1. Doc,

Did you try a dealer? I think they run about 48US each, and are a high consumption item, so they shouod be out there.

    A couple threads here may help;

    Rich Maund Rubber Peg conversion;

    Buell foot peg conversion thread;

    good luck,

P.S. Thanks for the fairing return. made it in fine shape

  2. I'll be sure to pass that on.  Here is a picture from our trip a couple of weeks ago, noticing where you are from, you should recognize the place.  We had to stop there and get a spare pair of gloves.  Nice folks ther at the HD dealer.

5 Minutes down the road from me... Had I known you were passing through, would have given you a couple hundred miles (South or North bound)... Maybe next time... :bike:

That HD stealership used to be my Buell parts source until they lost the line this year. The still can get the parts but I don't drool like I used too :D

    ride safe...

  3. Now she has her sites set for flying lessons and utlimately helicopter pilots license.

"Fly Army" Unless she is wealthy and is doing it for the hobby, might have her look into the military to get the training that she will need (while getting paid) IMHO. :D

Not recruiting but can give her the B/L in the helo world if needed.

  4. i centered myself on top of the line and it unsettled the bike big time

Keep in mind that paint also marks the tarmac "seem" between the lanes. That has got to be the worse line to run at a buck something on any two wheeled machine. Yall' be carefull now...

  5. I think I spotted a Norge prototype last month. It was a bit more old school then the scanned images that are circulating but I could see some of the design similarities (v90, 2 cylinder, etc...). This one appeared to be configured as the family truckster model to address the common complaint from most v-11 riders that there was not a good bag system to carry all that "stuff" than needs to be hauled.

P.S. All kidding aside, I had a good chat with the pilot of this goose at NEMG rally last month, and my hat's off to him for his resourcefulness, and keeping the mark alive on limited resources :drink: Note: He does have plans to down-size the attached electrically trimmed aluminum boat to improve handling a bit. I wish him luck and hope to see him at next years rally :luigi:

  6. The custom map I had before did not inspire me as this has.

    65629

Did you have a custom dyno derived map done on your original PC-III by the same shop or was it a downloaded modification "mached" map to your configuration?

Interesting that the USB version made that much difference due to individual cylinder mapping and double the data points. Not doubting, just questioning my path of getting my serial PC-III dialed in this spring... :huh2:

  7. Hello:

I am in Buffalo, NY, and new to Moto Guzzi's (always rode BMW's).  I am interested in a MG-V11 Sport, but have never seen one, sat on one, Felt one run, ridden one, etc.  Is there any one in Buffalo, NY with on eof these bikes who would not mind me coming to see it?  Or, I will be in Lake Placid this weekend if anyone from that area reads this...

Any comparisons in terms of riding position and riding experience to a BMW R1100S or R1150R would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I live a hour north of Syracuse just south of Watertown (Rodman) It could be on your way to Lake Placid if you take 81 to 3.. Be glad to toss you the keys of a 02 Lemans.... As long as you not too rough on her (she's getting new tires for Christmas!)

PM me if you want to work something out, :race:

re. Riding position; difficult to say for all v11s but I think it is safe to say, the V-11 Sports/Lemans are certainly not as relaxed as a R1150R and a bit closer to the R1100S. Balabio, Copa Italia and other Nekid styles with handle bars are closer to the R. All have same foot location which is a little higher and tucked than the Bemmers. Some models have Olin suspensions and other Marz-Sach/White Power set ups. Some compain about passenger tighness of the v-11 too. There are limitted after market solutions but there are work arounds for most complaints (bars, pegs, pillion). Not all are perfect but there are plenty of very happy v-11 riders. I think the heart and bluntness of an air-cooled liter V twin still exist in the guzzi vs. the very refined Bmr. There are several former and current BMW riders here that will probably pile on and better answer some of your questions.

p.s. There is a Guzzi group in Rochester that I can put you in touch with if you want to check them out there too. If you take 90 to Utica Rome before taking 12 north to Placid, there is a dealer there that might have a couple left on the floor (he was selling them off on eBay??).

  8. I like the style of the stock head gaurds but would like to polish them. Does anyone know what they are made of (aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron)?

    64779

The gaurds are Aluminum and I had mine polished last year, they still look great IMO, and the upkeep is no more than the original. I just keep them wiped clean of bugs, water, oil, etc..

  9. I recently dropped (violently) the LeMans on it's left side. This weekend I noticed the windshield is moved to the right. Is the fairing stay that holds the mirror prone to bending? And does anyone have an idea what a replacement might cost. How about a left clip on price if you have any idea. This little accident is getting more and more expensive.

    Thanks,

    Darryl

IMO you will definatly need to remover the left, right and center fairing bits to see what was tweeked on the fairing support structure. If your going to "bend it back", it will take quite a bit of fource that you cannot apply with the fairing on. The support is pretty tough and may have to be removed completely to straigten at a shop that can hold it while being tweeked back.

Once the fairing is off, you should be able to take some measurments of fairing support with relation to the frame of the bike to ensure it is either true or munched. Removing the fairing will also allow you to see any additional damage you may have done with the drop. By your question, I assume you have bent your left clip-on and with that kind of force, a closer look at the damper and steering stops is in order at the very least :huh2:

  10. Yeah the 80's was the decade of the chick band, but also brought us Romeo Void.

  11. ....3 days in the Adirondacks next week end..!!!!

    63612

Let me know your travel plans and I'll try to sync up with you while your in the Adirondaks. Not many riding weekends left in that part of the ountry

  12. Gil,

Personally, I find the left side mount easier for me. With the handle facing aft I slide it under the bike setting the left hand nut head in the stand first and pivoting the stand up until the right side nut sets in the stand. When I have both nuts set in the stand, I apply downward pressure to the handle while simultaneously apply right pressure to the bike (holding the left handle bar) as it comes off the kick stand to the vertical position. Once it's vertical and the paddock stand is providing most of the support, I eyeball the right side ensure the nut is still seated, and finish the down stroke of the handle. Using this technique, when first setting the stand, the bar does contact the bottom of the exhaust pipe but nothing that leaves a mark or damage.

I too have had my bike decide to do a standing dismount and it happened when I was removing the rear wheel with the bike on the front oil pan "spindle" that is provided to lift the front wheel. Too much of my lateral force removing a stubborn axel and lack of a good tire plant in the front for stability and she twisted off costing me a right break pedal. I have since regained full trust in the stand and also fully respect its limits. I am very careful when applying any lateral force to anything on the bike, especially when removing tires, forks, etc...

You mention removing "one or both wheels” with this stand. I personally would not remove both wheels due to the shift in CG and the close-in three points of contact of the stand; it will not tolerate much lateral force. I have also used an overhead safety strap when dropping the triple tree or doing major rear work just for the added insurance that if it ever did another dismount, it wasn't going far or it's not going to fall on anybody :huh2:

  13. A recent trip the the Harley dealer in Charlotte revealed that they have dropped the Buell line completely.  Is this happening across the country??

    Joe

    61618

It happened here in Watertown NY (up-state NY) too a couple of months ago. The HD dealership (Iron Block) lost the line due to the poor sales figures. The sales person that I spoke to about was tight lipped about why they no longer carry the line but I got the impression that it was not their doing and Buell took it away because of lack of sales relative to HD sales... It was very strange to see all the Buell badging go away after 3 years of coexistence. :huh2:

  14. Already asked this on another thread, but where can I quickly get hold of a Racecraft spring so that my dealer and I can campare it with the original, and possible get a professional engineers' assesment too.

    61436

I had "Bonnie" ship me one and had it in two days (states). I don't know if she will send to NSW... Is this something you want one of us US types to do for you??

Shouldn't be too bad if it goes regular Air. Let me know, if you need help on this.

    :mg:

  15. Anyone know this dealer?

    61259

I spoke with the owner(?) for about an hour early this summer. I think he is a former Army Ranger instructor from Alaska and apears to be running a shop that specializes in two of his passions; Kyaking and out-door adventure gear and Italian Motorcycles (must be nice). He didn't have a lot of Gguzzi-Aprilla stock but looked like it was working at a low end sort of way. There was more white-water types in the store during the short time I there. Not sure about the maintenace end of things either. I think he has an assembler and someone that can do warranty work and basic tuning. The owner's focus while I was there apeared to be more dialed into what was earning his living... boats and gear..

He did give me a free Guzzi sticker and spent some time chatting V11s

  16. I’ve got the “drawings” on my PC at work (they’re actually CAD files) so I’ll get the info converted into a word doc that I can email to you on Monday/Tuesday.

    61155

I'd like a copy too. I think they are great the way they are. Where did you get the pegs if you remember?

  17. I'm ordering a heated vest and a set of heated grips asap.  Any recommendations from someone who has experience with these things?

    Thanks

    Lemuel

I bought these last year and a I am very happy. In fact, I used them for about 6 hours today on my 600 miler to the NE MG rally and back. They have high low setting, are balaced, and do not pull much at all from the battery. When I installed mine I installed a nice set of gel grips too and am happy with both. Not sure where I bought or what I payed but these are the ones:
