  1. Looks like my friend Tim will be coming to SSR '15 also. He will be riding his Ducati 1198S.
  2. Gentlemen, this stately ride will provide us with an opportunity to parade our vintage, cafe, bobbed, and unique motorcycles, and demonstrate our sense of understated style. If you are planning on attending, dust off your posh frocks, tune your vintage bike, and lets bring a little class and levity to Central PA. The date has been set (Sept. 27, 2015), the route and other details are in the works. We're looking at a 3ish hour tour with re-grouping points and a final stop for everyone to meet and socialize over the day's ride and our machines. 3. Flying Dog, that's good stuff. All their labels are done by Ralph Steadman who did the Hunter S. Thompson "Song of the Sausage Creature" art. Matter of fact they do a Gonzo Imperial Porter in honor of Thompson.
  4. Finally got myself in gear. Daytona wheels are at the powder coater and the new Michelin Pilot Road skins are in route. I wanted to soda blast the motor before the SSR but that's going to have to wait till winter since I still need to do the top end.
  5. 8 weeks out! I guess I need to get my ass in gear and get the Daytona back together.
  6. I'm not a big fan of their stuff but I did like the Abbey Triple.
  7. I may be in the Keystone State now but I hail from the Old Dominion. WTS!?! I'm more of James Ewell Brown guy myself.
  8. Reservation made! Now if I can just find a horn for the Daytona before September that plays "Dixie".....
  9. They don't call it Pennsyltucky for nothin'.....
  10. Yeah, Guzzis are often described as "bulletproof" but I think a 30mm depleted uranium round may do the job.
  11. Sunny and a high of 68 yesterday, go for a ride? Hmmm.....let me think about it, YES! I don't think I'll have too many more riding days like this in '14 so I headed north into coal country. Most of the bright colors are gone now but the foliage was still nice, just darker shades of red, yellow and orange. Stopped to check out a dam, didn't get any dam souvenirs but did take a few dam photos. No dam wildlife to be seen but the water was dam clear. On the return trip I cut through Ft. Indiantown Gap. There are great roads in and around FITG as it is an "open" installation however you need to be wary of the "Tank Crossing" signs. You also don't want to be wandering onto the ranges the A-10's use for their gun runs, that would be a bad day. When I fueled up in Lickdale at start of my ride I was about 5 miles west of FITG and I could hear and feel the impacts of something being fired.
  12. It is very windy here this morning so we decided that we'd postpone the ride to next Sunday, November 9th. To tolerate the colder weather is one thing but riding in high winds just sucks. Hopefully we'll get some better weather next weekend. As of right now the Weather Channel 10 day forecast is showing mid-50's on the 9th. Obviously the Ephrata Breakfast Ride was this weekend so we'll post a new meeting spot in the next day or two.
  13. Over the years I've become more of a brunch rider than a breakfast rider.
  14. Ephrata to Shamokin to Fort Indiantown Gap (North East of Harrisburg). Here is the route we plan to take from Ephrata to Shamokin (approx 1 hr 45 min): http://tinyurl.com/EphrataToShamokin We'll stop at the Turkey Hill store in Shamokin for b-room, fuel, drinks, snacks, etc. 125 is such a great road, that after that stop, I'd like to go back down it to Joliet, then take US209 W. through Tower City, and either take Gold Mine Rd. back down toward Harrisburg, or continue on US209 to Lyken, then S. on Glenn Park Rd. (nice and twisty) to Powels Valley Rd. to Hallifax. There is a Sheetz store in Halifax if anyone needs fuel, etc. From there, PA225 over Peter's Mountain back toward Harrisburg. There is a nice overlook at the top of Peter's Mountain if anyone wants a good photo-op. Shamokin to Fort Indiantown Gap via. Halifax (2 hours) http://tinyurl.com/ShamokinHalifaxFIG Or, if people want a shorter route, this one is 45min shorter, still includes 125, and then Gold Mine Rd. back to Fort Indiantown Gap. Shamokin to Fort Indiantown Gap via. 125 + 209 + Gold Mine Rd. (1 hr 15 min) http://tinyurl.com/Shamokin125GoldmineFIG By the time we get to Fort Indiantown Gap, it'll be getting late enough that we'll probably disperse from there.
