  1. Sounds like bad charging. Maybe the regulator, or maybe something after it. 30A charging fuse? Measure voltage at battery with engine running. On idle it should be at least some 13 volts. Off idle it should soon go past 14 volts.

Thanks for that. Will leave battery on charge overnight and see if it will start in morning.Don't know how old battery is (had bike 18 months)but it a genuine MG $NZ300 price still on it. Any suggestions on a replacement?

  2. Just been for half a ride. Got about 80 ks from home and stopped at a petrol station to get some thing to drink.Went to start bike again and it wouldn't start. Just made clicking noise. Tried many times. After checking fuses, relaying spark plugs caps got help push starting it and got it going. Got 300-400 metres down road and bike started running rough like it was only running on 1 cylinder. Turned around and got half way back to petrol station before it died. Pushed back to petrol station and rang wife to bring trailer. Home now.Checked battery not flat but not good. Put on charge.I had just replaced two relays(the last of the Guzzi ones)and put in 2 new spark plugs.Bike started easily before ride.Had been differcult to start before new spark plugs 4 - 5 tries to get going.Just remembered that Rev counter wasn't working during ride.It normally does.

    Any ideas what problem?

  3. Just had a new Tyre fitted to my Rosso Mandello. The tyre it replaced was a 170/55 Pirelli Diablo Strada. Manual specifies a 180/55 for a 5.5 inch rim

Guys at bike shop measured rim. Its a 4.5 inch as on rim. They recommended a 170/55.Did RM come with a 4.5 inch? Rim is a MG. Fitted a Metzler 170/55 Roadtec Z6. Seems fine steering is faster. Front is a Pirelli Diablo Strada120/70 3.5 inch. Is the manual wrong? Just puzzled thats all. :race:

  4. Gotta give the mouse wheel a workout and scroll about two thirds the way down the page. In the "Maintenance" section under the sub heading "-Spine-" or just CLICK HERE

Your link is to a photo of a Ducati Senna!

Havnt been able to find a RM manual will have to make do with the one of this old tractor

  5. What are the two nozzles on the underneath the petrol tank of my Rosso Mandello? You can blow tru them from both ends but they dont leak petrol! Should they have drain tubes attached?I started bike up ths afternoon and found petrol leaking out. The seals around these nozzles had perished. Ive replaced by cutting out some old tyre tube but not sure how long that will last.

  6. I have a V11 Rosso Mandello thats missing the badges below the ignition switch and on footrest hangers. They are a alumnuim colour with Moto Guzzi Eagle. Can anyone help where I can get these. If a original Guzzi part whats the part number.

Suns out rains stopped off for a ride.

  7. Despite me not seeing eye to eye with Bernd on a lot of things I would get in touch if I thought there ws a real threat. As it stands I have friends in Healsville and although they have been under heavy ember attack the town is still, as of now, secure. I thought it best not to tie up probably crammed communication lines at this time but I'll give the bloke a ring when things settle down a bit.

FWIW the Vic. Government is expecting the death toll to exceed 300......

    Pete

Thanks for that Pete I got stuff ordered but in view of what is going on its prioity will be way done the list. I was more concerned if they had sustained any damage.

    Thanks

  8. Have Stein Dinse Australia been affected by the fires in Victoria Australia?

Ive found mentioned on the Internet that the town they are based in,Healesville, had to have their zoo evacuted. So presume fires are near there.I rang them yesterday but there was no reply.

    Does any one know anything?

  9. Actually Pyro Dan sells the switches too: http://www.dpguzzi.com/switch.htm and it's five bucks including shipping. This one is waterproof and dustproof sealed.

But before buying one: do you here the click sound when activating the lever? If not, it may just be a little dislocated. Just loosening the screws a little, I could adjust mine.

The switch button is pushed in when the handle is NOT pulled. That's not what comes first to mind (but completely logical on a second thought). This means when you adjust the physical location of the switch, it should be pushed in just as the handle is fully out. The distinct click sound makes it an easy task.

It makes click sound when activating lever and switch has continuity when I test with meter (With handle pulled in) Will price new switch and check connections past switch

    Thanks

  10. Your fuel pump/injector relay may have failed. Try swapping a few and see if the fuel pump comes back. I believe the rearmost relay is for the fuel pump and injectors, but I'm not positive. If this is your problem, and maybe even if it isn't, it's a good idea to replace all of the factory relays with something more reliable from one of the two vendors below if you haven't done so already.

    http://www.dpguzzi.com/relay.htm

    http://www.motratech.com/MGR-C20.html

Lots of folks here including me use the ones from dpguzzi without any problems, but the motratech relays are supposed to be even more reliable.

Got local Auto Electric Supply company to test relay. They said it was ok. Got a new one anyway. Plugged old one in bike didnt start. Plugged new one in bike started first time.Go Figure.Relay cost $NZ13 (About $US6) Will now replace other relays. Are they all the same? Many thanks for your help.

  11. Ive got a 2001 Rosso Mandello V11 that wont start. It turns over but wont fire. When you turn key on it doesnt make normal wereing sound from under tank. It has ocasionally been hard to start lately. Only other problem is front brake switch doesnt activate back brake light. does any one have any ideas what problem is?

  12. Im have a 2001 RMD that is leaking petrol from the right hand side of the tank. I think its from the thing that helps control the pressure in the fuel injection. Its only leaking a small amount of petrol . Ive tried tightening the screws that hold it to the tank but no success. Should I change the seal between the device and tank. Does anyone have any ideas?

  13. Unexposed carbon will last longer as UVlight eventually !@#$s it. As it was orginally used on race bike and race bikes typically don't last a season it doesn't matter so much. There is a company called Ardrox which does a composite materials paint stripper, won't be cheap though.

Thanks for the information I will see if available in New Zealand and how much.

  14. Have just purchased a 2001 Rosso Mandello V11. Previous owner has painted front guard and fairing red in an attempt to match existing paintwork. The guard and fairing appear to be carbon fibre (as the should be with this model). How do you remove the paint and still leave a good finish? Why whats the point in having carbon fibre if you cant see it? <_>
