Just been looking at the line up of bikes and riders in WSB- in addition to the usual suspects, BMWS1000RRs and Aprilia V4s are joining in too- and are pretty much on the pace at the first test session and it looks as though the grids will be packed with a mixture of experience and some hungry young riders.

WSB test results

In contrast, the Moto GP grid is shrinking with Kawasaki pulling out. Eurosport have been dumped in favour of the BBC, who now that they have Formula One will be relegating Moto GP to "red button" coverage and they are continuing with their lacklustre commentators.

Obviously Rossi and the gang will still get it on come race day, but I have a feeling that WSB will be the best series to watch this year.

First WSB race is Philip Island in a month's time- can't wait!

I've aways considered WSB more entertaining to watch than motogp, the racing is usually closer, a wider variety of makes and two races on the same day just brilliant :D

Yup, WSB is the race to watch! And WSS, as well :-) And BSB!! I don't give a toss about Formula 1 with no overtaking and in general boooooring races.

Keep it two wheel!

I have seen F1 and MotoGP in person (I saw WSB in person but that was back in the early '90's). Both are spectacular, MotoGP because the racing is good and the bikes are fast, F1 because the cars are the fastest things around a roadcourse and the drivers talent to drive the cars that fast is amazing. The big problem for me with WSB is they went the route of slowing the racing down so that more riders could run the pace. To some this is good, it makes for closer racing. But I would rather see faster bikes and fewer guys able to run the pace.

Don't get me wrong, I would go watch a WSB race if it were near me, but I would not ride for two days each way to see it (unless it was a sweet ride, then I might do it for any excuse) like I do for F1 and MotoGP.

2000 WSBK Hockenheim

A five-way 180 mph drafting / late braking battle at the Hockenheimring.

Edwards, Haga, Chili, Bayliss & Yanagawa.

Honda vs Yamaha vs Suzuki vs Kawasaki vs Suzuki.

Outstanding stuff ;)

It is a shame they altered that track. It was up there as one of the great tracks and now it appears to be but a shadow of its former self.

Many great races in many forms of motorsports have happened at the old Hockenheimring. My favorites were some of the 500cc GP races from the late 80's and early 90's from there.

It is impressive to have two in the top ten. I love to see Aprilia thump Ducati on the nose early on.

Aprilia put in a good showing especially in the second race when Max got a good start however he said his tyres went off so maybe next time, shame about the BMWs but didn't haga do well, it would be good to see him win the championship he works hard :D

I was appalled to see the BMWs ridden in such an aggressive way. No lifesaving observations, no use of indicators and the riders were actually wearing leathers- no Belstaffs with a reflective belt. To cap it all, the BMW riders were not even wearing beards- its a disgrace. They have obviously not read the 932 page riding manual of the BMW Club.
