Quat D full system

Th termi system on my 1100 sport is looking a bit sad mainly due to a couple of gravity related incidents. No one in intrested in sell parts except the whole system and top dollar at that. Couple of US parts suppliers have the full Quat D system with Titanuim end cans on thier sites for a very reasnoble price, even better if the Aust dollar reaches parity (96cents ATM). Anyone seen these have any comments how they are made sound and more importantly will they fit a 1100 sport rather than the V11 gearbox clearance/engine offset could be the main issues.

Maybe just me, but I see some melted turn signals in your future.

 

OTOH, I've been running the Quat-D ex-box for several seasons -- and love it. Build quality is good -- customer service excellent.

You do realise that the V11 exhaust system has a larger diameter than the 1100 system....? I am not sure what difference this would make to the engine (my fluid dynamics didn't stretch to this), but as far as I can tell on the road, the 1100 has far more poke and has the same engine..... I'm sure someone will correct me on this.

I am pretty sure Guzzi rated the V11 more HP than the V1100.

The V11 as self rated by Guzzi is Power. 91 hp at 7800 rpm — CEE

Torque. 94 Nm at 6000 rpm — CEE

And from the info I could find, Guzzi rated the Sporti at 90HP.

One whopping HP less than the V11.

Of course the torque curves could be different, and the RWHP could be different.

Also, the 1100 had less strict of emissions testing to pass.

But far more poke?!? I doubt it.

V11 exhaust works very well on Sport 1100!

 

All right, my engine is a little bit tickled but when I mounted the V11 exhaust (with Supertrapp mufflers and Stucchi crossover) the dyno showed 1RWHP more than the aftermarket free flowing 1100 Sport BOS exhaust.

 

It's not the most beatiful solution, but it works

Ok fairly confident it will fit thats all so Jcbooghs just how tweaked is your 1100 sport motor? would these mods be suitable for the road, what would you recommend? Mine is currently stock athough it breaths through flatslides and has a exhaust system as its doen a few KMs I'm toying withthe idea of a rebuild with a bit of a tweak while we are at it.

How tweaked? About 25% power-output gain. In numbers this means 94RWHP instead of the 75RWHP Sport 1100 original. The early V11 has 76 RWHP measured on dyno. Later V11 a little more.

You won't feel that 1 HP but more interesting is the weight difference between the Sport 1100 and V11 Sport, where the Sport 1100 is much lighter (talking about a carb-fedded engine) and that's what you feel on the roads. I didn't gain power-output only, but also some weight. More numbers; 1100 Sport = 0,375 RWHP/kg V11 = 0,345 RWHP/kg my Sport = 0,562 RWHP/kg

What did I do to get this? Payed thousands of euro's to a specialist. In my opinion that's the only way to keep it running. So, is it suitable for the road? As I ride this bike for 13 years and over 100,000 kms, I would say 'yes'!

I have thought about the size difference from the crossover to the silencers too.

The headers and crossover are both about 45mm od on v11 and 1100sport aren't they?

And then the pipes from xover to silencers are 50mm.From these tests (In the link)there was not so much difference between 45mm all through and" Termignoni"44-47-50mm.There seemed to be a little bit less at 4000rpm with the 44-47-50 so,maybe it feels like it's more torque above that.

On the other hand,as i thought i would finish my own 1100sport once and for all and the leave it,i finally bought a Staintune header collector set,which includes every thing exept the silencers.

I have tried:

BOS 2-1 ,headers 45mm xover about 47mm the silencer pipe 50mm.As it was a 2-1 the preformance was ocourse different to 2-1-2.With that system there was a steeper climb in torque between 4500-6500 rpm partly because there was a dip 3500-4500rpm.Dynoresults 84nm77hp sae.

 

Stock headers 45mm xover Stucchi 45mm silencers mistral 45mm +kn filter in stock airbox.Not the best mapping was made for that and it felt more tamed as the torque climbed more evenly.80nm75hp on the same dyno.

 

Staintune header collector set about 44mm ,(i think it has an ID of 1mm less than stock)and Mistral silencers.I am currently having this system on with the same mapping as the stucchi-setup.

The difference in throttlerespons is very big and it pulls like a train ,in comparison ,from 3000-6500.

I am very happy with this set up,it fits my riding perfectly.

 

So what i have found is that the size right between mistral 42mm and stucchi45mm all the way through is a really good compromise.You get more torque between 3000-4500rpm than a stucchi xover.

you mean these? Sound was nice, I see no mounting problems since v11 gearbox is bigger. The 10mm engine won't be noticable.

Do those pipes come together under the gearbox ,or is it just 2-2 and not 2-1-2?
