory of running in for only a thousand kilometres. Anyway My copa italia with also 5000 kms has been ridden in the same manner and no problems at all.(till now that is) Oh i also forgot to mention that I am running a Will Creedon Chip and have a full termi exhaust system. I doubt it it pre iginition as mentioned by MoscowPhil. questions qustions question when I have so much problems.
  13. Hi ever helpful guzzi owners. Went for a ride on the weekend and push my sports 1100i as usual to 220km. Prior to this my fuel pump was intermittent and sometime the bike cannot start which is solved by a good whack on the pump. After this ride I noticed a loud tapping noise from my right cylinder . I took out the valve cover and noticed that the valve clearances are in order and even after closer inspection can find nothing wrong. Even did a compression test and found out that all is in order. I read elsewhere that the 97 sports 1100i can have a "soft cam" which can wear and I hope this does not happen to my bike. For goodness sake the mileage is only 1700km. The bike still starts idle and run normally except for a very loud tapping noise which seems to come from all over the bike but if listened carefully seeems to be from the right cylinder. My Mechanic is stumped as well. Any ideas what could be the problem and if it is in the cam how can I find this out without stripping the engine apart? If it is the cam where can I find a stronger one with all the cam followers sold together?
  14. Ok based on what I heard, Valve clearances to be checked. Checked throttle prosition again checked CO and RIDE ABOVE 3000RPM thanks guys will do all to see if it works and report accordingly. OH I forgot to mention I have a Will Creedon chip on my bike but I am sure this chip is good and is not causing this problem althoguh I have not ridden the bike with the original chip.
  15. Thanks Guys Already been playing with the air fuel mixture on the ecu and has already obtained the smoothest idle but problem is still there. Also using iridium plugs and as to valve clearance, bike is only 1500km. Ya my sports 1100i is fuel injection G stallons
  16. Hi Guys I hope some of you guys can help me with this problem I am having with my sports 1100i. The bike runs well except that at low rpm of 3000and lower it some stumble or has a hiccup on the engine while moving. My mechanic says it has to do with the ignition pulse pick up or flywheel sensor and is common among sports 1100i. Any idea whether this is true and is also affecting fellow Guzzi owners? 2or4strokes
  17. Hi Guys I have sorted out my problems but it is not as what we all thought . The problem is a bad contact on the connector of the throttle positon sensor. ater spraying some contact cleaner it works. I only found out this problem when i wanted to take out the fuel injector. Thanks for all the replies
  18. Thanks for the tip Callison. will try to see whether it works 2or4
  19. Hi Guzzi moto/Dan I think what happens is that the bike was knocked over when it was in a crate thats why oil was found in the collector box.Anyway Will still try to sort out all this mess over the weekend. Thanks for your help. will keep you guys updated
  20. Thanks Dan Will do what you advised . just to let you know the bike has lots of engine oil in the exhuast collector when I bought it I had since drained it and actually started it a month ago . It ran fine for about 40 km until I washed the bike and had water in the fuel tank because the tank seal seal is not sealing. Anyway I drained the tank changed the fuel filter, poured in new fuel, and since then it showed those symptoms I described.
  21. Hi guys could someone help me with this problem that I have on my sports 1100i. The right cylinder is not firing and the bike is running on one cylinder. The engine is almost brand new (40km)and had only recently been started as the bike is laid up for 5 years. I have changed the ecu, checked the coils, changed the plugs, change the ignition wires, and still the plug is fouling up. It appears there is a spark but it is not firing, No idea what to do to make this baby run. Can someone please enlighten me on what is wrong with this beauty.
