  1. You guys just want me to haul your bacon and beer.....
  2. Well guys, I just had my follow up with the specialists and it looks like I'm in for six more weeks of physical therapy then another evaluation so I'm out for this year. I guess there's some irony in a back injury keeping me from the Spine Raid.....
  3. I'll bring the bungies! We already figured out how to get a full case of ale in the Tekno panniers . . . Panniers??? I'll just go old school and sit on the twelve pack.
  4. I don't know, the passenger pillion on a Sport 1100 or Daytona RS is pretty flat, a pizza might sit well back there.....
  5. Completely understand. But don't make too much of the second "S" in "SSR." Docc and others might pine for days of yore -- and I certainly miss my Ballabio -- but it's (almost) an all-brands thing. If docc disagrees, heck, he's a mod here and my post will just disappear! Kathi and I have been on the Norge for several of them, and I rode the Griso down last year ... well, most of the way, anyway, before I crashed. We'll likely do the Mini & Griso combo again this year. Best, Bill I was hoping I'd be back up and running by Sept. (back, shoulder, and neck injury at work in May) but PT is going slowly and I can't say for certain I'll be riding again before the Raid. I hate to make plans reservations etc. only to have them foiled in the end because I can't ride. That said my inaugural Raid may be in '15 but I'm going to wait until mid-August before making the final decision.
  6. What a circus. Glad to hear it worked out now enjoy that Goose!
  7. Does anyone have a photo of the stock air filter on a Daytona 1000? I'm curious what it looked like. Also, does anyone know if K&N makes an air filter in the stock filters dimensions? Here is a few photos of the set up I have going on under my tail section.
  8. Bill, That "cactus" looking thing would be a Joshua Tree and I'm about 25 miles east of Harrisburg. My mind says ride.....my body (wrists) say trailer. I've ridden the Sport 1100 from here to Norfolk, about 325 miles one way, down the Eastern Shore and across the Bay Bridge Tunnel with no problems but that was 10 years ago. Last year I rode the Daytona to the MD/DC rally and my wrists were barking. The mileage is approximate but it looks like you're about 160 miles from me and Tellico Plains is about 625 miles from me, both one way. As much as I want to enjoy the journey and not just the destination unless I come into a Stelvio or a Norge, which would defeat the purpose of the "SSR", a trip that far looks like it may be a trailering event for me. Perhaps I can take you up on your lodging offer for a long weekend touring northern VA. sometime.
  9. I've reached out to Marvic and Marchesini also, sent both of them multiple e-mails over several months during my search for wheels to do this project. Never heard back from either one of them. DAS Mototec and Ghezzi-Brian by contrast have both been on top of returning e-mails and answering my questions. At this point they seem to be the only two sources for the wheels I need for my project. *Note to self, stop buying low production motorcycles from quirky manufacturers.....just kidding, I can't stop!
  10. One of the other issues I have is that the GSX-R front end means that I needed to find a wheel manufacturer that makes a rear wheel to do the conversion with a matching wheel available for the GSX-R front end.
  11. I spoke to Brian a few months ago about his wheels. Here is his reply: "Hi, enclosed pls find my offer for a set of aluminium forged wheels for your Daytona: -set of wheels 5,50x17 and 3,50x17 5 spokes complete of: -rear hub -rear disc -rear caliper holder -spacers -2 front discs -color on your choice -shipping cost included For your info pls be informed we have special footpegs and exaust system to be fit on MotoGuzzi Daytona; enclosed pls find some pictures Yours Bruno"
  12. So I reached out to PVM and I received a response from DAS Mototec, here are the highlights. "we´ve got your inquiry from PVM. We are the dealer for Moto Guzzi wheels. We can deliver also wheels for the Daytona 1000 in the following designs: 5-Y, 10-Y, 7-Y-wheels and 6Sp-wheels. For the Daytona 1000 you can use the "classic" ones, They are available in 18" for the rear and in 17 " for the front wheel. But they are heavier than the other wheels and the 18" rear wheels is only up to 4,25". We suggest for the Daytona 17" wheels, because they are lighter and have a better handling than the 18". But the 17" rear wheels is minimum 5,5 " width. If you have any question don´t hesitate to ask. Best regards DÄS Mototec" I also asked them what it takes to do the 17" conversion and received this response: "all you need to convert to 17 inch wheels is in our kit included. Best regards DÄS Mototec" There are several PVMs that are pretty bad a** but I am partial to the 6 spoke model. http://www.pvm.de/en/wheels/
  13. Great looking machine! I've always been partial to the 1000 over the RS. A guy from Perth had a '96 Racing on eBay last Sept. with 12 miles on clock. Not sure if that one ever sold or not, the high bid was $12,610
  14. We're doing another ride on Nov. 9th, starting point is the Hess Station in Marysville PA at 10am. At this point it looks like we're going to have some decent weather for November, highs in the 50's. If anyone needs more details feel free to contact me.
  15. Weather permitting a few of us are thinking about doing a ride on Oct. 20th. Meeting spot would be in the Harrisburg area. Rides route would take us up through Perry County. So far we have a few V7's and the Daytona. Anyone else interested?
  16. I know it's not a MG but we tend to run in the same circles so perhaps those of us in the mid-Atlantic region can help this Ducati owner out and keep an eye out for his bike or the parts for sale. Some of the parts are unique and would not be hard to spot. On the off chance that the bike is not parted out it shouldn't be too hard to spot either even if it gets repainted. Feel free to repost on other social media, forums, etc. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/reader-ride-stolen-please-help-1053549200
  17. So are you running the stock rear wheel? Is your GSXR wheel the 3 spoke design?
  18. Anyone here converted their Daytona 1000 to a 17" rear wheel or know anyone that has? I am curious what a conversion would entail.
  19. Ultimate chase vehicle for Italian motorcycles and it is full of tools including an on board milling machine. http://bringatrailer.com/2013/06/30/tonys-ride-1966-fiat-furgone-mobile-workshop-httpwww-ebay-comitmfiat-furgone-workshop-1966-rare-261236664486ptautomobiles_ukhashitem3cd2eb28a6/
  20. I hear that a lot. Must be McGregor.....
  21. The trips were taken in 2004 and 2007 respectively. I caught a few episodes being replayed a year ago but have not seen it on TV since then which is why I just bit the bullet and purchased them. There are also a few coffee table books that compliment the DVD's. Here are a few links to check out. http://www.longwayround.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Way_Round http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Way_Down
