Ian
Does anyone know what size metric hex sockets I need for the front and rear axle nuts on an 04 V11 sport sport?
docc
I am not sure they changed from the early Sport (27mm)?
Ian
27mm both ends?
docc
It is on the '99-2001. front: 92630718 rear: 92630718 I can't even find a way to search parts for the 2004.
docc
Hopefully, someone with a 2004 with Marzocchi forks can put a spanner on them for you.
Chuck
Not trying to be snarky here, but can't you just go out to the shed and measure them?
Ian
Wasn't home when I posted. Just got in and checked the bike and it looks like 27mm on the rear and 29mm on the front
Kiwi_Roy
Shouldn't be so tight you need a socket, just saying.
Ian
Well the torque setting for the rear axle nut is 12kg/m, that definitely needs a socket and a breaker bar. Not found the torque setting for the front yet
Ian
The front is 90-100nm. Pretty tight I'd say
Ian
Sooooooooo, having now bought a pair of sockets I can absolutely confirm that on an 04 sport the front axle nut takes a 30mm socket and the rear takes a 27mm socket. In case you're wondering.........the wheels are coming off to be powder coated. They have some random scratches on the rims that neither look like tyre lever marks or gravel rash, either way, they'll soon be history
docc
Yah, the rear axle torque is 120 NM (?) . . . "From the housing side." Why-oh-why is that? Something about the seals? Coriolis effect?
Chuck
Typically outrageous Guzzi spec? 80 ft lbs, or as Pete says, "until you fart" is more than enough. IMHO, take Guzzi torque specs with a large grain of salt. When I was building the aero engine, I found an M7 bolt that was supposed to be torqued to 22 ft. lbs, or something like that. Use a little common sense.
