After an hour of driving, a popping on decel worsens, shortly after, the bike turns much louder. I look down on the left cylinder, and a huge crack in the header is smiling at me. It's cracked all the way through. I pull over, call for roadassistance, and an hour later, my bike is picked up, and I'm on my way home, pillion on my friends (admittedly comfy) V-strom backseat... My mechanic will weld the crack, but I've sent Todd at guzzitech an inquiry for the crackfree headers. Welded them up and so far so good but the wall is so thin on these pipes I won't be surprised if they pop again. I just can't bring myself to spend $400+ on crackproof pipes...
