Logging Has anyone mastered logging via HyperTerminal yet? The manual that comes with the Innovate Motorsports LC-1 wideband O2 sensor for their Logworks3 software looks amazing. I have sent an email to Cliff and later the manual for Logworks, asking if MyECU can/could interface as it appears brilliant. If anyone wants a copy of the manual - send me an email punch@bigpond.net.au. It uses the same com port as MyECU, so there may be a chance. I have the inclination but not the time or knowledge.

    The MyECU thread

As per last post - new to MyECU. I assembled it in January and tried it out and it was hard to start and ran like a pig! Had a big trip to Philip Island for WSBK then catch up on work so did little. being of a technical background I decided that if you can measure something, you know what to change, so I bought an Innovate Motorsport LC-1 This was my best decision (after MyECU) Ran the bike with the original ECU and measured AFR - mostly 10 to 11, far too rich, but it goes well. Put in My15M with Cliff's V11 Breva map - same AFR. Used global adjust from 1101 rpm to max to lean off by 10% as a starter. Ran well but hard to start even after seriously reducing injector duration at 1100 rpm. Had an email from Greenmonster regarding TDCwhilecranking - did as GM recommended and set it to 0 (fire from map, not TDC) - it starts like a dream - thankyou!!! Next step - read some info on tuneboy.com.au about AFR settings via their software. Did Excel calcs to work out target voltages for AFRs from 12.8 to 13.5, modified the target voltages in the text file to suit this narrow range of voltages/AFR, then set the O2 flags in the text file to match tuneboy starting targets. Set the ECU to closed loop - starts and runs like a dream again, in comparison to the orginal ECU and the starting Breva map. Next step is to log how much correction the ECU has to apply to meet AFR targets the adjust injectors durations so the "base" map is close to my set AFR targets. Some functional/practical mods. I drilled 2 holes in the bottom of the ECU case. I cut a LAN cable, poked it through one hole, snapped off the RJ45 socket and soldered the wires to the pins left from the snapped off connector. The other end sits under my seat for connection later to when i work out how to log. The other hole has a 2 wire cable that connects to the SW1 pins. I set SW1 to open, then the other end of the cable has a socket. I modified the plug for this socket so it was a short circuit. Result is - plug in means SW1 closed, plug out means SW1 open. This means I can switch quickly from open to closed loop without having to lift the tank and open the ECU case. Keep you posted! Rchard

I am relatively new to actually using My15M as i finally put it in a few days ago. I have a tech background and prefer to read and understand before leaping in. People need to understand what maps are about and what each sector does. The attachment is a rough of bits downloaded from Sigma Performance fom the UK which makes sense to me. I.e. what happens where and even in sectors you thought did not apply. That is - we also slow down some times so high rev, low throttle positions have an impact. I will post my experience/approach separately. Richard Sigma_map_zones.pdf

This is not exactly MyECU, but is related for those that step beyond. Just bought an Innovate Motorsport LC-1 wideband O2 sensor plus other bits in a kit. Software is amazing and maybe you should consider even higher spec gear from them to log more bits in your bike. If you buy one, check your exhaust pipe material before ordering. My kit came with a mild steel bung for welding to the pipe, but my pipes are stainless, so the mild steel would need TIG welding and the bung will rust. Therefore, if you need to, order a SS bung at the same time. Another note, find a decent welding guy. fortuately I have a client who specialises in SS fabrication. The Innovate SS bung is a machinable grade and during welding, the fillet is tricky to get right if you do not know what you are doing. Apparently due to where the heat is in the TIG welding process - 66% in the metal to be welded by TIG, as opposed to 33% when using MIG. As a side note, i ran the bike in the garage with the Ducati performance ECU to have a look at the software - astounding rich (AFR of 10 or so) when twisting to WOT rapidly and that is with the airbox lid cut out. Mmmmm - looks like lots of sleepless nights ahead. Cliff lives about an hour from me and has kindly offered to help get a Duc map in place. Will keep you informed. Richard

    The MyECU thread

Hi all - this is my first post - love your work! I have read it over and over. I now have a My15M, self build option. Two confessions to start with .. 1 It is not in a MG, but a Duc 900SSie, but hey I am only twisted by 90 degrees. A good friend has a Rossa and will try out My15M ..... so am I excused? 2 I am an Excel addict, hence this post to give back something to this forum. Since starting the My15M self build option, fun in itself, but have learnt a lot by reading this and that, Cliff's web pages and massive input from "Greenmonster" so I now understand enough to not have to use the manual in its various forms! Once it all clicks into place it is very functional and easy to use. I have done one thing that may help you and others. I found text editing to be cumbersome, so I did a workbook that allowed me to use text copied from the ecu file into an Excel spreadsheet, then convert each part of the map (array) to individual cells, then modify entries in any cell, then have a final spreadsheet that allowed me to copy all the mods back as text. The workbook is set up in 3 main sheets. Step 1 is the sheet where you paste the text from the ecu file. Step 2 is the sheet where you modify the map cell by cell, then step 3 is the sheet that has converted step 2 back to text for copying and pasting to a text file. I have put some instructions on each sheet, so hopefully this will make life easier for all. I have protected some sheets only so the important bits do not get stuffed up. There is no password, so just go Tools, Protection, unprotect sheet, then you are in and can expand on the functionality as you see fit. E.g. write notes to yourself on why and what happened etc. Feel free to share it with whoever you want. Thanks for your unknowing brilliant assistance. This site does not allow me to upload an Excel file, so send me a pm and I will send the file. Better still, if someone can tell me how to put the file onto one of my web pages via frontPage 2002, I will gladly set up a new page for MyECU with a button to get the file. Richard
