  1. Do you mean inside the rim? I think that you posted before that the nut on the stem (out of the rim) had disappeared. The only explanation (if your valve cap was still in place, as mine was) is that the nut split (or someone removed it and put the cap back on) and so the valve dropped inside. If this retaining nut is gone, it doesn't matter what is inside the rim. When mine disappeared, there was some evidence of corrosion left on the stem. If human error was to blame, then I think that the tyre would have deflated same day, not a long time after.
  2. BTW, is your Scura No 498, as per your title? Was your's sold/described as a 2003 model, as per your title? I wonder where you got it? Mine is No 497 and was bought in England, October 2003. When I first enquired at the dealer, by phone, there were 2 Scuras. I suppose that the other one might possibly have been 496 or 498.
  3. Not just the haggis: the haggis and JRT, or so it seems. I see you haven't voted for no.5, Martin. Very cunning. Very cunning indeed. Lull him into a false sense of security...and then...
  4. Not if Anto gets it first You walked into that one, JR
  5. Dealer X in Y has big socks. Fact.
  6. no, not so much removing and pulling
  7. Antonio seems to be committed to the trip. And what a trip it's likely to be. He could be committed before it's over.
  8. Back in the old days, when this topic was raging, there were reports of some multiple spring failures. Maybe because there was still a mismatch in sizes of boss and spring coil (can't remember). Mine worked fine with old spring and filed-down boss and then since replacing with a new arm of correct size it has done many more miles than had been covered at the time when spring first broke.
  9. :!: etc Did it come as a 'repair kit' with a new spring? Seems like it didn't, but if it did, what size is the new spring coil? I think you're doing the right thing, reducing the boss size, anyway.
  10. Glad to hear that the rest of you have no friends either, apart from GuzzBun who has an imaginary friend.
  11. I still insist that you can get cheaper mug stands that are just as good. Here's a nice v-twin model
  12. "That the birds of worry and care fly around our heads - this we cannot change. That they make their guano on our Guzzi - this we can't prevent." Belfast proverb
  13. either that, or you'd have to kill me?
  14. Probably what's happening with mine. Vibration increased hugely when I put on Stucchi & straight through pipes. As you say, it's actually pretty nasty when riding. Bike feels like it's beating itself up. So I need to get a Carbtune?
  15. What do you want done with the bike anyway?
  16. Er yes. This is an Italian joke. Didn't know nuffin bout Moto Guzzi. Had one Breva 750 for a couple of years that they couldn't sell. How do Guzzi select clampet dealers? The enterprise is shut down now anyway. There is no dealer in NI. The other place that used to be a GUZZI dealer, before Extreme took it over, still has an original green meanie V.11 on the showroom floor that he can't shift. Has reduced the price from £8k+ (joke) to £6,200 (splutter: ahem, I don't think so).
  17. Where is the road from Newcastle to Spaen Bridge? Why?
  18. "We are living in an age in which the ground is shifting and the foundations are shaking. I cannot answer for other times and places. Perhaps it has always been so. We know it is true today." Laing, R.D. The Politics of Experience and The Bird of Paradise. London: Penguin Books Ltd.
  19. Very odd indeed. Explain yourself man.
  20. The bike can also be raised with an ordinary rear paddock stand, or use a trolley jack / scissors jack / bottle jack and support it with axle stands. Lots of options and no need for great expense.

    Suck This

He should really be more clear & direct about the original, Cobra, inspiration. I suggest an amalgamation with your, inspirationaly related, name. Make it the 'Cobblers'.
  22. No dealer in Northern Ireland. The 'other big John' at the Erin Rally recommended taking the bike over to Colwyn Bay Motorcycles in North Wales .
  23. just seen that you'll be laid up for a while, so a video or two might be useful. PM a mail address if you want.
  24. Oh boy! All the best for that.
