  1. Can't say I did /do. I removed the original ecu from the box and pins to reuse for the myECU and never went back. It's in a jiffy bag in the filing cabinet for posterity. Not sure how Razs location would affect the ecu - the sensors (temp & baro) should accommodate most differences unless you have some peculiar Ozzy atmospherics or sumfink . I did have to frig my map to get my baro to read the local airfield QNH but not sure just how picky the ecu is to d.p.. Enjoy.
  2. The Raz map is a good one - well it is for me. The 2 things he taught me (in this case) were a) set v/vs to "Raceco" (0.2mm in, 0.25mm oot) and set up the inj duration at idle "pretty rich" - I think it's somewhere in the region of 3500 µs. This seems to make the engine fall away due to richness (afr well down in the 12's) but it does stop the hiccups and stalling at lights for example. The tendency is to lean out to get the revs up but resist it if you can. My m/c now has non standard cans but that map version is definitely based around individual K&Ns (without the airbox) so that might explain the thirst. 1100 sports run better with a thirst - like a good collie dog - IMHO. For a non-nerd you seem to have it pretty well sorted! I haven't even looked at mpg over bits of the rpm but overall I get about 10.5 miles per ltr (16.8 kms/ltr?). With my original ecu I can't remember getting much more than 48 mpg on varying roads - what ever that is in new money. I must have the typical old "oilman" mentality. Book is 22kms/ltr. I take it you have the ecu and the doofers / doohinkies to talk to a laptop or something running the ecu control prog to see the maps and make changes? Gav
  3. Current mock up of projectors and trial possible carbon fibre infill. Still not sure of the aesthetics for the front end - wonder if they will fit in the air intakes now I have K&Ns fitted - things that make you go mmmm....
  4. There are a number of maps to chose from on Cliffs forum - tried any of them? I cobbled mine from Razs map and am now betwixt fettling clutch / remapping for carbon noisy straight through cans / playing with his android Optimiser app. It's all driving me toward large quantities of Old Pulteney!
  5. S'funny that - my ST1100 is a (German?) import and to change the headlight assembly would be expensive so I taped the area off and my sympathetic MOT tester wasn't blinded - all happy. Why bother change out if you don't drive at night? Once I get the projectors sorted out I'll let you see them - long term, back of the bench, at the moment. Great run today from home to Strathcarron over to Kintail, down to Invermoriston, Fort Augustus, then Inverness via the south side of Loch Ness and into my mums for coffee before a severe wild thrash home. 185 miles and boy do my hips know it!
  6. Neat analogy. I suppose what you are trying to prevent would determine how deep the cleansing program. Apols if my posts appear belligerent, I am genuinely interested in filtering and relative merits of different media and "larger than a small rock" was just a bit too er.. flippant for me. Have now searched the forum and seen your earlier postings the mention of K&N filters seems to hit a nerve so moving on.... Back to original posting by Pole bridge: Can't find my original receipt but based my purchase on the surface area of original 'flat' filter ÷ 2, the TB inlet dia, the available length for clearance. Some do have moulded offset flanges. Mine are plain. Seems like you'll get them for free from gstallons anyway if I read his post right. ;-)
  7. Could you share the bad results? Your argument is somewhat specious without data.
  8. I'm mildly curious what your notion of "small rock" grain size is and, whether you have some factual basis for this assertion. It seems fallacious IMHO. edit:- My 1100 sport i has K&N cylindrical filter elements of circa 50mm ID to suit TB inlet flange - seems to filter stuff like fine sand ~ 125µm, insect carapace and fall out from Eyjafjallajokull pretty well.
  9. Take some black insulation tape - you may have to mask the lens if it's a european version - a "nice" MOT tester will allow that.
  10. Thanks for the info. I had heard that the BMW C1 headlamp was the same. There is one for sale on ebay right now, however it does not have the same part number. It is hard to discern the full text from the picture, but it is something like "tri.o.m 2080..." I have to agree with your assessment: is indeed utter crap! If I can't resolve this problem, I might just remove it completeley and get a daylight MOT! I would hardly notice the difference as I only use the bike during the summer months. How about running the whole caboodle through a bandsaw to get the lens off the pathetic black plastic silvered bit then moulding a new piece to fit with better adjustment? Just a thought... new LHD ones are over £100 - scary, but then it is from Built Minus Wit.
  11. John - check out Jamies post here for some info:- http://www.motoguzzi...1100+sport+head and, from this posting:- http://realoem.com/b...621&hg=63&fg=05 I'll check the lens marking later and revert. My one suffered the adjusting tab breaking so I stuck on a metal bracket. I believe that they warp with the heat from the 60/55W bulb. Mine has a top surface (definitely dished) which no doubt throws alignment out. My problem though similar is more to do with a mod to the instruments which fouls the headlamp and prevents it "rotating up" at the back to give correct alignment. Presently looking at changing to projectors for the bike as, IMHO, the headlight is utter crap - in design and function.
  12. If your aren't aware of this forum http://cajinnovation...m/yabb0/YaBB.pl I suggest you repost there and have a read of the topics - it might answer some or all of your questions. You maybe likely to get more myECU users direct responses particular to your issues - I would hope. There are a few myECU users here too, obviously, who could chip in. There is a method to establish comms to a myECU windows app which involves serial interface via CAT 5 and a "magic" box (R232) which gives pretty easy mapping changes. There are upgrades which allow bluetooth to carry data and Cliff is presently working towards android as the base for mapping and logging which is not fully operational - at time of writing. Instructions for myECU units can be found on Cliffs website - click the logo on the forum to access.
  13. G.A.C.A.S.O.D* system Guzzi Automated Cervidae Anti Scare Override Device :-)
  14. Shame about that - I feel for you. 3 options? 1) Get OEM fixed - not sure who can do this but there is a posting somewhere about a fix - may not be the same as your issue - I'll see if I can find it and edit/post it here. 2) Get a replacement - I cannot recommend myECU highly enough. You may have some work to do however; if you don't have fingers like cows tits but do have a normal set of neurons you should manage it. 3) Buy a new / secondhand one one - if one is indeed available.
  15. I have carried out this mod and it's a breeze. Tomorrow I will test it as a cruise control. The fast idle seems to be more adjustable too.
  16. North Sea Tiger! Gggrrrrrr. I cant make it either Gary if that makes you feel better. Gavin
  17. I enjoyed this write up. Nice one.
  18. Can you not get it overhauled? Seems a cheaper option.
  19. If any of you johny foreigner chaps decide to come north to the Highlands after the Moniave do I would make a concerted effort to join up with you. Having "done" the Cromarty rally the last 2 years I find work precludes anything that weekend however I am on leave on Tuesday following and up for a gad about the glens up here - maybe even provide space for a tent or two chez moi. I note my MGCGB handle is mentioned in the Gamba - this is a mistrake - fire questions towards Haydn or Russell Clink (on MGCGB forum) for info. Haydns video at Crom on the website for the rally just brought back what I'll be missing. Mind you - not organising it means more time to fettle Sporti. have/care/fun/take g
  20. Foo foo crap? This sort of detail puts >me
  21. Anyway - to the original question - yes. The present Guzzi styling just isn't. What's this nonsense of a V twin with the exhausts on one side? I mean to say V TWIN = separate exhausts. Is Piaggios aim to have us ride them side saddle or something? Its all gone a bit gay of late.
