If it is the same as here than it would be the summ you could additonally get but probably won't - by reasons like "you always drive a dirty car" or "Susy says you're difficult. Why don't you say 'Morning to here" and the like. Interesting keywords are "dynamic [...] approach" and "target driven".

 

The job needs not be too bad nevertheless. Our new local dealer last year ordered 5 "Racers", 4 of them were sold within two month. How that I thought. Probably because he is a successful Honda man, still young at heart and looking at the new Guzzi/Aprilia/MV branch of his business as just another oportunity to make money. Two Stelvios are sold also and a Norge is about to go as soon as the customer has got his money things straight. This guy is just selling motorcycles.

There are not many new motorcycles being sold here. The secondhand market (for bigger bikes) is also very slow.

 

The local Piaggio-Aprilia-Guzzi place is doing better than most because he can sell anything from 50cc up: and it is mostly the wee scooters, toys and cheap beginners' bikes that are selling. Looking at lists of best sellers in 2010 ( and some were posted here a few months ago, I think?) it's surprising that big bikes are at the top. I would think that they will become more difficult to sell, as prices shoot up and running costs increase. Will 600 - 750s not become more popular?

Great job if you were to get the back up required from the UK or indeed the Italian end.

Guzzi/Aprilia always seem to suffer from poor or even non existant factory back up in my opinion. Having had first hand experience of both marques and recently spoken to a prominant UK Guzzi dealership and recently heard ongoing tales of woe about aftersales support from Guzzi UK and the factory,

It seems the UK market is not worth caring about?

 

A great shame as the product range is modern,good looking and pretty reliable now. Guzzi owners are often loyal to the brand for many years if not forever! With a better attitude towards them the factory could improve customer/brand loyalty and thus ultimately sell far more bikes. Many specialists offer a good service to owners despite poor performance from the factory on spares and warranty.

 

Maybe it can never change....maybe its just the Italian way....tommorow will do.....!

 

Despite all this..I luv my Guzzi!!!!!

Let's face it, this gig is going to be about pushing more scooters & 'prillers: an uptick of one unit sold under the Guzzi nameplate would be a statistically large annual %age gain, but isn't going to do much to help you make your monthly numbers... :rolleyes:

last year we had a new mg rep. he had to pay his own petrol ,supply his own car until they ( piaggio uk ) could sort out a company credit card and company car for him ( he is a rep ffs,you would have thought they would have it sorted out in a week?)

three weeks later with credit card bill to pay,no money from piaggio to pay bill, rep promptly left cos he had not been paid !and he works for them, DO YOU WANT THAT JOB NOW?

 

recently... ie just before christmas 2010, reps in at various dealers, pushing for bike orders, x2 south of england dealers place orders for minimum stock levels bought in by piaggio uk, ( so you meet min. requirements for a dealership) and said dealers get told SORRY you are no longer dealers for m-g. BOTH dealers now considering legal action against piaggio uk .

 

there is a dealer in south london , with a big shiny shop, who has an aprillia,ktm,m-g,piaggio group scooters,agencies,( and trying for a ducati agency now) who it appears is funded directly from piaggio italy,who sells bikes at cost or just above,fails to do warranty work to any reasonable standard, who was put "ON STOP" by the finance company,who made a phone call to someone in italy,they then phoned piaggio uk and said ,take him off stop...and give him whatever he wants.

HOW DO OTHER DEALERS COMPETE AGAINST THIS BLATANT FAVOURTISM . answer they cannot.

 

ps i'll just go home now, and wait for the phone call tomorrow, telling me i'm no longer a dealer for them. they behave like a shower of shit.

Wow, sounds like what I heard from a couple of dealers here over the years...very tough for someone whose livelihood depends a supply chain. k

I know Triumph are not perfect but they stay very close to their customer feedback- I have completed at least 3 customer service questionnaires from Triumph since I bought my Sprint 15 months ago asking me for feedback on my bike and local dealer- I know from chatting to the guy I know at the shop that the dealers seriously try to make sure that customers give good feedback to Triumph.

 

If Piaggio started doing the same, and actually listening, they would know who the good Guzzi dealers were and who were the pits, and would find out what punters actually thought about the bikes too.

 

It sounds as though Piaggio will end up losing the "good guy" dealers and get stuck with the pile 'em high sell 'em cheap shops who think that PDI means put a splash of fuel in the tank.
